I'm looking forward to this game... on the PC. Yeesh... why have developers abandoned PC demoes these days? :evil:Funkyhamster
Have you seen the PC minimum requirements? They're ridiculous. Something like 2 gigs of ram, 15 gigs of HD space, at least a 7800, and a 3.2 ghz processor. And that's the minimum, aka lowest settings. Is this game Crysis in disguise or something?
Yeah, a lot like max payne, but with moreplayability (slide over tables, run down rails, etc), incredibly destructible environment. and graphics that look 10 times better on a tv screen. The game surprisingly runs @ a smooth 60 frames as well. Didnt expect the game to be this good.Astral_Vapor
Hmm... I like that. Might have to pick this up too.

Windows XP SP2 / VISTA (Games for Windows compliant)
Dual Core Processor
2 Gigs of Ram
Nvidia 7800 or higher / ATI x1300 or higher
Disk space: 15 gigs
While it's higher than most other games, it's not that bad. You could build a computer with these specs for around $700. I just hope that these are the "specs you'll need to play the game with high settings and a smooth frame rate", not the "specs you'll need just to be able to play the game at 20 FPS at 640x480."

I'm just happy the next gen consoles are powerful enough to run these games at high end settings. It saves me alot of time and money. I was playing this game this morning on 1080i resolution at 60fps with absolutely no hiccups.
The physics engine present in this game alone would cripple my three-year old PC.

Yeah, I am worried about how well it will preform with such high requirements. Anyway I think that there is going to be a PC demo closer to the release of the game. I am going to wait for that one because it felt kind of strange on the 360. If the game is not optimised well on the PC and has a bunch of problems or something I think that I will just rent this one.[QUOTE="phiwings72"][QUOTE="Funkyhamster"]I'm looking forward to this game... on the PC. While I wish those were the recommended specs, Kotaku reported them as the minimum requirements. I guess we'll just have to wait for it to come out to see.

Of the demo or game? I thought the PS3 game was to be released first, and with the Blu-Ray of hard boiled built in?

To be honest, that is what I want to hear. I want to see games getting advanced in not just graphics, but physics as well. This is very pleasing to me.

LOL.
Man its weird now that I have both machines. Its so hard to figure out which one to get these multi-plat games on. Much harder than last-gen systems, where there was usually always a clear choice.
This was one of those fringe games for me, meaning that I had it in my mind but really wasn't on my must-buy list. I have a feeling after I play it, though, that its going to have to be made a priority and added to my endless list of must-have games to get over the next half-year.
Wow, just got done playing thru the demo 3 times. I like how it unlocked more content with each play through. I played it on harb-coiled difficulty last and my only complaint is that it wasn't difficult enough at its highest difficulty. Then again that was probably a early level and as the game progresses it should get harder.
Anyways, this will definately be a 1st day buy for me. The graphics are amazing, the frame rate is steady even under the heaviest bits of action, and the distructable environments are hands down the best in any videogame I've played, none of the Red Faction BS. I'm also really diggin the gore. I wouldn't have minded a MP demo though, that aspect of the game is still iffy. But even if the MP blows, the SP will be worth it on it's own.

It seems like the type of game that is not so much about the difficulty, but more about finding the most awesome way to play it :D

Just the demo, I have no intention of buying this game. Still a free demo is always fun. IIRC the PS3 version got pushed back a week and yeah it comes with the movie included on the blu-ray, which is awesome.
Well then i'm sold on the PS3 version. Dunno why there's no PS3 demo right now but i'm downloading the X360 demo right now and i'll check it out.
Are you people joking about the PC minimum requirements? :|
I really, really, hope so... because I only have 1GB RAM and a 2.8ghz P4. If those specs are serious, my argument that a PC can last for several years playing games on lower settings just got killed. Violently.
Well I played the demo.
Its good, but not as great as its been hyped up to be IMO. The controls feel loose, and it seems like the kind of game that will end up being too repetitive. There's no one aspect that really truly impressed me.
With all the other games I'm looking forward to, and there's an insane amount, I'm gonna have to pass on this one more than likely.
I have two important questions for you: 1) how is the hit detection? Is it like RE4 where you can target limbs and stuff and have the enemy react accordingly, if this isnt spot on the games an automatic fail for me. 2) How is the gore? Less important by a large margin but can shoot legs off and stuff? If they nailed the hit detection and gore than the games an automatic buy for me, I need these for immersion otherwise I get bored.Well I played the demo.

As for the gore it is not really existent. It is pretty bloody in game and in the cut scenes the gore is increased for some reason, but you can't blow anyone's limbs off and the increased cut-scene gore is not in game. If it is, it is not very noticeable.Well I played the demo.

Not impressed. Tons of moving objects and explosions got old fast. Terrible voice acting. Don't know if that's intentional to imitate the lousy foreign film dubbing or not. Game looks worse in motion than the gameplay trailer they showed several months back. Animations is a lot more stiff. Sliding animation looks buggy. Hopefully this won't turn out to be a lame max payne rip-off with all shooting and none of its pacing like the demo suggests. banjobear_basic
Bad voice acting? Are you serious? It's better than 90% of the games out there, aka pretty much every game that doesn't have Keith David rocking someones voice. I do agree about the sliding animation not looking natural, "greased butt" was how I heard it described somewhere else, but it gets the job done and looks fine in slow-mo.
Honestly tho, I'm just surprised you didn't like the voice acting. I thought the cutscenes were superb. They seemed like real-deal Hollywood stuff to me.

There is hit detection implemented. Shoot a guy in the hand and he'll lurch over in pain, a knee-cap and they hit the ground, and the crotch, well... you can imagine. It all seemed very accurate while I played. The only thing that threw me off is that when you use a special ability that lets you zoom in and take a slow motion shot at someone, sometimes guys would grab their mouths or their eye sockets after a shot there. I can see a man surviving a mouth shot, but to the eye? C'mon now. Still, hit detection is pretty much excellent.
As for the gore, there's no limbs flying through the air a la Gears of War, but there's buckets of blood. The zoom-in shots I was just talking about are a great example of it, as the impact animations would probably be enough to sate any gamer's sadistic desires. Also, although it isn't apparent in the demo but is in videos, Tequila himself seems to get pretty bloodied up over the course of the game.

It would be interesting to know whether each game had a different development platform/team or whether its a console to PC port. I remember when Sons of Liberty was released it had insane (minimum & reccomended) specs for its time. One I think its probably not that well optimised and secondly it shows how different the architecture in consoles actually is to PCs. Im sure games like Crysis and Bioshock will have better scaling and minimum specs.

That's true, it probably was just a straight port of the 360 version. Because that sort of hardware is pretty much equivalent to a 360... and yeah, Crysis and Bioshock have much lower minimum requirements.
The demo did its job. Prior to playing it, I totally wasn't even thinking about Stanglehold, and now, well...... It's pretty awesome. Sort of like what I would picture a next-gen Max Payne playing like.
