[QUOTE="Pedro"][QUOTE="megahaloman64"]Also why cant you move with the knife, which idiot would stand still while fighting someone with a knife.megahaloman64

The devs of the game apparently would. :D

lol, lets see how long they'd last in a knife fight. Probably 10 seconds.

And you are the authoritarion expert on knife fighting I presume. Tell us Rambo, how should knife fights be implemented properly in a game then? If you are fighting an opponent who has a knife or other melee weapon (say a pitchfork that has greater reach) you are not going to run around like an idiot and expose yourself to an attack cause while you are circling behind him to be all badass he is stabbing you in the ribs. The only time you could safley move any way but backwards in a melee weapon fight would be if your opponent overexposed himself and presented a weak side, and even then you better know what you're doing and do it fast or you'll be sorry for it. A final point to consider is that RE4 isnt meant to be realistic either. And honestly Capcom knows a hell of a lot more about developing a good game than you (or me) so think about how much your choices on the design would completly change the game and ruin it.

Your advice would kill the game's suspense, destroy the pace, and make the game entirely too easy.

HiResDes

or it would turn it to a modern horror game, id rather playing any other game of that type, eg alone in the dark owns it

Modern horror game A.K.A standard faceless action shooter, why must the industry put out such homologous material just to please people?

It wouldn't necessarily ruin the game to make the changes he suggests; if you look at a game like half life 2 you will see that it actually has a lot of the same aspects that people like in RE4 but it worked in HL2. The screen was visible because you weren't staring at anyones back, better more varied, more colorful environments, better music, better story, better female characters, plenty of challenging parts, and you still get to shoot at the parasitic creatures coming out of peoples heads. And HL2 wasn't generic feeling either due to the quality of presentation and the gravity gun of course (which put the game into its own league altogether.)

Not saying that RE could be or should be HL, just saying that some aspects of the games engine were pretty horrible, and could have made a better game if changed.

From my understanding, isn't this issue being addressed in RE5? I remember it was said that you are able to strafe or something, although probably not while shooting.

Adding strafing at least addresses the issue of the franchise using tank controls, which several people claimed was 'fixed' in RE4, when in actuality the controls were almost identical to what you had in previous RE games. The only real difference was in the camera orientation to the character, and since it was character focused, the controls worked better than when the camera wasn't locked to the character.

I'd like to add that in previous RE games, you could go to control configuration and choose plan B or C to allow your character to turn around with one button. This can't be done in RE4.

To topic creator: I agree. I would hve enjoyed it if you inlucded scenes from the video to support the reasons you mentioned about why you think RE4 was overrated but you proved to many ---- who claim that RE4 improved the formula of RE games that the controls are almost identical. And the only thing superior is the graphics and the fact that the cam was put behind Leon.

Do you mean without using the control stick? In RE4 all you had to do was pull back on the control stick and press B.

Yep R1. press it and characters turn to the back to aim at zombies from behind. Only if you set that before you start the game.
