I fully agree with CRUCIFIX ANGEL on his comments towards RE4......
Yes, the game's gameplay and graphics were amazing, but it was far from a perfect game. The writing and dialogue was utter drivel, and there were just too many absrud elements for it to be taken serioiusly as anything more than a flashy action shooter. Leon jumping off 30ft ledges and landing like spiderman, Johnny Overcoat trading rocket launchers for gemstones and pocket watches, Chickens laying magical healing eggs.....none of this was atmospheric or "scarry", and neither were many of the situations or bosses.Â
Also, the fact that this was labelled as a numbered Resident Evil game, yet had nothing to do with Umbrella, Zombies, or Raccon City and its happenings was disturbing. Hopefully RE5 will actually have something to do with Resident Evil.
It all comes down to personal choices, but not everyone opts for over-the-top action. Some of us old-school RE fans actually liked non-linear exploration of the environments, puzzles, and item collection. While RE4 is indeed a very good action shooter- it is far too often mislabeled as a survival horror game, and it is far too often overzelously praised as "prefect" by fanboys who were in diapers when the series started.
RE4 was amazing, and well worth the $40, but it was nowhere near the quality of the REmake.
