[QUOTE="waflerevolution"][QUOTE="Dzjaansis"]Why am I not on the leaderboard?Dzjaansis
did you ask and show proof?
I guess I didn't. Proof? How? Pics? Please read the first post in this thread.

You are couting your Burger King games twice, once for the XB and once for the 360. Other than that it looks in order. Oh, and you have a game called Wargasm -- have you played it (just curious as to what it's all about).
You'll be on the next leaderboard. Star Trek seems to be a thing for you and wrestling games. Talk about that a little, like the differences between the NES and PC vresion of ST:25th Anniversary. I'm always intrigued by games that were released for the PC and the NES.

Sorry It took me so long to write back, but my job has been pretty busy as of late and I haven't had much of a chance to respond. As for the Burger King games, I corrected the error on my count and it should all be good now. The reason was when I got them, I just had an Xbox, but later got a 360 and must have recounted them in the 360 search.
As for Wargasm, it was an odd game that I have virtually no memory of. I received it for free as pre-release hype when I worked for an electronics retailer. They gave it out to us for listening how the Intel Celeron processor was better than the AMD K6, which was a total lie. I played it under an hour, and removed it from my system because it was a hard drive hog. But all this makes me want to dig it out and play it.
I am very big on the Star Trek games and the wrestling ones, but without ever really noticing it until the list was compiled. My notable influences come from the original PC Star Trek and N64 No Mercy. The PC Star Trek game was the first of two I purchased when I bought my Packard Bell 486-33SX computer from Sears. I also picked up MS Flight Simulator. I was blown away by the graphics and the gameplay. It was one of my earliest recollections of feeling like it was more than a game, like being a part of the series. The NES version I picked up recently, and I don't think the port does the PC game any justice. A good follow-up to that game, if you enjoy that title, was ST: Judgment Rites. Other than Starfleet Command for PC, I have no real fondness for any of the ST titles.
As for wrestling, little needs to be said, nor is there anything I can say that hasn't been said, about the sheer awesomeness of No Mercy. It playability, story mode, and customization were unparalleled at that time. It is still a fun title to play now, if you can pick it up. Great for weekend nights (and weekday nights) in college with fine beverages a-plenty. The only other games I truly have an allegiance to for wrestling are the Smackdown and Smackdown vs. Raw series published by Yukes. They are still fun to play, but its lack of evolution, and my downturn of interest in wrestling, have rendered me less interested in picking up future titles at full next-gen price.
BTW: I am excited about my latest addition, a Turbografix-16. Any suggestions on must haves or rarity titles I should keep an eye out for? Well, I hope I bored everyone enough out there. Take care my fellow brothers and sisters of the Union!

Thanks for answering my questions, I thought I must have scared you off. I moved your question about the TurboGrafx over to a new thread so it will get more attention. If you go and read _Bear's profile on our union home page you will find that he worked at NEC, so he might be able to provide some insight. I'll give you my recommendations in the new threda I made.
It's about that time... Anyways I'm sitting at 680 right now hopefully I'll break the 700 mark tomorrow and the 250 mark for NES!!!!!WitIsWisdom
Yep, I'm going to be updating it in about 12-17 hours, since I'll be otherwise occupied on the 31st and 1st in my time zone.

I shall email you my newest count.
Hey, if ya could hold off on posting for about 4-5 hours that would be great!!! I am going to pick up some more games, and I still havn't added the games I listed yesterday to my collection! I will add those when I add the new ones I'm getting today! In case it doesn't tell the time of post, it is about 11:00 am. central time!!! Thanks man...
I need 20 more to break the 700 mark, and I plan on doing just that!!!
Updated. Lots of activity last month. My big jump was due to the transfer of _bear's CVIS collection into my possession.
Probably my last harrah, from now I'll only be buying new games that I want to play and ebay/ zshop itemsthat are on my wish list (saving my binge buys for annual trips to the states).
Every game I buy now comes with a $13 shipping "tax" based on my experiments from last month, so I'll be a lot more selective.
I remember the good old days when my collection was larger than Aspro's for like 5 minutes!
pikadeth
oh ya, my collection used to be larger then gmsnprs!
Well, looks like the games I just got will go onto next month's update xD. That's perfectly cool though. :)Updated. Lots of activity last month. My big jump was due to the transfer of _bear's CVIS collection into my possession.

I'll prolly be doing the same thing, besides a few trips to the flea market this year. I know I'm already saving for this summer's vacation. :P I do want to hit 1k this year, but if I don't I'll be awefully close. Are you going to be in Aulstralia for a long time?
Um, I have been sitting at 680 games for awhile now and you have me at 608.... I am actually sitting at 711 I just need to update! Could you change it in the leaderboard to thr 680 at least since I had that posted before the month was out? Maybe you just accidently typed the 0 and 8 out of place? That was probably my biggest month of aquisitions ever! WitIsWisdomWell he did have to update it a little early. It'll be on next month's report if not this month's. :)

Did you update your game list here on GS? That's where aspro gets the 'official' numbers for the leaderboard.
Yeah, I keep current with this site, and I was sitting at 670 (listed on GS) a few days befor the update. I am sitting at 713 currently but my 670 should have been posted. Maybe there was a glitch? Seems that from time to time this site has its fair share of problems. It's all good though, I guess it'll just show up next month if it doesn't get fixed.... either way its all good! :)WitIsWisdom
I'll see what went wrong in about 12-13 hours from now when I'll have the time. I've been on the road the last two days, sorry for the error.
I'm just curious but why was a 500 game minimum imposed on this leaderboard? I'm sure the rest of us who have less than 500 are curious...BigC43
Well, when you take into consideration that we've got over 200 members, if we didn't cut it off somewhere aspro would have a full time job just making the leaderboard every month. 500 is a number that is an exceptional amount of games and yet still attainable. If we cut it off at 1,000 or even 750, there'd be about 6 people on it...good enough?
***edit***
I take it back...over 300 members.

No harm in asking. Jolly Roger is largely correct, it does take me a lot of time to do this once a month. The main reason for me though is making a graph that is large enough and clear enough to mean anything. If you look at the collection size over time graph it is already hard to make out the lower 500-700 group.
If someone wants to make a more inclusive leaderboard, perhaps a non-graphical one that would include members with collections below 500 I'd welcome it.
Charts have been updated to ammend my error on wits total. Sorry again Wit, I know you bought a bunch of games, so it is only right your numbers be reflected.
I switched from excel to openoffice this month for my offline spreadsheet needs, so I'll blame that.
It's all good, we are only human, everyone is bound to make a minor mistake now and again..... that's much better!! :D
You know, last months percentage gained totals and collections that stayed stagnant was a pretty sweet bonus! I'd do it myself, but I don't have all the totals.... Add that feature back in next month if you would, I thought it was interesting and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Well, if you have time that is... I know updating can be a very arduous task!

I worked on a Google Spreadsheet that uses the ImportHtml() function to automatically import members' collection counts. It works, but there are a few down-sides.
I was hoping the automatic import would make updating the leaderboard much easier. All you would have to do is cut-and-paste the current row of data to another sheet and then re-publish the spreadsheet; the chart image on the first post would automatically update as well. Still, I think the sub-par chart is too much a loss. Anyway, you can check out my version of the leaderboard here.
As far as a below-500-count list goes, I made one of those too. And again, there is a caveat. Namely, google is currently only alowing 50 ImportHtml() function calls per spreadsheet, so there is a limit. Other than that, all I had to do is copy-and-paste in the CCU member names and the functions and formulas took care of the rest. You can check out that list here.
Edit: It looks like several people are very close to hitting the 500 mark. :)
Edit: Oh yes, and just to note... I just made up the previous month's data since I don't have those counts. So don't expect that data to be realistic. I just wanted to see some movement on the "Collection Count Over Time" chart I put together.
that's awesome INK :) castlevaniap
Ah yeah, that's beyond awesome. You took all the problems and fixed them. I think you're in charge of the leaderboard now.
Oh wow. :D
Although seeing it in graphical form just makes me appreciate how anorexic my collection is... this shall be rectified :P
According to GS which I have been using more as of late to keep track of the collection I am somewhere in the 800's although as a newbie to the Union I am not sure what I need for consideration for the leaderboard, although perhaps I will sit down with my notebook in front of the wall this weekend and update as I am sure a few purchases have not made the list yet.
Is it just me or does GS not have some of the older SMS, IV, and CV games listed on the site?
I think there are nearly fifty games that I was unable to find and add.

I have not had problems with those. The best way to find a game on this site is to go to gamefaqs.com and find the game there. In the url there wil be a 5 (or maybe 6) digit number. Then come back to this site and enter it after "gamespot.com", e.g., www.gamespot.com/123456 and it will take you to the game page. If it just goes back to the home page go to the tech Support Forum from the Forums tab and one of the stickies is the Missing Games Thread. It is administered by an awesome dude who happens to be in this union, he will add any game that is legitimately missing.
Welcome to the union, I look forward to hearing more about your collection.
Well, I kinda like the charts. If I wanted raw numbers I'd just go look at all your collection counts.
I don't mean to be rude here but since the leaderboard was created, it's been something that we've all looked to to recognize those with 'serious' collections. I personally like it that way as shows (and rewards) those who really are serious collectors. One of the more recent collectors to gain recognition was WitlsWisdom. And when he was made it on the list it was cool and there was much congratulations and adulations all around. He was happy, and we were happy for him. If we put everyone on the list, then we loose that recognition.
Lest you all think that I'm being elitest about the leader board (since I'm already on it) there was a time where I wasn't, but my collection grew and I 'earned' the right to be on the CCU leaderboard just like many others in the union. In fact, I've sort of considered it a 'right of passage' for us CCUers to make it on the leaderboard. I know everyone wants to be on it but if we just put everyone on it, it sort of loses it's meaning. Originally, I believe it was only the top 10 CCUer's, so by changing it to 500+ it opens the door to alot more people.
Again, I know it sounds elitest (and I guess to be perfectly honest it is a bit), but I feel the leaderboard is just that, the leaderboard, those in the union, that lead the group in terms of collections.
If Ink wants to do an 'unofficial' list I think that's great too, but for the 'official' list I think we should stick with the status quo.
*Puts flame retardant suit on and presses the submit button*
I agree with dunc with regards to the main leaderboard (and I'm not on it... yet :P). It's sort of something to aspire to: "These people have more games than sense sort of thing". I do however like the sort of unofficial (shall we call it that?) chart of everyone else, it's nice to see how you stand in comparison to other members.
Really, 500 isn't that inaccessible a number. My collection has grown by around 150 since I've been in this union (about nine months... seems longer...) which is a lot for me on my non-existant budget! Collections tend to explode when one is around here often :P
Okay, so I guess I'm still on the hook each month for organizing the offical 500+ board (Hey at least I tried to shirk, you know I'm human now), and Inky can do the off-broadway production.
To go off on a tangent, I think when I joined this union I had around 500-600 games, now I have like, what 1,800? That is kind of nutty, but for reasons I won't go into just yet I had to compile a list of games for the major consoles since the 8-bit generation and ended up with a list of over 27,000 games. Yep. Almost 10 times the size of our largest collection, which is gmsnpr at almost 3,000 games. No wonder there is so much to talk about with collecting games -- there are so many out there. As I compiled that list I probably said, "I've GOT to get that one" hundreds of times. Same thing happened when I went through waflejohn's and gmsnpr's gmae list recently. This is a great hobby/ unhealthy addiction to have.
The unofficial list would be good for people that mainly collect for one system i.e me. For instance, there are roughly only 550-600 PAL SNES releases, so it is probably going to take a little while for me ever to apear on the list :P
I don't really care though, if I really wanted to be on the list, I would just keep buying really cheap games untill I reached the magic number.
I also agree with most of what duncanr2n stated in his post too.
So do I, even though I might be disqualified from comment. I'll repost my collection at some point, but I like being able to get into my account and I'm too cheap to spring for more bandwidth. Maybe after a raise...I also agree with most of what duncanr2n stated in his post too.
