Yeah when I was younger, my and my brother rented a Resident Evil game (can't remember which one, was definitely 1 or 2). The only way I could bring myself to play it was when my family was in the house, I would turn all the lights on, and would sit as far back as possible, and even then it was scary as hell.
I remember playing certain parts of the Gamecube game Eternal Darkness that scared me a little when I first played it.
Resident Evil3: Nemesis. This game would freak me out when the Nemesis was near. The music started going and all you would hear was S.T.A.R.S.! Your best bet was to keep running, he was one of the toughest bosses yet.
Dead Space.. Im 15 and I cry and have nightmares whenever I go into my physics class and we talk about space now lol..

And this is what made clock tower scary to me. The entire game was like this. You'd just be exploring and then suddenly some panic enducing music would start and you'd hear the killer coming and your best bet was to hide or run as fast as you could.
F.E.A.R had its moments...tin can dropping behind as i walk through corridor, wasted a clip on the thing, jeez...
Doom 3. With the lights off.
I can't think of any others.
Edit: "We Don't Go To Ravenholm" from HL2 scared me the first time I played it.
Agreed, that game was pretty scary for me as well!Resident Evil3: Nemesis. This game would freak me out when the Nemesis was near. The music started going and all you would hear was S.T.A.R.S.! Your best bet was to keep running, he was one of the toughest bosses yet.

[QUOTE="tester962"]I have yet to play it but I am curious as to anyone who see's this thread. Is Penumbra: Black Plague on the PC scary at all?kustykashnever even heard of that game
I bought it awhile ago for 5 bucks and I am going to try it soon. Just wanted to know what I was getting into. The only thing I know about it is if you run into an enemy and you run they will chase you down. You can close doors and everything but no matter what they will find a way to get to you, breaking down any barriers in their way. I hope its good just wanted to know if anyone had tried it yet =)
these are a couple pictures from the game
Clock Tower 3.
.....Sludgehammer scarred my frail, innocent mind after the cutscene in which you first run into him..... :|
I'll never forget that seemingly enjoyable trip to the beach, just to wrap up the first night there with THAT!

I am finishing up Keepsake on the PC and Persona 4 on the PS2 than after that its next on my list =)Fatal Frame.
I was in the 'backyard' area of the game, where the overhang is to those who've played it. Anyway, the controller started to vibrate so I was like ' oh okay, a ghost.' I put on the camera and do a 360, nothing. I'm halfway turning around when the controller vibrates again, so I click the triangle button, cause me to fully turn the other way. Right there filling up the screen was the Broken Neck Lady's face. I was so scared I couldn't scream, I just paused the game and sat on the floor, staring at the TV.
I still can't bring myself to play it because of that.
Dead Space. 5 minutes into the game, when it becomes clear you're the only survivor, you have no clue what's happening, there are really scary and deadly aliens eerywhere, and you have no method of defending yourself,... Alt+F4, shudder, uninstall, go on with life. Don't like scary games.
I totally agree. This was some scary stuff. Though Silent Hill 2 wast pretty scary too.the only game that ever genuinlyscared me was Doom 3.

Fatal Frame 2 & 3
Those games are the only games ever to give me nightmares. Ive played almost every horror game out there, penumbra comes close, so did phantasmagoria in its day.
not as many people saying dead space as i thought, anyway
Only series that really scared me was the Fatal frame series... it was part atmosphere, part setting, and a whole lot about sound and the feeling of being unable to do a whole heck of alot.
Penumbra is a fairly good Series/episodic aswell...
System Shock 2does get an honerbly mention, Ive never playied a game there the enemies felt/was so wrong, they still gives me the creeps, and man SHODAN is one well made character, everytime I heard her It was like listening to the manifistation of pure hate and malice.
There was one game that scared the crap out of me to the point where I had to stop for a while.
In Fear, there is a part where you fight these invisible dudes that come out of no where and they stay invisible.
Desma
