Can anyone recommend a PS2 RPG more in the Oblivion/Fallout fold with active combat not turn based. But not Kingdom Hearts. Got that :)rastaman219You could always try Champions of Norrath or the Baldurs Gate: Dark Alliance games. They're more of a hack'n'slash, Diabloesque kind of game.
Star Ocean: Till the End of Time, Tales of the Abyss and Odin Sphere are a few that come to mind. Odin Sphere is incredible, and fairly inexpensive now a daysWhat are some good Action RPG's on the PS2 ... i am a major fan of rpgs and my birthday is coming up and i dont know what i want i own all consoles except ps3 plz help
and the main ponit i am doing this message is becuase
if you havent read the top bit yet my birthday is coming up and i want a persona game but i can only get one now and another one later in the year
and i was thinking about getting persona 3 fes edition for my birthday and then persona 4 later
or should i just get 4 now plz help
I've never played any, but I would say you should get 3 first because it's older and might be too hard to find compared to 4 which came out like 4 months ago and is still kind of common. If you take too long you might just not be able to get the old ones. Or just buy the more expensive one and put the bill on whoever's buying it:P.i am a major fan of rpgs and my birthday is coming up and i dont know what i want i own all consoles except ps3 plz help

I'm not sure how easy they are to find in stores. But they are always available on Amazon.com. Make sure you get Persona 3 FES and not just Persona 3. I'd recommend purchasing that first and then Persona 4. If you're able to get both at the same time DO IT. They are two of the best RPG's on the PS2.i am a major fan of rpgs and my birthday is coming up and i dont know what i want i own all consoles except ps3 plz help

My problem with sports games has alway been that they deviate somewhat from the game they are intended to protray.
The one I have found that is most true to the game is Rugby and from 05 to 08 it has been fantastic each year.
While there is not much in the way of rewards or trophies in the game it is the "Rugby Experience" of the game play the is the reward itself.
This game feels like it was developed and made by those who both love and play rugby for those who love and play rugby.
It is true to both the rules and gameplay of the sport. In my other games I can always find an area where somebody did not understand a rule or regulation and it does affect the match somehow. Or there somewhere you can use something in the gameplay to your advantage. Not here - you are playing rugger and that is all there is too it.
first rugby ....next i hope that cricket and Aussie Rules footy come to North America.
Kingdom Hearts might work, although it's not as medieval and everything as those. It's based on Disney, but it's a really good RPG and is thought of as a Disney branch-off of the Final Fantasy series. Or the Star Ocean games which are only decent in my opinion. Look into those anyway though, you might like them. Also, I don't see the 11th Final Fantasy in there. Maybe that.I'm looking for a new game on PS2, something along rpg/adventure and no turn-based. Here are some games I own in the adventure genre and looking for recommendations similar to these:
Final Fantasy X/X-2/XII
Rogue Galaxy
Okami
Dragon Quest VIII
ICO

I prefer Suikoden V. It starts slow, but it gets good eventually. And here is a free tip. If you want someone to answer your response, it might help if you at least use some punctuation.this is excactly why the recommendation thread is poor no one has played any of the games it all just what people have heard and most of my questions havent even been answered and yet u cant make sepeerate posts on which gams to get without losing ponits so its stupid

Wow, someone's pissed. Someone else should probably replace this thread at some point anyway. I don't come onto Gamespot really anymore so soon the entire thread structure is going to collapse and get abandoned. And I think the only way to edit someone else's thread is to be a mod. And thanks to other people adding in their own recommendations. My tastes are probably different then the tastes of some people so it's good to have variety.this is excactly why the recommendation thread is poor no one has played any of the games it all just what people have heard and most of my questions havent even been answered and yet u cant make sepeerate posts on which gams to get without losing ponits so its stupid

I first played it like 4 years after it's release and I liked it. Age shouldn't really matter, unless you are obsessive over the graphics of a game, or something.i liked mass effect. should i try knights of the old republic or is it to old

Getting a couple of games tomorrow, I know I want Burnout Revenge, the other is between Red Faction 2 and Contra Shattered Soldier (yeah I know, there's probly not many ppl that's played these two "gems") which do you recommend? I'll possibly get all three, not sure though. I haven't played Okami yet, I'm kinda scared I won't like it....DManSteelerFanOkami's supposed to be good. I played Burnout Revenge like last week for the first time and didn't see why it's liked by Gamespot so much though. I don't know, it's just a big free roaming map with races and stuff all over the place. I haven't played the other 2 "gems" as you call them.
You're welcome.thanks

I've got a small list of games I am looking forward to buy. Which of these are top priority and overall your favourite? God of War II (played before, and loved) Okami Shadow of the Colossus (played before, completed and loved) Viewtiful Joe (same as above) Zone of the Enders 2aaronmullan
since you havnt beaten okami i would get that first. its one of my favorite ps2 games
i was wondering what are the 5 best rpgs for the ps2, xbox, and gameboy advanced. thanks for your help in advance
For people looking for something different, I highly recommend the game Cubivore for the GCN. It's an eccentric title published by atlus that featured these creatures you tried to keep alive by eating other creatures, taking on part of that creature in one of it's shapes, and creating offspring. The goal is to create a strong enough creature to defeat the killer cubivore. It's different, that's for sure.
