[QUOTE="Needles-Kane"]GC, so mediocre and did almost nothing to trump over the competition- graphics worse than XB, no online, and weak library. Of course N64 couldn't compete against PS1, but at least it offered some games and experiences that the PS1 couldn't come close to due to the superior graphics and multiplayer.bigM10231
most of this is wrong 1 graphics could be up to ps2 levels 2 it had online but those were sega ports and some nintendo games had lan it had 700+ games in the library

Both the Gamecube and PS2 were less superior to the Xbox in terms of graphics. And the Gamecube WAS more powerful than the PS2.

As for the worst Nintendo console, I would have to say the Virtual Boy. It was an interesting concept, but it wasn't done right.

The N64 because it didn't come with an adapter to play previous Nintendo console titles like the Gameboy adapter for Gamecube (that thing is a godsend) for instance.

NES is the worst. Followed by the SNES. Not counting handhelds, though...

We're talking about Nintendo consoles here, if you didn't notice. If I remember right you said in another thread that the N64 is the best console (from any company, I suppose, as you mentioned the PS2 as well). Thinking that the SMS and the N64 were good while at the same time thinking that the NES and SNES are bad doesn't make any sense to me. Would they be similar to each other in any way (the SMS and the N64) other than that they both had tiny game libraries, and few great games (according to common opinion including mine)? Wait ... they were both severely lacking RPGs and strategy games. But that's not why you like them is it; because they both had in common that they lacked something?

I'd say you're either a very inexperienced gamer or a seriously deluded fellow. But, yeah, it's like your opinion, man. I get it.

So, another fanboy. First, I wasn't talking to you. Second, no, I think I didn't mentioned PS2 as my favorite console. o.O And, just because I like the N64 the most I need to like the NES? Do a favor to the world and get a life. SNES for me is just Metroid. I've played a lot o SNES games, but that game is the only reason for me to own a SNES. And I never liked the NES. Maybe two or three games. So, yeah, it's the "worst" Nintendo console for me. Sorry for don't liking your beloved console. *Hey, I think the "Nes-colored" GBA Micro is the ugliest console too. You'll have to live with that.

Yes thats right ladies and gentlemen... teh WORST is:

The Nintendo Wii

It even looks like cheese, and the games certainly stink of it..

Whats everyone talking about, N64 was great, I'd still rather play Perfect Dark on that, than the tripe they call games on the Wii.

I honestly don't care. I responded because you didn't state a reason for calling the NES the worst Nintendo console. It's not like I'd let it bother me in any way that someone has a crazy opinion about games, consoles or Nintendo; I responded, and that was that.

I believe that the Nintendo 64 system is probably one of the most disliked Nintendo systems of the mid 90's. At first, it was Nintendo's powerhouse. Everyone wanted to play it's famous "Super Mario 64" game. A few years later people started complaining that the only good game was Super Mario 64. Although it had good design and handiness, it is now known as "The system that everybody loves to hate, yet hates not to own". This system was also shown in the comedy show "Mind of Mencia". Carlos told the audience what he thought of the system, got a sledge hammer, and crushed it. I also agree with many reviews, the Nintendo 64 may have been popular for a year or two, but quickly became one of the worst Nintendo gaming systems.

I would have to say that the n64 would easily be the worst in the line of Nintendo Home consoles. Yes, it brought us some imaginative new titles such as Paper Mario and SM64, but it was also by far the most limited of its generation (ps1/n64/Saturn), in no small part due to Nintendo sticking with cartridges, and never releasing the 64DD add-on, much less integrating it. Also, while the RAM expansion pak did great things for compatible games, now we have an ultra-hard-to-find add-on that we ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE for some games like Perfect Dark. And while Space Station Silicon Valley may be an odd title for n64 players to have, it was incompatible with it, which meant that those of us like me who most likely tossed out the old jumper pak suddenly have to go fishing for it in order to be able to play some games that don't like the extra RAM. This generation also enjoyed some of the best cheating devices... namely, the awesome Gameshark Pro which enabled players to be able to hack their own codes. But the n64's version of it was easily the most SNAFU'd edition, needing extra hardware/software and a PC to link up to, or siphoning the extra RAM the RAM expansion pak provided. If you didn't have that, you had no hacking capabilities. And you were also SOL for games that used or required it to play (looking @ you, Perfect Dark  ). I get that many devs were trying to cash in on the "64" name, but really...I think we could have done without so many titles with the 64 on the end. Nintendo was particularly guilty of this. For handhelds, the crown easily goes to the Virtual Boy. At least none of the other Nintendo consoles resulted in KILLING someone, much less their own creator/designer!

I would say the Gamecube. Although it had a few must have games on it like Resident Evil (REmake) RE0, RE4, SSBM, Metroid Prime, Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes, and Zelda Wind Waker, it didn't really feel like a true Nintendo console due to it's awful controller, kiddy and childish design, and severe lack of third-party support was what killed it for that system. I'm not surprised that I always played my PS2 alot more.

Of what I've played I'd go with the Nintendo Wii maybe the Nintendo DS. Supposedly their innovative but they contain the same games any other Nintendo system has. They don't feel fresh at all once you actually play their games. Their not terrible, but I had expected better.

it pains me to say this, but I have to: The NES

As much as disapointed as I am in the Wii. I want this to be know it's not the NES's library, that I hate. It's the NES's HARDWAREthat makes me label it as Nintendo's Worst Console.

As bad as the Virutal Boy was, and as annoying as the Wii and it's game library are, at least they didn't require nearly a half hour of tinkering in order to get the games working, only to have them crash, freeze, or become distorted after 5 minutes of game play. I don't think any of us will forget the Blinking Red Light

I'm a big RPG fan, so the worst Nintendo console for me would be the N64. The only RPG that I am interested in on that system is Ogre Battle 64. Gamecube wasn't too much better in the RPG department, but at least it gave us 3 great RPGs (Fire Emblem, Tales Of Symphonia, and Baten Kaitos).

The Wii wins by a mile when it comes to being the worst console that Nintendo has ever made. However, if I must stay within the confines of legacy platforms, then the Virtual Boy takes my vote.

Exactly correct. The Nes's hardware killed it for me. yeah, it has Super Mario Bros and Duck Hunt, but in my opinion, they aren't worth 2 hours of messing with the system.

Then again, I have very little experience with the gamecube and Virtual boy.

I don't know why people mention the Micro. It wasn't the worst, it was just not marketed at all, and came out when it wasn't needed. I bought the 20th anniversary one (WHY IS THERE NOT A FAMICON THEMED DS!!!!), and it's sleeping in it's box hopefully collecting value :P

Anyways aside from the Virtual Boy which pretended to be a portable system, but wasn't at all, I'd have to say the Gamecube maybe? And I say this because while it had most of my favorites from N64 and more, it did NOT have Banjo Kazooie! :P Darn that Rare going to Microsoft. Banjo Kazooie was my favorite N64 game.

And to those saying the Wii, shame on you. Virtual Console, WiiWare, and great games? Just don't buy shovelware, and you've got a great system. That's the same case for other consoles. Don't buy crap, and you'll have a good system.

That's why you either: - Find a standard NES and get the replacement gold connector repair kit to fix the design flaw that those had with the connectors eroding (the original NES connector pins for the cartridges were made of tin), or - find an NES2 (a.k.a. "top loader") with the added bonus of not having a 10NES chip in it, at the sacrifice of no higher-end A/V output, or - get something like this, since Nintendo has lost the license for the patents of NES hardware, leading to tons of NES-on-a-chip IC development, and why there are tons of rip-off NES emulator "TV play" items over at any given shopping mall nowadays. At least something like the linked system I just passed will take the actual cartridges, won't have a 10NES chip (meaning no region locking or the "green screen" problem that plagued the originals), and usually better audio/video capability, at the sacrifice of reduced compatibility.

The N64 is imo the worst Nintendo console ever.

That's where they fell off their throne and never fully recovered until the Wii hit. There were some great games for it, but not enough to compare it to the competition. They got blown out of the water with their N64, and it's not hard for me to see why.

Out of the five main consoles? The Wii. It's not terrible or anything, just don't find it as good library wise compared to the other four. Next worst is the GC, it's actually a good console but not enough classics like the PS2 had, I can't really choose between SNES and N64, I would say N64 but the libary of games is absolutely legendary, but the joy stick is horrendous. NES was my favorite, most likely because it never really froze on me and it still doesn't. I must have a good 40k+ hours spent on it.

Its easily the Virtual Boy.

Also, I would like to point out that the gamecube did have online play. Phantasy Star Episode 1, 2, and 3 were all online, plus a game called homeland, butit was only released in Japan. The cube also had LAN support for Mario Kart Double Dash, 1080 Avalanche, and Kirbys Air Ride. You did need to buy a gamecube broadband adapter first though.

Gamecube. It just didn't have as many awesome games, as the other systems. Skies of Arcadia was great, though.

I was always a fan of nintendo, I had all the systems up until gamecube came out. I stopped playing games around the end of the 64 era, so I missed the gamecube. Around the end of summer last year I pulled out the 64 and started playing again. then I got a wii, sadly dissappointed in that console. It just sits there waiting for my 7 year old daughter to play it and she likes it but it really doesnt hold her attention for that long. I went back to playing the 64 until my buddy gave me a 360, that broke down and now im back to playing the 64.

the wii's graphics look like crap, i dont even care about the motion control stuff, if I wanted to exercise id go to a gym. I dont even care about it being a bestseller because most people who buy it arent gamers anyway

eh thats a hard question with the options you gave i would have said one of the handhelds but with just those options... eh id have to say the gamecube meerly because of how hated it was by alot of people. I for one loved mine and giggled at everyone who didnt own one when RE4 came out. at this point i have less games on my wii then i had on any of my other nintendo consoles but seeing as its current gen i guess i need to wait and see whatelse comes out.

it pains me to say this, but I have to: The NES

As much as disapointed as I am in the Wii. I want this to be know it's not the NES's library, that I hate. It's the NES's HARDWAREthat makes me label it as Nintendo's Worst Console.

As bad as the Virutal Boy was, and as annoying as the Wii and it's game library are, at least they didn't require nearly a half hour of tinkering in order to get the games working, only to have them crash, freeze, or become distorted after 5 minutes of game play. I don't think any of us will forget the Blinking Red Light

Funny you say this because i never had any problems with my old NES all the games ran fine and rarely froze (unless you bumped the console)

But, just like the PlayStation2, there were known manufacturing issues with the NES. With the original NES, there were a couple of underlying sources for the bulk of the problems that many people had. First and foremost was the infamous 10NES chip that provided the hardware DRM and region locking. The issue was that this chip wasn't particularly... well-soldered, I guess I could say. If it didn't initialize properly, it started causing those "green screen" and the alternating screen issues where the console didn't want to play certain games. So even back then, it seemed that DRM was a big problem with making it difficult to play the games we owned. The second primary issue with the original style NES's was with the pin system inside the machine. Simply, they were originally made with tin, which over time would rust and oxidize, and lead to bad connections and helped create glitches and the need for cartridge cleaning systems to try and keep them clean and lubricated enough (but not too much to cause a short). Nintendo did issue a fix in the form of a repair kit which let the cartridge pin header inside to be replaced with a new one that used gold connectors, and effectively resolved this problem. And while the NES2 (a.k.a. top-loader) did fix these problems by not having the 10NES chip at all and being made with the revised cartridge link that was directly soldered to the mainboard, its downside is that it didn't support A/V connections like the old one. :( The side benefit though was that the top-loader was effectively region-free, able to play PAL and NTSC games with no video or performance problems. :)

Yeah, probably Virtual Boy in general, but...SNES for worst actual console.*gets behind flame-proof barrier* I dunno why, I just don't have any real good memories of playing it...I remember playing TMNT 2, Bubble Bobble, Super Mario Bros. 1 and 3 and Excitebike on the NES, and Banjo-Tooie, Mario Kart 64, Super Mario 64, Mario Party 3 and the 007 games on the N64, and Animal Crossing, Kirby air Ride and the Mario sports games on the GC, but nothing really shines with the SNES except Super Mario World...=/
