I feel as if metal gear solid can only be considered due to the complexity in movement. But on a complete physical level I have to say that tekken 3 looked absolutley incredible along with final fantasy VIII (along with many others on this site I am obsessed with VII but VIII was just way too pretty on the eyes to be ignored) and (in agreement with someone else up there) resident evil 3 for its prerendered backgrounds.
I always think about how many home consoles were released and then never pushed to their true limits (sega game gear, sega saturn, etc) the playstation was definatly not of this category. I'll never forget first playing crash bandicoot 2 on it when I only had an N64 and not being able to believe how much more interested I was in the darker and more complex color scheme.
The Playstation had it all.
The Grand Turismo games always looked incredible especially by number 4 when the enviornment was fully moving.
I skipped teh ps1 generation so my guess is...WarhawkSherpicoWhat system did you have at the time? Or were you not into games back then?
Depends on how you mean it.
Either the best-looking game overall or the best-looking game when considering the age as well.
Overall probably FIFA 05 or MADDEN 05, due to their late releases. I believe these were the two last sports games to be released on the PS1. But when you look back at how a game looked in their time, then I would have to say MGS or Crash Bandicoot 3. Both looked great for 1998 games!
gran turismo 2 driver 2 ,,
duke nukem total meltdown although a little darker then n64 version is pretty good,,
hexen -another multiplat as good as n64 version but more choppier ,, 2x less power then n64 is enough proof ps1 wouldnt be able to handle goldeneyye or pd
another good game is spyro and crash ,, both look exceptionally good the need for speed series is also a good looking game, rally cross 2 was awsome looking
