well the first "video game system" I played was a PC (a 386 I think) , but if you only count consoles, it would be the Gameboy.
Handhelds aren't consoles. :)Yes they are. And device that's mainly made to run games is a console.
Home computers like the C-64, Specturm ZX, Amiga, Atari ST, DOS and Windows PC and MAC, however, are not consoles. Neither are smartphones.
Handhelds aren't consoles, and you do know what the definition of CONSOLE is right? (Also, I heard you call the PSP a console and other than the buttons it is not primarily focused on gaming.)[QUOTE="nameless12345"][QUOTE="theJakandsig"] Handhelds aren't consoles. :)theJakandsig

They *are* consoles, just that they don't need any external display device.
A console is any computer that is mainly used to play games and does not allow advanced features (such as programming, video editing, ect.).
And I really don't know what you mean by PSP not being mainy focused on gaming.
The good ol' Sega Master System was my first system. Amnesiac23Yeah, it needs to be put in the console hall of fame!Love that system. Wasn't it the only system that had a secret game in it? Remember the snail game? Hold down 1 and 2 buttons, hold down to the Dpad to the left. lol
That was a great game! I had it on the Dreamcast and I would like to get another copy. I think it is rather cheap online. Great game though.N64 with Spiderman my FAVORITE GAME!

Awesome game. I owned it on PS1. But I've since upgraded to the Dreamcast version. There is a direct sequel to it, but it's only available on PS1: Spider-Man 2: Enter Electro. It's just as good.

Did not know that. I may have to check that one out. My PS1 doesn't get a lot of play time right now, mainly because I have a rather small library for it.The N64! Great memories.....Playing Super Mario 64 and getting stuck...those were the days...ahhhh. I also played alot of Gear Rally, a great acade racer on the N64, it was so much fun speeding and hitting a corner just right that it would send you flying and spinning! :D
Hey hey, another old-timer! *high five*. Collecovision here as well, also the Atari 2600 and Atari ST. One of my very first games was ET, it's a wonder I continued playing after that abomination.Played first time- Pong
Owned first time- Coleco Adam, hybrid Colecovision and home computer

Since I was a little kid in the early 1980s it was the Atari 2600 with my parents buying random 30 atari games for us kids. The E.T. game we liked and dont believe in the whole video game crash BS
Basically for older peeps like me it was the Atari26 and then watching our dads fiddle aroung with their IMB computers and MacIntosh computers fooling around with C++ alll the time LOL
