I take Bethesda's side. I love Mass Effect, don't get me wrong, but every Bethesda game I have played has been awesome. Whereas with Bioware, I've played Dragon Age and the Mass Effect's. Mass Effect 1 and 2 are great games and some of my favorites, but I hated Dragon Age. Mostly the linearity and the Combat is what bugged me. The combat wasn't satisfying at all and it had too much of a boardgame feel to it. Then again I only got like 2 hours into the game but I just couldn't get myself to play it any longer.

Fallout 3 and Oblivion are some of my favorite games, for me atleast, I feel really attached to the world, not the characters, but just the world itself. The fact that you can go into an old womans house, blow her head off with a plasma rifle, loot her fridge, and leave her body lying in a fireplace is just awesome.

Bioware is definitely my favourite. I've basically loved all the games they've ever made. I still enjoyed Oblivion, Fallout 3, and Fallout New Vegas a lot and am really looking forward to Skyrim.

Bethesda - a developer who makes games that are so entertaining that people don't mind that they're full of bugs and running on an engine that cannot handle having more than 5 people on screen at the same time without lagging.

Both amazing in their day, now making subpar FPS/TPS "RPGs" I guess I'll take Bethesda.

Bethesda, other than KOTOR And To an extent Dragon Age, I havn't played that many enjoyable games with Bioware, while with Bethesda, Fallout 3 is my favorite game of all time and oblivion was really fun, and to an extent I liked Rogue Warrior (I know it was panned, but it was so funny to play)

They're both gone downhill but I'll go for bioware. Their older games were much better imo and Bethesda games have always been filled with bugs that the community was then forced to fix for them.

I still like Square enix more than either but if I had to pick one...

Bioware only innovation has been taken from other games.

Bethesda handle their RPG parts of the games well but the choose our own adventure seam to be mission.

I don't know which one I like more.

Fallout New Vegas Archangel3371
That's an Obsidian game.

Anyways Bethesda gets my vote. If I were to rate them on the last three games. Morrowind being awesome. Oblivion being meh and Fallout 3 restoring a little bit of hope.

On BioWare's side it would be enjoyed DA, Enjoyed ME2 but not because it was a good RPG and didn't like DA2.

Bethesda all the way. Huge fan of them. I also love the Mass Effect series, but i lost a bit of respect for the mediocre sequels to Dragon Age and Mass Effect franchises. Mediocre when it comes to the RPG genre that is.

Choosing between Bioware and Bethesda is like choosing between public humilitation or physical injury. Both are the cream of the crop when it comes to crappiness.

Bioware is the Stephanie Meyer of the RPG genre, with their awfully writen romances. They are constantly dumbing down games since KotoR. They are ruining WRPGs by turning them into dating sims.
Bethesda is the Michael bay of the RPG genre, making games completely devoid of depth in an attempt to reach mainstream and focus more and more on action. They are ruining the WRPG genre by turning them into action adventures.

Good WRPG devs include, Piranha Bytes, Taleworlds, Soldak Entertainment, Radon Labs and Katauri Interactive.

I loved Knights of the Old Republic, Dragon Age: Origins, and both Mass Effect 1 and 2. However, I didn't particularly care for Dragon Age 2.

As for Bethesda...I've played both Oblivion and Fallout, but I couldn't really get into them. So all in all, I'd have to go with Bioware.

For Bethesda I love ES: Oblivion, but cannot stand Fallout 3.

As for Bioware I love ME2 but havn't played dragon age origins (idk if i'll like the battle system) and havn't gotten to dragon age 2 yet

I'd have to say Bethesda simply because ME2, while amazing, was only 25 hours after I did everything in the game, which is too short for an rpg.

Way, way too difficult to choose. Both companies are basically my favorites. From Bioware you have the KOTOR series and the ME series and from Bethesda there's the Elder Scrolls series which I'm a big fan of (Absolutely dislike Fallout though).

Bethesda really dropped the ball with Fallout: New Vegas. Since I beat it I have not gone back.

It was like they baked cookies and took them out of the oven way to early so they were all mushy and just fell apart but you ate them anyways. I'm sure Elder Scrolls V will reignite the Bethesda flame for me though.

Bioware on the other hand really improved with Mass Effect 2 and I really enjoyed Dragon Age: Origins although I have not yet been able to purchase the sequel.

Obsidian made New Vegas. The guys who made Alpha Protocol :(
Anyways, I thought New Vegas was just a giant expansion pack to Fallout 3. It was awesome, but for some reason I liked Fallout 3's Atmosphere better, and New Vegas is THE EXACT SAME GAME.

I really could not get into Origins, I just found it incredibly dull.

That's like saying Rare is still a great developer because of Perfect Dark 1. I'm going to have to agree with Janet Jackson on this one.

Exact same game with better writing, better characters, more skill checks, more items, more recipes, better aiming, improved VATS, better control over companions, a direct sequel to the previous Fallouts. a hardcore mode, better difficulty...

Door Number 3 - CD Projekt Red. Bioware used to be the undeniable gold standard for RPGs. It had it all. Great characters, amazing stories, actual RPG gameplay. Post EA acquisition it is going progressively more towards the casual gaming crowd and has lost a lot of the bulletproof reputation it one had. Bethesda makes great sandbox games, but their characters and stories have always been pretty lackluster and pathetic. Fun and beautiful games for what they are, but you can't be the best RPG maker with a complete inability to tell a decent story. Plus their games are always buggy as all hell.

CD Projekt Red is the new top RPG maker in the world today for WRPG titles. Atlus for JRPG.

I see what you did thereee. Back on topic, even in the companies more recent games, I find that BioWare reigns surperior. Oblivion was big and open sure, but the lack of interesting characters, the sameness of the enviroment, and fairly weak story. Sure there was a lot to do, but why do I want to do it when it isn't interesting. The Dark Brotherhood might have been the only somewhat interesting one. Dragon Age Origins may have been more linear, but it's content was compelling. The atmosphere within the game was stronger, and the story wasn't as bad.

Yes, CD Projekt Red, who have made a grand total of 2 video games, both of which had horrendous combat, and a story ridiculously convoluted enough to only be rivaled by the Metal Gear franchise.

Heaven forbid Bioware create action RPGs instead of sticking to the same tired turn-based combat they've used for the past decade.

Not every game can be golden, but the Mass Effect franchise is the best thing Bioware has created since KOTOR.

Not to mention constant freezing issues, outdated Graphics and Engine, pretty much a complete recycling of Fallout 3 with different skins.

That game must have froze on me atleast 20 times.

Bethesda, hands down. Fallouts 3 and New Vegas had excellent plots, worlds and character creation/customization that kept me coming back for more. I found Bioware's games uninteresting, uninspired and boring, with lackluster combat systems and stories that tried too hard to match up to what's offered over in the JRPG side, in the processes becoming painful to follow.

Bioware's my favrouite developer and Bethesda's my third (valve's second to the curious) they're both awesome and you can't go wrong with either.

I just like bioware's story-driven rpg's a bit better then bethesda's open-world direction.
And while I love Mass Effect, Dragon Age and Fallout, I couldn't really get into elder scroll, but i'm definitly giving skyrim a shot!

If you're so scared of having to actually read things, you should stick to CoD or Halo, where you can just smash your head against the controller during cutscenes and not miss a damned thing.

Neither. Bioware was moving in the right direction with the first Dragon Age. Still had a ways to go to make a proper challenging RPG but they ruined that by catering to people who suck. Bethseda is being lazy with Skyrim and ignoring the major flaws in previous games. Mainly, the combat sucks, and the animations were atrocious. And from the non-pre-rendered footage, of which there is very little, it hasn't improved at all. Not including things like javelins, throwing axes/knives, and spears was just sheer laziness. The dumbing down was also a terrible idea. If people don't want to worry about your characters stats, skills, and abilities go play Halo. So, as far as it stands now. Both can go suck a fat one.

yeah i think EA taking over bioware is just terrible, the devs even said that all the free dlcs for ME2 were given free because they wanted them in the game but were rushed.

I disagree, and choose BioWare, because Bethesda stops supporting its games and leaving a lot of bugs unpatched. Example - Oblivion. Bethesda left > 10,000 bugs in-game, which took three community mods to fix. Great for the PC, but I feel sympathy for anyone who has the PS3 GotY disc, as it has a bad quest-breaker bug that is still unpatched.

I like Bethesda for Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and Fallout 3

I love BioWare for Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Jade Empire, Mass Effect 2, and in the future: Mass Effect 3.

I choose BioWare:)

If people don't want to worry about your characters stats, skills, and abilities go play Halo.Vangaurdius
You do realize that the stats they took out were all redundant and the only stats that weren't redundant that aren't accounted for is Luck and Speed? Everything else is accounted for in health, magicka and stamina. Estimates also say they added about 280 perks to help flesh out your character. So removing 6 redundant attributes and 3 skills while adding 280 perks... -9 + 280....hmm failing to see how 271 new ways to customize a character means I should go play halo.

[QUOTE="disneyanime91"] Really? Fallout 3 had an excellent plot? you wandered the desert for most of the time killing mutants and ended with some big robot helping you do ----well nothing really.....good plot lol [QUOTE="disneyanime91"][QUOTE="Greyfeld"]

[QUOTE="disneyanime91"]

This is the sound of somebody that doesn't like to read.

If I wanted to read, I would have picked up the novelizations. I'm here to have fun, not to get bogged down by endless walls of badly-voiced text :)

man you are cracking me up, Bioware always has the best VA's and bethesda games voice overs and facial animations blow so don't even bring that crud in here

both developers are good, but Bioware produces better games imo, Dragon Age Origins, Mass Effect, and ME2 were all amazing games, with ME2 being the best game I have ever played, DA2 was a disappointment, but it's not bad. Bethesda games are good for open world exploring and questing, but they look bad, sound bad, gameplay is so so, and they have a ton of bugs, so they are just big worlds basically...that being said, I do hope Skyrim improves upon these things bc I am looking forward to it....cautiously

When it comes to characters, story, setting, and lore, Bioware wins. When it comes to gameplay and the ability to change the world you're in, Bethesda.

Atlus for JRPG.nocoolnamejim

Yeah, that´s pretty much my stance as well.
