Oh damn, that can't be good. I don't mind standing and playing stuff like sports games and other obvious games where you need to stand but if you can't sit down and use it then I guess you won't be able to use it's features combined in a more traditional way ala Zelda on the Wii. This sounds like it could be a big problem.[QUOTE="Archangel3371"][QUOTE="rragnaar"]
The word from IGNis that Kinect only works when standing up. GAFis having a field day with it. The odd thing was that in one of their promo videos, they show a guy fastforward a Zune video while sitting down. It would appear that this was completely staged.

aaron greenberg just said that you can indeed play kinect while standing or sitting, depending on the game.
i call bs since IGN reported having problems with navigating menus while sitting.
"This includes menu navigation. All the cool options to grab a slider and advance through frames of a movie you are watching only work when you are on your feet."
Again I wouldn't be too worried... I haven't seen the setup they used but I'd imagine they're setup so that you're supposed to stand at e3. The kinect cameras are pretty low def so if you're sitting further away from them than you're supposed to I'd imagine they would have a hard time keeping track of your arms. Honestly the quality of IGN's reporting is usually so bad that I'm inclined to be vary of any claim they make that isn't confirmed or even mentioned by any other source. :PDid anyone check out Gamespot's Live On the Spot Xbox party feed? It was awesome! Sure looked like an adventure for RyanM and the others... Rock Band, "Cole Train", Ice-T presented with a lancer (and cursing so happily :P), Seth Killain hitting the scene, Summer Arcade games, and a pair of drunk guys making racist jokes haha
Wonder if you can download that video later, best thing I've seen yet in E3 next to Konami's crazy conference!
Then I feel really bad for the guy who had to demo Dance Central. All that epic-sized embarrassment and he can't even brag about his score later.I think pretty much all the on stage demos were faked... Wouldn't be too worried about them, it probably has to do with getting the kinect cameras to work on a big stage.

There you go. Hook up a 1TB drive and never worry about space again.
S0lidSnake
Microsoft only recognizes the first 16gB of any external device you plug into it, so the remainder of your 1tB drive would be wasted. They do this so they can sell you their overpriced accessories.
so can i download games like Shadow Complex and Trials HD on to my 16GB USB and play them off of it?
what about installing games on the USB and playing them off of it?
Sorry I didn't respond to this earlier. The answer is yes, anything you can install to a an Xbox HD you can install to a USB flash drive as long as it's in the 16gB limit. You can even do a "full install" of a game to a USB drive, it works quite well.
I'm guessing that Microsoft really, really wants Kinect to work when you're seated when it launches but there's quite a bit of evidence that suggests that it's not currently working.
There's not a single live example of seated use at E3. This has got to be very worrisome for Microsoft.

MS confirmed that at the moment Kinnect doesn't work when seated, but they hope the media control functions of the dashboard will work by launch (of course, such functionality can't be thrown into games at the last second, but if implemented, it would turn up eventually in post-launch games).

wow. this is pretty bad. i am surprised that the media isnt all over this.
i guess those free Slims have softened up most of our journalists. *shakes head*
You cant sit down, omg. They claim to have it fixed for menus and stuff by launch. Apparently for games its a no for now.dvader654The more that comes out about Kinect, the more it strikes me as a modern take on some of the really gimmicky IR stuff that was coming out for the NES and Genesis, and not really much more advanced.

The technology is intriguing, but the implementation is terrible. There are some designs that would work better with an analogue, intuitive interface like the Kinect, but there are plenty of functions that require a button. I wouldn't mind seeing aspects of Kinect's technology show up in future iterations of Wii and PlayStation Move... as long as they include traditional controls as well.
On the subject of Kinect, I was pretty offended when I found out that Joyride - a straight-up arcade racer that is really a dying breed of late - is a Kinect-exclusive title, with no traditional control support and no real added benefit from the motion controls.DarkCatalystWell, that's just plain stupid. I guess the dev behind that one hates money.
