You would want to buy a game that supports a local co-op so your GF can get into the gaming world with a friend or you. Games like Gears of War, Army of Two, Borderlands and such are a good starting point. Personally, i would show her Oblivion and you wont bother thinking about buying another game for a year for her.
Good luck@
I have come to the conclusion that girls that are new to gaming will enjoy something just plain out fun. Something like Pacman or Qix can never go wrong.
The games my sister likes are 2D Platformers and Mario Sports games. She also likes the games like Rollercoaster Tycoon and Sim City.
[QUOTE="Mat9567"]Hi everybody, I bough Forza and I have not seen my gf and her friends playing at all. What kind of game do you like, dislike and why ?Lucianu
I'm not playing Forza, and i hate the racing genre. Does that make me a female also ?
Wait, you're a guy?!Speaking from experience, the girls I know like playing Rock band and mostly JRPGS like Final Fantasy. Some even play as an all girl group in Left 4 Dead 2. Only around 3 girls I've known play COD and Dead Space and actually good at it. A few do play action adventure like Bayonetta. The women I speak of range from 15- 20. I can't really tell what they like but they vary from casual to hardcore. One whom I know is ALodia Gosiengfiao who is really into RPG's. :)
I've heard girls like Persona? I also know a few girls who like Halo, & a few of them like CoD also..
my girlfriend just got into gaming recently...she never plays games. until a couple months ago she came created her a character on Demons Souls on my PS3 and she got hooked on that. since then I picked her up a 360 a couple weeks ago and she wanted Dantes Inferno so shes been playing that. told me she wants RE5 and Prince of Persia next.
You claiming a girl can play gears of war ? She must be very special ?Mat9567
From the start of this title, I noticed that you have an issue with girls all together. I suggest you lose your concept of gender identities then move from there. Or here is a question? ASK her? Just an idea.
As for this comment you just made. I would kill your avatar 10 different ways with a single bullet, so don't even go there, and don't think just because I am a female that I am a terrible gamer or "Special" because I am good at video games or play games that don't fit social stereotypes.
We'll play ANYTHING with Barbie, Brats or My Little Pony is a sure win. The DS and the Wii are the only consoles we find enjoyable. Also when you play with us make sure the difficulty is on easy. No wonder so many nerds don't have gfs....Peerbreed
I know right? O.O!
Girls are generally more attracted to games such as the Sims, fairly casual games which do not rely as much on winning/losing as the games that are popular among guys. According to a Dutch study, girls generally do not enjoy playing games that punish them for losing. With that in mind, the casual market is really your best bet.
Bias Polls are generally bias. ^^" The like 40ish girls I know that have consoles play FPS's ALOT o.O so there is no way that is accurate. . . .Girls are generally more attracted to games such as the Sims, fairly casual games which do not rely as much on winning/losing as the games that are popular among guys. The only kinds of games I don't like are sports games, I play pretty much everything else. But my favorite games are JRPG and survival horror.Katonymous
Sports games are mind numbingly dull XD Racing games are alright and Flight sims are good :3
But I think the worst games are those overbought FPSs like Call of Duty, Left 4 Dead... etc Its just blowing up stuff, like big deal?
my gf likes mario games...she sucks at sports games and she hates violent games like modern warfare and black ops..so i assume she'd suck at those as well lol..

I agree with FPSs being boring for the most part, but there are a few that I like, mostly the ones that focus on story rather than blowing everything up. I loved The Darkness, can't wait for the new one, and the new Deus Ex :D Story is like the most important thing for me when it comes to games, and alot of other girls I know are the same way. Seems like for the most part its the story that hooks us, not OMG EXPLOSIONS lol.A girl on these forums probably plays similar games to any guy on these forums, but a more casual gaming girl that is not really a gamer I would say plays well..more casual games. Whatcha know, so do guys! lol, I think the only major difference between the two genders is that guys are more often gamers than girls are. I know girls that play WoW, Halo, Call of Duty, Wii-play, Wii-this and Wii that, Mario, Zelda, Final Fantasy, you name it really.
I hate stereotypes >_>
I've known girls that likeanythinggame-related.
Halo,God of War,Silent Hill,Super Mario,TLoZ,Pokemon, and so on and so forth.

The amount of generalising going on in this thread is somewhere between frustrating and amusing. Also embarrassing.
@TC: The female like games the male like. Depends on person. We play Unreal Tournament 2004 sometime, I show you how female destroy male.
Just like males, what games a female likes dephends a lot on their individual personality and even skills. Do you know what genres she likes for literature and movies? Knowing that can help quite a bit.
One female gamer I know likes games like Quake 3 and Gears of War
Another I know likes games roguelikes, dungeon crawlers and mmos
Another one I know likes casual games like the Sims and Peggle
One plays more or less anything
Gender means nothing, what does matter however is the personality and tastes of the individual.
Well, if something doesn't match up with your experience then it MUST be false.[QUOTE="Mewi"]Bias Polls are generally bias. ^^" The like 40ish girls I know that have consoles play FPS's ALOT o.O so there is no way that is accurate. . . .forgot_it
If something doesn't match up with your poll then it must be false.
I love to play RPG - mostly WRPG as long as it allows me to choose the gender of my character instead of the ever generic male only, strategy games and niche titles like Naughty Bear and Saint's Row 2 - so much better than anything Rockstar churns out, their games are bland and the same tired nonsense.
Also very fond of Harvest Moon, some platformers, pinball and generally games that encourge me to think my way through things instead of simpling blasting my way through them.
It depends on her personality and interests. For instance I know there are females who like things such as Resident evil. Just depends on the person.
also, care bears.. and something with ponies in. lol.Nintendogs, any Barbie game, and maybe Wii Fit.

A study is not a poll. I also said 'generally', so just because your personal experience is different does not mean that the study as a whole is incorrect, especially since various companies have built successful business models on these data.
LBP is pretty much the go to game for getting girls into gaming this gen, mario kart for n64 is also a big one, pokemon is an option too though not sure if it's ideal, story heavy games are also good my gf liked Uncharted 2 cuz of the story when she played it, really just go for simple easy to learn fun to pick up and play games or story heavy games, and co-op is always a plus
Any game that is cute and simple is a must. Girls are stupid and don't like anything unless it looks like it needs a cuddle.LBP is pretty much the go to game for getting girls into gaming this gen, mario kart for n64 is also a big one, pokemon is an option too though not sure if it's ideal, story heavy games are also good my gf liked Uncharted 2 cuz of the story when she played it, really just go for simple easy to learn fun to pick up and play games or story heavy games, and co-op is always a plus

Well, regarding my exes as well as actual girlfriend they all loved Little Big Planet and usually a racing game (Mario Kart, Burnout, Motorstorm). They also like games that are simple to pick up, especially on my iPhone and the DS. But in the end it depends on the girl
