The Formula One Passion Union brings back the Predictions Championship, ready for the 2009 season!

Now in its 4th year, the Predictions Championship gives members of the F1PU to show off their skills in predicting what will happen in GP weekends. Under its previous guise as the Vision Championship, members chose who would be the top 3 in qualifying and the race, along with a fastest lap. Since 2008, it has been more developed. Rules are explained regarding the game later.

Last year crowned bloodling as the new champion of the F1PU's game, with yours truly running in 2nd. He joins mjk1 and Aloushi87 as champions, and you could join this list in 2009.

What do you mean?

If you mean for Aussie GP Predictions, that thread will be started next week. If you mean why I didn't wait 'til next week to set this up, it's to allow the newer members to get used to the game before we start it up.

Despite the new scoring system, the games scoring procedure will not change as a result of Formula One still using the points system to determine ties.

I knew I should've waited. Trulli penalised, I'll re-calculate later on. Anyone that chose Trulli is going to lose a LOT of points. Unfortunately, that includes me :(Redders1989

yup me to, but Toyota are appealing the decision so dont recalcuate just yet (there is hope lol) 

That was a disaster of a last five laps:

Kubica: crash

Vettel: crash

Trulli: possibly demoted

Rosberg: going backwards on bad tyres

Oh, by the way, no one got Worst Constructor, because that honour went to... FERRARI!

EDIT: As Trulli's penalty was given as a drive-through, the appeal should be rejected.

That was certainly a turn up for the books. Plenty of people expected Force India or McLaren to get that dubious honour, and yet Hamilton managed to get 3rd/4th. After seeing the in race replay of Raikonnen hitting the wall I don't think he was shown again.

Anyway it's funny how your wishes for drivers changes when you have a thread like this! Picking McLaren to be worst constructor and seeing Kovaleinen got out so early brought a smirk to my face where last season I would have been disappointed.

Toyota on the otherhand seem to be doing everything the can to incur the wrath of the stewards - qualifying disallowed and a 25 sec after race penalty

then again if trulli wasn't penalised, rosberg hadn't fallen back on soft tyres, barichello hadn't had a bad start and ferrari had survived through to the end i could have been right up there. it was all going so well in qualifying.

Yeah, you shouldn't have had to in the first place. This seems to be one case where us in the States were aware of some discrepancies in Hamilton's story before Europe.

It actually does make McLaren the worst constructor, as a DSQ is automaically last. As Heikki was the first to retire, he'll be pushed up to 19th, thus making it a McLaren 19-20.

Here's how penalties work on this game from Qualifying:

- If a penalised driver scores pole, then they still score points for taking pole position.

- The grid position that I count drivers from is where they declare to start the race. Say for example if Massa's crew declared he would start from the pitlane, then I would place him as starting 20th. However, IF a driver is in their grid slot then stalls before the race (I.E. Kovalainen last year in Monaco), then even though they start from the pitlane, they will still be counted as starting from their grid position, meaning they cannot score points for moving up the field until they pass where they started on the grid.

- Taking the last point into consideration, this means Vettel will be c_lassified as starting 13th for tomorrow's race and not 3rd. Same with Barrichello, he will be c_lassified as starting 9th and not 4th.

Should the race be stopped, full points will be awarded for the predictions. I canne be asked to work out even MORE difficult calculations!

EDIT: So they're now discussing who should be where... they'll never make this easy for me.

EDIT 2: With all the confusion going on, I'm going to have to go with the official retirements list - of which there was only Kovalainen and Kubica. You lucky people with Fisichella, Buemi and Vettel won't get penalised 5 points.

Technically he got to the grid again before he got out the car, so I wasn't going to count him out unless the race re-started anyways.

Felt the same way when Kubica crept off the line and then burned up. :? Too bad I picked the wrong Beamer today and was hoping for another lucky ride for Buemi, but P3 ain't bad.
