I'm not a hardcore gamer, but meh. :P
First games that started me getting into gaming are Outrun and Clowns on my brothers Commodore 64.
Games that made me want a console of my own were Mario 1 and Tetris on my mate's NES.
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. I played it on my mom's job computer at the time cuz I didn't have my own :)
I've played a few N64 & ps1 games that I played a lot but it was Halo:Combat evolved & GTA VC that got me into gaming. Played those games nonstop.
I also remember being in awe the first time I heard of my uncle's 2600. I actually asked my mom if you could play it without putting quarters into it.Second_RookThat is awesome! You my friend are a true old-schooler.
In the early days it was the Intellivision's B-17 bomber (complete with the voice synthesis add-on" ("That was NOT the target" hehe good times), Night stalker, the horrible game Skiing and a few more. Then the commodore computers; Commando, Dogs of war, champions of krynn, Bard's tale, Solomons key, Target renegade, Altered beast, Golden Axe.
After that Heavy Metal had my complete attention until my interest was revived by buying a PC and the game that came with it: Warcraft.
After that Heavy Metal again then the Xbox revived it again. I have stayed in gaming ever since, playing all different kinds of consoles.
Definitely Pokemon Blue Version, one of my first games that I still play and own! I've been a hardcore pokémon fan ever since and have evolved from there into other genres and styles of games. But pokémon will remain with me forever, even when I turn 80! 8)
