Difficult to say a few games but, platform-wise it'd probably be the Intellivision, Commodore 64, Amiga, Playstation and xbox.

B-17 Bomber, Bard's tale, Elite, Moonstone, Final fantasy series and the Baldur's gate games. Oh and Starcraft for the PC.

And hundreds more :)

I won't say any games "made" me the gamer I am today, since I don't really define myself that way. As for games that were "important" during my childhood...

Sonic 2 was the first game I ever played.

Spent many days of my early childhood on my Sega Genesis.

Super Smash Bros. and to a greater degree, Melee.

No game was as competetive during my childhood than Melee. My brother and I would get pissed at each other during some matches.

I'd have to say Mega Man X. The whole X series really. They stole hours away from my life. When all of my brothers were sitting around, experimenting with smoking, I was up in my room playing Mega Man :)

I could say Super Mario Bros or the Legend of Zelda but I'm not. I'm giong to say a game that jaded me from the first moment I played. Every game since has seemed linear. A game that had intense multiplayer, a great community, and.......jetpacks. There has been no other game to date that has done it so well. That game was Tribes 2.

The games that had the biggest impact on me were:

Doom & Doom 2-- To go from playing NES side-scrollers to this engaging 3D fragfest was a huge leap. Even at that young age, I was absolutely amazed at the graphics and gameplay. It really opened my eyes to what might come in the future as technology progressed, and I think it's part of the reason why I'm pursuing a career in the industry now. (I have no idea why my parents let me play this game, considering they were pretty strict with everything else, but I'm glad that they did.)

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic-- It was the first game I had ever played where the emphasis was on story, more so than combat or puzzle-solving, and it felt more like reading a good book. I'm now a huge Bioware fan, as well as a fan of story-driven games in general.

Probably Super Mario Bros 3, I played that loads as a kid and I remember sitting up until the early hours of the morning with a mate trying to finish it one night with out skipping levels. There were a few spectrum games I loved too but I couldn't name them for the life of me now :(.

Hmm... Crash Bandicoot, Starcraft 2, Counter-Strike, Tekken, Goldeneye...that's all I can think of :P Yea, it would be those. :) If it wasn't for those games I probably wouldn't of played video games up till now, though that might be have been a good thing at some points of my life, exams for example. :P lol

NFS 3: Hot Pursuit - Used to play it on my cousin's PC when I was little, always trying to beat his times while he was sitting next to me giving advice. I believe that that was the influence that made me the fair, competition-loving fellow I consider me to be now.

While I'd been gaming for years before playing it, Morrowind was the one game that really made me into a gamer.

Well, SMB got me started in console gaming when I was 5 or 6 years old. So, that had a part in making me the gamer I am today.

I'd have to say that my favorite genre is FPS, and so I'd have to therefore say that Goldeneye 007 made me the gamer I am today in that respect.

rez, most probably.

the player i am today, right now is different to the player i was 2 years ago, and the player i was 2 years ago was different to the player i was when i began playing video games. rez was simple, satisfying, bright, deep, conceptual, and how do i say... 'funky'? lol. it defines my player identity well for this period of time. games i play regularly are often japanese rail shooters, sidescrolling shooters (or 'run & gun'), and action games. those are the habitual games i play. of course i play other types of games too.

Do I take the nostalgic approach, or the Buddhist approach? I probably would have been no where today without Super Mario World and Doom II: Hell On Earth, two of my first games during my formative years... but I would argue that Minecraft, my last-played game made me the gamer I am today, which is different from the gamer I was yesterday. And going to play Metroid: Other M right now is going to alter my gamer continuum yet again.

it's true that people change every second, every hour, every day... but i think certain games that we play have a big change on us, that alters our 'playing path' for a certain period of time. the games we play in one day might instigate small changes, but simply playing them is the result of one of those big changes.
