I can work with Ryu, Ken, Akuma, Guile and Sagat.
Ryu and Ken probably being my strongest fighters.

The Dan videos are up!
Forget what I said about him earlier in this topic. Yeah. He still looks ...ummm... challenged.
He has always been and will ALWAYS be THAT character, you know the one: "I just beat you with DAN... You REALLY s**k!"

On a more positive note: Each and every time I watch a SFIV movie, I can't help but be awed by the fluidity of the graphics and abundance of little animation touches here and there; muscles flex, clothes react normally... The colors seem so much more vivid now too! Between the "Okami"-like paper effects in the trailers and the ink-splotch graphical flairs, Capcom has the art-styIe honed to a whole new level here! This is the one time I am NOT upset a game went from 2D to 3D...!
[ I say this now, only cause I haven't been paying a lot of attention to King of Fighters XII... :P Never been much of a fan, but that game brings a whole new level to 2D hand-drawn animation... Ah. SNK and Capcom, still at it after all these years! ;) ]

BTW... If you haven't done so already, be SURE to click on Akuma's link. It's not just a moves montage! It actually is the Gouken versus Akuma Trailer and it is done in the paper effect styIe I described above. It is a MUST SEE ! ! !
I cannot WAIT to see it in HD on my own TV ! ! !

So... Barring the new challengers for a moment... 'cause no one knows how they play, yet...
Who's your character? Who's that one Street Fighter you always go back to? (For me it's Ken, if you didn't guess that already!)
Reading the profiles and watching the available videos, any of the new guys catch your eye? (I like the moves of Abel, but the agility of El Fuerte seems great too!)
(This was the original intention for this topic, btw...!)
Phantom_Leo
I prefer using Ken the most, but I also like using Chun Li and Ryu too. As far as the new characters, I'm curious about C. Viper.

I mostly stick to Ryu and Ken but I really like the C. Viper character and am interested in trying her out too.
I'll be maining Abel, subbing Ryu to start. Never before has a Street Fighter character been so tailor-made for my general fighting game playstyle. Makoto comes close but she's still way too strike-oriented. Bring on the Fedor clone, I say.DarkCatalyst
Sorry to hear about your injury!
So what do you think of my (Abel = Charlie) theory?

Honestly, I don't. I'm not reading much into the story, as this is the first SF since the series changed hands and will undoubtedly be retconned to high hell. In fact, we're already seeing it: Gouken's alive, Rose is back, Dan somehow survived his brush with Gouki...at this point, enough of SF's continuity has already been used as toilet paper that Charlie being alive would fit right in. It already feels like a non-canon, Vs-style fighting game (especially with so many Alpha characters appearing in Alpha form), so why not reunite the entire A2 cast? All we'd be missing then would be the Final Fight representation, and I shudder to think what Guy would pull off with this system.I was about to say the same thing!
Chun-Li's dad has been bumped up from dead to "missing."
Ryu and Ken's confrontations with Akuma always seemed to have something to do with him murdering Gouken.
Vega was supposedly dead --or-- maybe he's just a "ghost."
I've have seen Bison's soul get stolen and then he was sent to hell --or-- he was blown up with multiple nuclear missles, had a base collapse on him, and was then shot down with fighter jet missles, too... just for good measure... but he's fine...!
Rose was supposedly defeated by Bison, but she's back too!
Why not Charlie? Listen to the clips and I swear it's what they're hinting at!
____________________________________________________________
I don't mind one bit though. With so many multiple endings to the games, I almost never see agreement as to which ending is the "correct" one!
It's WHY I play videogames. The saddest endings can be reversed. The vilest of bad guys can be turned. Death is NEVER final... Life is too serious, games should have the right to be more "light."
I would like a consistent story to SF, but the very structure of the game makes it pretty impossible!
I understood what you meant about Charlie.
I never finished a SF game with Rose. I had ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA that she was Bison ! ? !
This. The link says Alpha 3 Story, but it's actually complete through 3S. Use it as a starting point. Going over it again, this did jump out at me: "There's still a small chance that Rose's soul remained within Rose's body and is now camatose (sic), as Capcom has not officially stated that she's dead."I understood what you meant about Charlie.
I never finished a SF game with Rose. I had ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA that she was Bison ! ? !

EDIT: Never mind on it being complete through 3S. That version of the guide does exist, but I'll have to look for it when I have more time.
Who's your character?
I'm looking forwards to playing as all of them. But I really wish Capcom had done more for the returning characters. I'm not nearly as excited about playing as them as I was, the new MK kharacters because they have no new moves. Is it too much to ask Capcom to throw in some new moves??? I know there's probably a lot of MK haters out there but I have MK vs. DCUniverse and I love it. Not onlydid the inclusion of DC characters change up the entire game but the addition of pro moves, gave it some deeper gameplay. Plus I noticed something, out of the ten returning kharacter, not only does every MK kharacter have at least one new special move (not to mention eight of ten khar's having two or more new special) moves BUT several of the characters had their special moves re-designed. I wish Capcom had thrown in at least one new move per returning character, just one. Or added a new super or something.
Who's that one Street Fighter you always go back to? (For me it's Ken, if you didn't guess that already!)
It's way to hard to pick one, so I'll just list my top ten
1.Ryu/Ken/Akuma
2.Ibuki
3.Guile
4.Blanka
5.Dudley
6.Rose
7.Alex
8.Sakura
9.Sagat
10.Cammy

I cannot wait to play as all five original SF4 character. Able, looks awesome, any guy who can match strength with Guile in my opinion is somebodywho probably can kick some serious ass. Rufus, looks absolutely ridiculous but after watching some Rufus videos, I have no doubt, that he not only can fight, has some cool moves and will probably be a blast. Crimson Vipethe character I know the least about but she seems cool and it's about time we see another female face. El Fuerte looks like the most fun of the characters. His over the top wrestling moves are awesome. Gouken is the character that I can't wait to learn more about, given the fact that he trained Ryu and Ken and all the mysteriousness concerning him. I also can't wait, to find out more about Seth. My only complaint was I just wish Capcom had given us more than six new charactSince, this is the first new SF title in ten years, I can't see why they couldn't have included eight new characters instead of five (not sure if Seth is playable).

Thanks for the credit Phantom, but like in a Street Fighter VS match, "Phanton_Leo Wins" over my thread anyday! LOL!
This is a awesome thread! Nice job. Great idea by introducing every character. And I'm glad you made a new SFIV thread. Nobody cared about my thread!
Anyway, this game deserves a huge OFFICIAL thread like this with gazillion replies. For a moment there I thought nobody was excited about this game other than a handful of fans. But I hope people are excited about this as much as I am!
Make this the official thread and hope you can re-post some of the reviews, CE pics, etc. here. That way we don't have to go back and forth. Besides, like I said, nobody cared about my thread! :(
Ah well. I pre-ordered my CE edition yesterday so I'm stoked!:D
Cammy video montage expected sometime today.
Now, we all know why everyone loves Cammy. It's her mobility, her long reaching, devastating attacks and nearly unpredictable supers. It's her mystique as an agent of Delta Red and her former brainwashed state, combined with the rumors of her ties with Bison.
When I post the videos of her in action, we will all show her the respect she deserves as a World Warrior. No rude comments will be tolerated, and ESPECIALLY no pictures of her will be allowed to bring down the level of this discus...
Eh. Nevermind I can't resist...

Seth is definitely playable. You can see him being used outside of his stage in the preview video I posted yesterday.
Don't be so quick to assume they're not getting new moves. Check out Akuma's Command Page here. That's quite a few moves and I'm not even taking into account the EX moves or Revenge Ultras!
Give 'em a chance on the characters. Remember when SFII came out for the SNES WITHOUT the Bosses playable. Then Hyper Fighting came along, adding them... Then Super came along, adding 5 more...
I don't think Capcom will make us buy new games, but DLC is easily feasible now!
Cammy video's up!
...and in a hopefully, totally unrelated video -- One Handed Fighting (must see) ! ! !
Creepy. (I mean, the HOME stuff).

Yeah that's the same kind of vibe I get from it too. They look kind of ugly and there is just something odd about them.

Super (New Challengers) only added 4... Super Turbo added Akuma. Also, with the way arcades are now, the console versions may have the same name as the arcade game, but they're actually the next versions, as demonstrated by new characters and character rebalancing in this. It was the same with games like Soul Calibur II: the game that we got in the arcades was actually Soul Calibur version D, so the console versions would be E, F, and G respectively with the new/exclusive characters in them, as well as changing up some things for the characters that were already in the arcade version.
So, fighting game revisions are still going on, they're just not as overt about them. Street Fighter II SNES didn't make the bosses playable because it was trying to be a straight-up port of The World Warrior in the arcades-- Champion Edition on Genesis was a port of, well, Champion Edition in the arcades, and Turbo was a port of Hyper Fighting in the arcades. On the other hand, Street Fighter IV on consoles is to Street Fighter IV in the arcade as Super Street Fighter II is to Street Fighter II, only this is the first revision, not the 3rd. :P

Thanks! that makes it as clear as mud... :P
j/k... I always refer to the 3DO version of Super Street Fighter II Turbo as just "Super"...
...sometimes I just plain forget allll the different versions that came to the market...
I never played Super on SNES... I had a 3DO and THAT'S where I first encountered Akuma... That's where I got my "5" from...
...but I know what you mean!
When it comes out for the Wii, it will be Super Street Fighter IV and will include Dee Jay, T. Hawk, Birdie, Rolento and Adon! :P
And he's French. LOL.
Abel
This young amnesiac chases down the remnants of Shadaloo. His fighting styIe is based on mixed martial arts and is well-suited to his mercenary background. Though he may appear to be a bit of a misanthrope at first glance, this is merely a side effect of his earnestness. He has no memory of his past.

**Uh-Oh**
These FightPads are nice, right? Well, apparently they're gonna be scarce too!
GameStop stores can't confirm to me if they are even being shipped retail.
The Capcom Store is mostly sold out already, except for a few Ryu's and Blanka's...
I preordered one from GameStop Online, BUT they won't even let you choose WHICH pad you receive...
I ordered a Ken and Akuma from Amazon; THEY let you choose, but they are coming a week and a half later... and they are running out! I'm worried I won't get mine at all and I ordered MONTHS AGO ! ! !
My advice, if you prefer the FightPad over the Sticks... ACT NOW ! ! !

Phantom_Leo
If your at all serious about fighting games there is no preference. :P
I already pre-ordered both CE versions for the XBOX 360 and the PS3, plus I also have hori sticks for both consoles, so I'm set to go. Unfortunately, there aren't any 3S characters in SFIV so you won't see me busting out my Q or Hugo. I'll be maining E. Honda instead and having C. Viper as my secondary. I might dabble with Zangief and Balrog. I never did care for the other World Warriors, outside of 3S Ken, and I don't really like the other 3 new characters and the Alpha additions.
My gamertags are on my sig so hit me up whenever. Just be warned, I probably won't be so good during the get go because I'm still stuck in 3S mode at the moment.
I didn't leave space at the beginning of this topic for Online IDs; I thought we would use Ask's Topic for that, but it doesn't look like that topic's going to be updated, so...

Well, I'm not sure if this is good or bad news, but it's still a important part of the game. Here's some new DLC details:
In this week's edition of Famitsu magazine, Capcom unveiled their plans for downloadable content for the PS3 and Xbox 360 editions of Street Fighter IV, due out mid-February worldwide. The content, which has been confirmed for the Japanese marketplace only at this point, will launch alongside the game's February 12 Japan launch and continue on a weekly basis for the next month, costing 320 MS Points or 400 yen in the PlayStation Store a shot.
What is it, exactly? Alternate costumes for all 25 characters, divvied out in groups of five. Here is the lineup:
- - February 12: Zangief, E. Honda, Rufus, Abel, El Fuerte
- - February 19: Chun Li, C. Viper, Sakura, Rose, Cammy
- - February 26: Ryu, Ken, Akuma, Gouken, Dan
- - March 5: Vega, Sagat, Balrog, Bison, Seth
- - March 12: Guile, Blanka, Dhalsim, Gen, Fei Long
- - April 30: All-in-one Pack (1000 MS Points, 1200 yen)
- American DLC details have yet to be announced, but should be coming shortly -- and should look pretty similar, too.
http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3172610
Shouldn't these costumes be in the game already? I really hope they're additional costumes and there are already alternate costumes already in the game like seen in those IGN montages. If not than this is kind of a bummer. I'll still get them though but I hope this is a third option costume.
This is why I hate nickel-and-diming microtransactions... whatever happened to rewarding good players with new content?MAILER_DAEMON
Yeah. Wasn't fighting games about reward when you pass the game with a certain character? Shouldn't you unlock these things when you pass the game with them or if you earn certain points? I bet in the future we'll see more of this, not just with costumes but with characters as well. There won't be anymore of those empty slots on the character roster screen where it would be filled by unlocking them. Now you have to buy them as DLC. It's coming, I know it. Some people are even saying these costumes are already on the disc but you have to unlock them by purchasing them. Kind of sucks when you think about it.
Anyway, bach to the SFIV DLC, like I said, if these are third option costumes, I'm down with it. But if these are the alternate costumes from the arcade version and Capcom deliberately cut them from the console versions to be DLC, then that's a little low. But then again, Capcom gave us six additional characters for the console versions for free. So this is a half-half situation for me.
Also, where do the CE exclusive costumes come into play here? Are they also going to be on the DLC stuff or are they a separate thing?
So... Barring the new challengers for a moment... 'cause no one knows how they play, yet...

GameSpot Street Fighter IV Preview in HD... Narrated by Charlie Brown. (A LOT of great information --BUT seriously-- can't they at least get someone who sounds remotely interested?)
GameSpot Street Fighter IV Launch Center... Again, I don't understand! Why go thorugh the trouble of presenting big, beautiful HD movies --ONLY-- to have what equates to one character walking back and forth in jerky motions trying to pull off special moves while Player 2 just sits there? Couldn't they at least get someone with a bit of SF knowledge to PLAY the game for the Character Previews? These are the most boring, beautiful, pointless, frustrating, depressing, HD videos I have ever seen!
Street Fighter is the ORIGINAL, adrenaline-inducing, utra-competetive, premiere fighting game of the entire Fighting Genre... It's all about kicking ass... at least raise your voice and have some fun while making your movies GS! JEEZ ! ! !
Well, it looks like my fears were right. The extra costumes in DLC are from the Arcade version so Capcom deliberately left them out of the console version as DLC. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it stinketh' a little, but Capcom did give us Cammy, Dan, Fei Long, Gen, Rose, and Sakura for free and not as 400pt DLC. So you win some you lose some I guess.
And oh yeah, here's some more DLC details:
http://kotaku.com/5147226/capcom-catalogs-street-figher-ivs-many-downloadables
The Championship Mode Expansion Pack, which Capcom says will be out "post launch", will include a replay mode, two new points systems and an enhanced tournament matching system.
• Replay Mode – Record, upload, and download top matches to share with the Street Fighter IV community. Players can analyze top tiered fighters matches, leave voter feedback for others, and share their own triumphant victories.
• New Points System - Two new points systems to measure your skill (Championship and Tournament Points)
• Enhanced Tournament Matching System - Skill level matching system offers improved tournament match making for beginners and mid-level players. Competitors earn Grade Points (GP) to earn entry into more advanced tournaments.
And one last note on the costumes. The Collector's Edition says there will be 5 exclusive costumes...are those original and new or are they that first set?
I love the attention to detail in the facial animations. It looks like there's a unique animation for every situation. I like the characters' "Uh-oh" face whenever their opponent uses their Ultra. :lol:King9999Yeah. SFIV has some of the best in-game animation I've ever seen. Every character is unique and has so much personality.
