Respawn's first game an always-online Xbox 720 exclusive?

I think always online is a smart move by MS, PS4 will get hacked and become the new home for piracy which will make Devs consider making more always online exclusives for the Next-Box

After all these years EA has been a publisher and this is the result. John Ricotello probably jumped ship not just because of the financials but these deals that probably Peter Moore tried to close behind the scenes. Peter Moore has been attached to more failures than successes. I truly believe he is a good salesman and risk taker but this is not a good move for EA. I am sure the game will be good but I think that their could be another shoe that is about to drop in the next few months and it will be the death knell for this well established publisher that has been around for as long as I can remember.

You heard it here first: I bet M$ buys EA outright sometime next gen. EA's struggling, M$ has billions of dollars lying around, their own studios really don't make anything worthwhile, and they already have some deal in the works for the next platform. The Xbox division is basically a hobby of Microsoft's and doesn't contribute much of anything to their bottom line, but they do need it to push Windows 8 (what the nextbox is rumored to be based on), to perhaps spur on their bread and butter.

I'm sure this title will have "from the makers of call of duty" plastered all over it, I'm interested to see how well it does - i would much prefer it if gamers would choose the developers over the franchise name.

Well if it's multiplayer only, of course it's going to be always online. So the game will just be some maps then you have to buy more maps for DLC?

I'm glad to see the studio recognizes its own weaknesses and creates a multiplayer focused game.

The sooner these modern FPS devs start dropping their shitty campaigns to focus on their multiplayer, the better.

Judging by the overall motion of how the 720 is gonna work, I think the PS4 is the going to be the only console I'm going to own.

And oh boy, another shooter! I've always wanted another shooter! And it's by EA, this could only mean good things, especially with MS's new console policy.

This is as dissappointing as the amount of exclusives MS actually owns.

Looking forward to seeing more news about this title. Respawn have one opportunity to make a big first impression.

This is all pretty loose stuff. This is an article (Gamespot) on an article (Kotaku) that references 'sources'. It's all rumour/speculation until something is confirmed - either by statement (unlikely) or at E3, where Respawn are going to be showing their game. E3 is only a little while away - until then I think the pitchforks should be stowed.

Leave it to M$ to buy exclusivity because their own studios weren't making anything of worth (as usual), looks like more Halo and Gears again in terms of their own stuff.

@RikusTwilight @warhawk-geeby Nah, Destiny is also coming out on the 360 and PS3, there is nothing exclusive about that game.

@RikusTwilight Bungie's Destiny is also going to be on the nextbox as well though....? It's on just about everything! Microsoft loves its shooters.

Admittedly (and bearing in mind I'll be getting the PS4) a big multiplayer shooter with mechs does sound pretty cool. Nothing too different though.

However... It just seems to me that it's aimed at being Microsoft's next Halo, except Halo already has mechs :/

Interested to see what they'll come up with anyway, just from a gamer's point of view. I guess the USA does love its guns though.
