I respect both consoles equally, but i have yet to find a console that has affected my life the same way the n64 has. It's influenced me so much and is part of who I am as a gamer today.

Because, The fisrt time i beat mario 64 and saw those credits roll I was in tears. No other game has made me feel the same way, yet...

you are completely wrong dreamcast had higher quality games from sonic adventure mario 64 could not touch in a million years and had variety gaming unlike the n64 its just nintendo shit being redone again and most being platformers unlike dreamcast which had lots of everything in each genre also i dont understand how anyone could think the n64 had a better controller the buttons were a mess the analog stick only worked well with goldeneye and the dreamcast was tidy with a vmu feature which was cool however i do have alot of respect for the n64 like with zelda very impressive

Umm, Mario 64 and Banjo shit all over SA on DC...

I own all of them and am a 3D platformer fan so I can talk. ;)

DC's best platformer was actually Rayman 2.

That's debatable. ;)

Personally, I didn't find it all that good, although I will say it was a solid platformer with some impressive visuals.

I have to agree. 3D sonic games just suck completely. Even the new ones are not that good in my opinion. Nothing like the old 2D sonic games.

how is that debatable? mario 64's camera issues and soapy movement makes it very much unplayable these days at least. I was never impressed by it but time has bene very bad to it. rayman 2 still stands out well.

they are different gens, thats like comparing the ps3 to the gamecube.

kingoflife9

Technically, yeah. But the N64 was a mainstream console, when the Dreamcast was a mainstream console. PS3 and GameCube were mainstream at different times.

So it's pretty easy to compare the N64 and Dreamcast, especially considering they share a lot of the same multiplatform games.

So we should also compare the Dreamcast to the PSX as well?

Why not, if you want to. They share a lot of the same multiplatform games, too, and were both active at the same time.

True, DC was mostly competing with PS and N64 during it's time on the market.

When the PS2 established itself and the GC and Xbox came out, DC was basically already "dead", with Sega pulling the plug on support. (atleast as far as US and Europe is concerned)

Still have my dreamcast and just got a used n64 (to replace mine that went missing). Honestly thought the DC was a crappy console. I feel like the N64 games had more personality but that's just imo.
