Agreed, MS games were stronger by far but the price and the DRM is a no sale.

They have the tech and games that I really want what makes it so God damn annoying and I'm bummed about PS4's cloud only used for backwards compatibility. I hope the PS4 kicks the shit out of them in sales and they're forced to drop all that crap. I would even pay the $499 for the X1 if they dropped the DRM. Hope it succeeds enough for the tech to become standard, but someone that doesn't impose DRM brings it. You don't need to do DRM to do what they're doing. You just don't. Cloud gaming and DRM are twi separate issues. Technology is amazing, restrictions are destructive.

In the end this is probably good for retailers as everybody from gamestop to bestbuy to Amazon are selling used games. Publishers want to sell the same game twice and it's good at least somebody said no.

It was a really poorly paced conference, but Sony killed Microsoft anyway by making them look like creepy big brother loving bastards. Used games. No DRM. No online check ins. The games are there; that's not even a concern. The biggest concern was....

$399 US DOLLARS!!!!!!!

I am super, super proud of Sony. They have obviously listened to all the criticisms people like myself have levied at them over the last seven years. And goddamnit, that's why I'm reserving one. Day Fvcking One ladies and gents. Plus, you can still stand it on its side. Payow!!!

The DRM is the real biotch and then when you couple that with the price its a hard pill to swallow. The tech is cool but they undermine it with content control.

It was the worst of conferences. It was the best of conferences.

But no really, it was pretty shit. When you choose not to showcase THE biggest first party line up on the planet and then win by default because your competitor is a stupid greedy anti-consumer pos company then you did not have a good conference. They spent literally 3 minutes showing off their first party games. The Ready At Dawn game got a decent teaser but that's about it. No gameplay. WTF. Where was The Last f*cking Guardian? Santa Moncia's game they have been working on since God of War 3? Or Uncharted 4? What has the Uncharted team been doing for the past year and a half?

Even the third party stuff looked like last gen. Destiny, Watchdogs, Ass Creed and indie games looked terrible next to MGSV, Batfllefield 4 and The Witcher 3. Good to know that the PS4 will have better versions of those games, but it still made for a shitty press conference. 

D+. And thats me being generous. They dont get any points for $399 since thats what they should have priced it at. And they dont get any points for not blocking used games. They lose points for putting PS+ behind a pay wall. 

P.S F*ck Sony for wasting two hours of my time with shitty game demos.

And yes Kinect did drive up the priec of the console but I think MS is following the Apple model and selling it for a decent profit. Remember, the PS4 specs are much better. 50% more powerful GPU and an expensive as f*ck RAM. MS got greedy. Plain and simple.

I thought the games were awesome. All of the multiplatform games on the system are the only console versions that will still work when this gens systems servers are taken down. The indie games are looking great, and the first party stuff looks as solid as ever.Randolph

Yeah, I love Amazon. I've never bought any hardware from them, aside from my Neo Geo X, and that was fine. My only concern is that with my luck, I'd get the prick postal worker who plays soccer in all his free time and uses people's packages for practice. Ah well, I can always send it back if it arrives jacked up. Plus, Amazon is really good at shipping stuff with those air bladders packed all around it so the Pele Jr's of the world can't fvck stuff up.  :P

I was too paranoid once I got jacked in to do anything else. My feed would stutter every couple of minutes and then a few times it locked up right around the price reveal. Would have been fun. There's always launch day. :)

You know what else is weird? I'm pretty staunchly MMO, but Destiny looked really frigging cool. It evoked the same feelings I used to get when I'd hook up with friends in PSO back in the Dreamcast days. When I first saw it, I was really not interested at all, but it took me by surprise. Definitely on the radar now. 

Definitely getting Watch Dogs at launch, I wish Forza 5 wasn't MS exclusive now :(

DRM-wise, they created this whole system to charge used games, I doubt they can just abandon it after they've already set things into motion.

They've basically screwed the pooch on this one, both by trying to make their console into this cable box monstrosity resulting in the whole DDR3 ESRAM bullcrap which ultimately hurt the console's performance, and hurt themselves in terms of price point by including Kinect which a lot of people don't care about.

It's not like they can redesign and relaunch at this point.

Seriously, I will pay to watch it.

This was very typical of a Sony conference: slow, methodical, speaking as much to investors as to gamers. They didn't show what any of their big guns are doing, but the fact is we know they actually have big guns in the first place. They said there are going to be 20 first party titles releasing within the first year and 40 are in development - that knowledge is enough for me. They also laid out the business model in place with respect to the services at launch and those coming online later. It was very informative and consumer friendly.

On the other hand, MS's conference was a lot more fun, if you're a gamer. But what I felt were the best games on display in their conference are not exclusives, and the ones that are, like the very promising Ryse, are from companies they don't own. So what are they going to do AFTER this batch of games comes out?

To me, Sony's conference was them saying " We have a plan," and MS's Conference was saying "look at the handful of exclusives we bought!" And then Sony rubbed their balls in MS's face with that youtube video. Stating this as a person planning on buying both consoles - tonight must have felt really good for Sony.

Judging by EBgames PS4 bundles, the DS4 costs $60
