Releases November 1st, 2011
Metacritic 93 Universal Acclaim
Gamespot score 9.0

Story:

Drake goes to the deserts of Arabia to find some treasure. Makes some wise cracks, murders a thousand or so enemies and saves mankind from complete annihilation.

Characters:

Sorry for the lack of character names, but Gamespot's s***ty forum editor wont even let me add spaces.... spaces..... it's like we are back in the middle ages.

Mulitlplayer:

Co-op Adventure - Similar to Co-op Objective in Uncharted 2, now tied together with a story that spans across 5 levels.
Team Deathmatch: A fight to the end with teammates at your side.
Plunder: Bring the Idol back to your base.
Team Objective: Complete the objective before you enemies, best of 5 rounds win.
Three Team Deathmatch: Grab a Buddy and take on two other teams. 2v2v2.
Free For All: You fight alone and the victory is all yours.
Hardcore: No Boosters. No Medal Kickbacks. No Mods. Just your skill and more health.
High Stakes: Gamble with your XP and cash.
Co-op Arena - Survive the waves of various AI enemies.
Co-op Hunter Arena - Two teams of two fight to score three different treasures in three different chests.

Single Player Campaign:

It's going to be awesome, no info neccessary.

Hype (Or lackthereof):

It's funny how the Eurogamer 8.0 completely sucked the hype out of Uncharted 3, even with its 93 Metacritic rating. I suppose it confirmed most of our fears that it will just be more of the same. Regardless, more of the same isn't bad when you are more of the 2009 Game Of The Year and it looks like Naughty Dogs have outdone themselves yet again. Some excerpts to get the hype back on track:

Where is the hype????

There's no question here: this isn't just the best Uncharted game Naughty Dog have made, it's probably the best PlayStation 3 game anyone has made – and I'm not sure what other praise I can offer. - The Sixth Axis

This is a beautiful, cohesive, and, most importantly, fun adventure that cements the Uncharted franchise as one of the best around. More of a good thing is welcome here. - Gamespot

The present console cycle is expected to last nearly a decade, and there will inevitably be developers advocating the need for more sophisticated tools. But just like Machu Picchu, the Pyramids and every other engineering marvel of antiquity, Uncharted 3 will stand as a reminder to future generations of gamers that enough problem-solving imagination can turn any old trowel into a magic wand. - Edge

It is a majestic tribute to cinema, a movie game in the literal sense, and your enjoyment will be in precise step with your appreciation of that objective - and whether or not you believe it to be Drake's great deception, or Drake's great delight. - Eurogamer

Its near-perfect sequence of peaks and valleys demonstrates how restraint can imbue some moments with increased impact. - Gametrailers

- Harrison Ford

Launch Trailer
DO NOT WATCH THIS. Spoils Everything!

Game Directed By: Justin Richmond (MP director of U2)
Creative Director/Writer : Amy Hennings
Designer - Richard Lemarchand (Game Director of U2)
Composer - Greg Edmonson

So excited for this. I've been on an almost complete media blackout for it, so that should make it even more enjoyable.

I think early reviews tend to dampen the hype. Still I enjoyed the first game, loved the second one, and really looking forward to getting this one.

Who are you? Anyway what are you guys doing with co-op. Will you beat the campaign first then do co-op after or mix it in. I prefer to play single player first but I dont want to be left out if you guys start co-op.

Campaign first. Coop later.

Let's hope my copy arrives tomorrow. About 100 miles away from me currently but not sure if Streamlite is as fast as UPS or FedEx.

I'm keeping my expectations in check. Naughty Dog really set the bar high with their last entry, but at least the co-op adventure stuff will be fun. I'm hoping to finish them all in Crushing this time.

Skipping this one, at least upon release. SteelAttack

This is shocking news. Did they make anymore changes to the multiplayer since it's release?

My copy will arriving in the mail sometime today. Hopefully I'll have time to play it today because I certainly won't tomorrow night (girl scout meeting).

I've avoided spoilers pretty religiously (skipping many of the videos) though I read a few mild spoilers because I read the worst reviews just to see if they mentioned any reason I should cancel my preorder.

There is a day 1 patch planned and they have balanced out some of the weapons to make sure runnning and gunning isnt completely breaking the game.

I think Steel is in Skyrim mode which is why he's skipping this. I mean the dude played Uncharted 2 post Patch 1.4... THE most frustrating and broken multiplayer game i've played this gen not named MW2. A little weapon imbalance isnt going to put him off his Uncharted addiction. :P

Okay so it looks like my blockbuster isnt getting the game so Im going to have to buy it. I was thinking about picking up the MGS HD collection next week as well so figured i would use that Toys R Us buy 2 get 1 free deal. Can I pre-order games on that list or do I have to choose from games that have already been released?

They did a fair amount of tweaking, still not enough, but the game ended up being much more enjoyable than what it was at the beginning of the Subway promotion, although without reaching the levels of fun that the actual beta reached a couple months ago. I'm sure it'll be playable, especially with the day one patch coming. The reason I'm not picking it up is because, as S0lid said, I have my sights on Skyrim and wouldn't want to rush through the game because of having a new ES lined up. Maybe I'll rent it to beat story mode and pick it up further down the road.

I love Blockbuster! Just tried it one more time on way to pick up the game from Walmart and they JUST got their shipment. Save me $60! :D

They also got 10 copies which leads me to believe Sony shipped a whole s*** load of units. I'm expecting a 700K-1 million units sold just in its first month.

I've never been head-over-heels for this franchise but it's always delivered some fantastic gaming so I'll be nabbing a copy later today. I'm very curious to play the changes to the melee system, which I always thought we pretty solid to begin with.

Also, that Arkham City coupon I got when buying it from KMART means I get this for 29.99 so I'm feeling pretty good about the purchase. I also get an additional 20 dollar coupon when I buy this.

KMART has been doing coupons for the last three months almost non-stop but it's looking like it might dry up in November.

Still, they do this pretty consistently and all you need to do is sign up for the Rewards membership, which is free.

Things have calmed down since Chapter 3. Lol the first three chapters were Uncharted formula perfected.... Great writing especially the banter between characters, gorgeous visuals and engaging storytelling. The game looks like a CGi movie at times.

EDIT: Turn the Aming Sensitivity all the way to high. I dont know why they changed the aiming mechanics tbh, but it feels like Killzone right now. Makes no sense at all. Especially since the beta had better more responsive controls than Uncharted 2. I played Uncharted 2 a couple of weeks ago and the aiming was so natural I was pulling off headshots easily. Even got that 5 headshots in a row ingame achievement. But now it feels really really awkward. smh... why cange something that aint broken?

Am on Chapter 9 and not really feeling it. Not a fan of locations so far... U2 was so bright and exotic, it's been very drab so far. They did improve the puzzles though.... gotta give em that. Was stuck on one for almost half an hour. lol

And Travo
young drake and sully sequence was fantastic. It was hilarious watching Sully walk in the musuem trying to look all nonchalant. The chase sequence afterwards was freaking thrilling.
Solid you rented the game? So how are you going to play online?dvader654
How? Well if you get the copy before anyone else you get the code unused of course. :P Not only that, i also got the starhawk beta code because it came with the game.

I always rent my games on Day 1. Resistance 3, Gears 3, BFBC2 all used the unlock codes and I had my younger brother pick them up at 10 in the morning. ;p

I dont know what you guys are talking about, the start of this game is boring as hell. Yes the story is cool, interesting and exciting but you literally do NOTHING for about an hour. I swear I felt like I was playing Heavy Rain. The game was just tugging me along, telling me when to press what, yawn. The second area was fantastic though, once it got into the clasic action it really shined. The area was huge which allowed for experimentation. Nobody does an action sequence like Naughty Dog! The music is also incredible. There were some really good puzzles sprinkled in as well. This game needs far less slow platforming sections (they have not changed since the first, its all automatic, boring. Its fine when its mixed with OMG ACTION) and more Michael Bay. Uncharted 2 is still the better of the two so far.dvader

The music is indeed incredible. Especially in Chapter 2 and 3. Play this game on surround sound, it's bombastic to say the least.

I liked the opening because I was expecting something entirely different. It was a nice surprise, and chapter 2 and 3 also caught me by surprise. It looked as close to CGi as we will see a game look this gen. I loved every second of it. The rest has been very 'Been there... done that' except for Drake's new sidekick who is hilarious. I also liked the firefights in U2's Nepal levels a lot better.

P.S Make sure you are playing with Hints turned off otherwise the characters will just give away the solution to most puzzles. You can still press Up on the D-Pad if you get stuck to get a hint or two.

The aiming just doesn't feel right. It's too tight... it's almost like the aiming reticule is scared of enemies.

The rest is fine. Dont forget to use L3 for Sprint. I forgot about it entirely until just now when typing this messsage and I played through half the game already.

I finished the first seven chapters earlier today. Slowish start, actually not all that much shooting in the game so far but I'm sure that will change before long. The puzzles actually have you think for a change.

Exactly like me, I stopped on Chapter 8.

Definitely a slower start than usual, although I loved the opening the town looked awesome. Than the game dips in quality until the Chateau starts burning which was really awesome. Thankfully I ended on a high note because I didn't want to stop playing with a negative impression. I don't know why they changed the aiming, its not as refined. I felt like I could pull off some awesome headshots in U2, maybe switching to Hard mode and deactivating the Autoaim will help cause I feel its doing more harm than good.

I'm not sure if I like MLAA for a game like this, it works beautifully in a game like GOW3 with fixed cameras but shimmering is pretty noticable. On the other hand there is next to no jaggiez. The new melee is wickedly awesome, especially that bar room brawl, it felt so immersive and interactive, even if it wasn't. I can't wait to replay that part. I'm also hoping for Vistas that meet or exceed U2s mountains and hotel rooftop.

So yeah, it feels different which is good imo, but not everything is as good. The puzzle in that basement was clever I thought, hopefully the puzzles stay satisfying.

I'm certainly loving this game so far, strangely enough because of the characters and story. Don't get me wrong, the action is top notch, but it's the little touches that make this game, like Chloe giving Sully knuckles when she saw that he knew what the symbols meant on a map. I'm also very intrigued on how this will unfold. Maybe it's because I just finished UC1 and 2 this year and have grown fond of the comraderie between Nate and Sully. I love when these two are together and riff off of each other. That's what makes Uncharted what it is and why it excels where other third person action/platformers fail. At the moment, the action is no better or less than Uncharted 2. It's just getting started and I'm sure I've got plenty of "Wow!" moments ahead of me. I want to take my sweet time, soak in the surrounding area and pick up a treasure or two, but I also want to move ahead, eagerly anticipating the next great set piece. Such a conflict, I know. :P

Ummm... thats why we all love Uncharted. lol The characters are the biggest draw to the series... the story, though well told, has always been rather cliched and Indiana Jones-ish. THe main attraction has always been the banter b/w the characters and the characters themselves.

So dont fault yourself for liking the best aspect of the game. :P

EDIT: F1, Auto-Aim in enabled during Normal? WTF?

I loved the beginning of the game, probably up there with God of War III as my favorites. Yes after the first 3 chapters it feels more of the same, and WoW at the trees at the beginning of Chapter 6 Chateau, who needs next gen games ? :P I had to stop because of work and had a long day today :x As others mentioned, the aiming is stiff; it doesn't feel natural as Uncharted 2 and makes things tougher. I'll increase the sensitivity next time I play.

Naughty Dog still knows how to make their games look absolutely stunning. Made it to Chapter 8 before I decided to stop, and I have to say right now it feels on par with Uncharted 2 right now. Love it so far. The character voicework and banter is as good as ever, the new combat mechanics are fun to use (reminds me of Batman), and the shootouts still feel satisfying.

I'm playing it on hard right now, don't know if the controls feel off or not because I haven't played Uncharted since the beta, but they seem okay to me. I did up the sensitivity though. Enemies are noticably more aggressive this time around, more like the first game. They'll quickly run in and try and flank you, or give you more opportunities to try out the close quarters combat. New animations look great, though the transitions between them look a little off after coming from Batman. Not a big deal though.

It's a slow start, but I enjoyed how it played out. The gunfights have been pretty minimal so far, that's certain to change I'm sure. More adventuring and puzzle solving at this point. Good stuff. And wow at Chapter 7... I'm already pretty impressed with the game so far.

Some parts of the game are its own but most parts and set pieces are eerily reminiscent to Uncharted 2's. to me it doesn't do enough improvement to warrant its perfect scores. Its good but its not perfect. Also there are only like 3 different types of enemies.

The opening is nowhere near as strong as U2's.that train scene was just glorious

Ya I stopped around chapter 8 as well as most people. The game seemed slightly dissapointing at first but you get used to the gunplay and the action REALLY picks up. Looking back the slow start actually helps the game, because when it picks up it just makes it all the more sweet.

I thought I had an idea of what would be in the game, but I was wrong. I guess I expected Uncharted 2.5 just with bigger crazier scenes. Well this game blew away my expectations. Those guys at Naughty Dog are absolutely insane. All I can say to anyone who is only around chapter 8 to 10... just wait. You'll forget all about Uncharted 2 soon enough.

I can't see how it's even possible to make Uncharted 3 with only 2 years. I thought I knew what to expect from the level design, the story, the characters, everything... I was wrong. But believe me, that's a good thing. I'm about to be at the Cruise Ship. My jaw has been floored multiple times in the passed hour.

Those just cements why I think Uncharted is the best series of this generation.

The trees and that forest section reminded me of the End area in MGS3. Imagine MGS3 with these graphics.

It's interesting looking at the jungles in each game and how they've evolved and become more and more detailed in each game. Borneo looked a lot more detailed than Drake's Fortune's jungle, and this french jungle looks even better. I dont know how they do it tbh.

And I'm glad everyone except for dvader liked the opening levels. I thought they were brilliant.
