Bledsoe wouldn't have been able to move his hands and arms fast enough to make the hold. He's slow as molasses. Burton is only saying Bledsoe would have made that play because he's a Pats fan, it's common knowledge.Bobbles
Did you miss the part where i said "Theismann was a better 'holder' than Romo" huh, huh, huh?????

Yeah, because you're a Pats fan. What Pats fan cares about the Redskins' or their players? None.

Do you even bother reading a post b4 u reply? I said Theismann was an example of a QB andholder during his career, I could name others but why bother -- no matter what i say you'll reply with same kind of crap that u always do. "Oh he's not a true fan. He likes more than one team (even though you do too). he follows HCs" blah effing blah

Let me ask you this, you hypocritical homer p****: What did u think of T.O. while he was a Niner and/or Eagle? Did you like it when he profiled on your sacred star? Did you hate him? I bet you LOL'd when Williams' horse-collar broke his leg, right?** Oh but now he effing owns all WRs cuz he wears the Dallas uniform, eh? You cheer for laundry, you're mouthy, and one of many reasons other teams frackin hate Dallas fans... you just can't STFU, even in defeat, (or after 12yrs w/out a playoff win) Pathetic.

** if so, then you are no better than the Eagle fans who cheered as Irvin lay on turf, injured, career over.

LOL @ you for taking all this seriously, dude how many times do I have to tell you to stop taking yourself and this crap too seriously? Oh and I never ranked T.O as the #1 WR in the league, you did. I have never once said you weren't a true fan, all I said was your a Pats fan and oh I'm a hypocrite. You don't make any sense and you just make assumptions, which are always wrong. So, like I said before, stop taking this so seriously! Half the time I only reply to you because you bring up my name, you ask for it so I give it to you.

BTW, you're a Pats fan first, we all know it so stop denying it!

Colston gets three-year extension from Saints

(AP) - Wide receiver Marques Colston got his reward for playing far beyond the expectations for a seventh-round pick.

Colston, whose 168 catches are more than any NFL receiver through his first two seasons, agreed to a three-year extension that could keep him in New Orleans through the 2011 season, Saints general manager Mickey Loomis said Wednesday night.

Loomis said the three-year extension gives Colston, who was scheduled to earn about $445,000 in the final year of the three-year contract he signed as a rookie, a fair raise while also giving the 25-year-old receiver a chance to negotiate another contract when he's 29 and still in his prime.

The deal also means Colston, recently acquired TE Jeremy Shockey, running back Reggie Bush and Drew Brees all are under contract through the 2011 season.

Great news right there, knew they were working on it. Jahri Evans will be next to get an extension. Now to get the rest of those draft picks signed.

Boldin: I won't re-sign with Cards

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) - A major storm hit the Arizona training camp one day before practice begins, when standout wide receiver Anquan Boldin lashed out at the Cardinals organization for failing to follow through on what he said was a promise for a new contract.

He said he had told his agent Drew Rosenhaus to end negotiations and that he would not re-sign with the team.

"Right now I don't want a deal," he said Thursday after the players went through a running drill. "You may think I'm funny or saying that just to say it, but for me, I'm tired of it. I washed my hands of the whole situation."

Boldin, a two-time Pro Bowl player and a team captain last season, said that he was promised a new contract before this season.

He has three years left on the four-year, $22.75 million contract extension he signed after the 2005 season that keeps him under contract through 2010. He's making an average of $4 million a year.

Arizona's other standout receiver, Larry Fitzgerald, signed a four-year $40 million, deal after last season, with $30 million guaranteed.

"It's not even about Larry's deal," Boldin said. "Larry earned everything he got. Honestly, he played his butt off. He deserved it."

Boldin, considered the heart and soul of the Arizona offense for his rugged, intense play, was asked if he felt the Cardinals had lied to him.

"Pretty much," he said.

"I'm real disappointed that it came to this point," Boldin said, "but for the last five, going on six, years I've given everything I had to this organization, dedicated myself and went far beyond what I'm supposed to do on the field."

Coach Ken Whisenhunt said he understands Boldin's frustration but still hopes a deal can be worked out. The Cardinals have little room left under this year's salary cap.

Rosenhaus and Arizona general manager Rod Graves met Wednesday night, but the sides were not close to an agreement, Boldin said.

"We are sensitive to the fact that he wants a new contract," Whisenhunt said. "We tried to address it. The first chance we get we're going to continue to try to do that. Hopefully we'll go forward and everything will go smoothly."

Boldin denied reports that his agent had asked the Cardinals to trade him, but when he was asked if he would prefer a trade now, he said, "Honestly, I don't know right now. I can't answer that."

If he isn't traded, Boldin insisted he could put aside his anger toward the front office and play the game as he always has.

"I'm going to do everything my contract requires me to do," he said. "If I'm supposed to be here, I'll be here. I'll outwork anybody on this field. I'm going to show up and be on time. I mean, I'm going to perform like Anquan. I don't know another way."

Whisenhunt played down any impact of the disgruntled team leader letting his feelings be known the day before practice starts.

"I think the reason Anquan was a leader (last year) is because the way he plays, the way he works. I don't think that's going to change," Whisenhunt said. "When you talk about professionals, Anquan to me is one of the ultimate professionals. He's going to show up and give you everything he's got, and I don't see that changing."

A second-round draft pick out of Florida State in 2003, Boldin immediately established himself as one of the league's best. He is the fastest in NFL history to reach 400 career receptions, doing it in 67 games. In his five seasons, Boldin has 413 receptions for 5,458 yards and 29 touchdowns.

Asked why he should get a new deal two years after signing his old one, Boldin said, "Because I've earned it."

"I think my numbers speak for themselves," he said. "Even they (the Cardinals) came out publicly and said that I outplayed my contract. I don't have to make a case to anybody why I'm deserving of a contract. That's self-explanatory."

You only have to have a certain number on the line of scrimmage, Steve Spurrier and Houston Nutt (former Arkansas now Ole Miss head coach) have run a few plays like this to confuse the defense.

Some fast LB's and DE's would probably be good against that, and like 7DBs! Maybe the bears should try something like this with Hester and TBA.

Broken finger could cost Rams' Adeyanju a month

MEQUON, Wis. -- St. Louis Rams defensive end Victor Adeyanju will be sidelined two to four weeks after breaking his right middle finger in practice Sunday.

Victor AdeyanjuAdeyanju

Adeyanju, a fourth-round pick in 2006 who started seven games last year, was sent back to St. Louis on Monday to have pins inserted. Coach Scott Linehan said it could be as short as two weeks and as long as a month before Adeyanju is cleared to return.

Adeyanju is competing for a backup spot at end after the Rams took Chris Long with the second pick of the draft. Adeyanju started nine games his rookie season after the Rams released Anthony Hargrove in a disciplinary move, and is perhaps the team's best run defender.

"Once he gets that wound healed he'll be able to get some work done with a club on that hand," Linehan said. "It's a complete fluke deal."

Bengals' Johnson (ankle) sits out practice

GEORGETOWN, Ky. -- Pro Bowl receiver Chad Johnson didn't participate in the Cincinnati Bengals' first practice of training camp because his right ankle hasn't fully recovered from surgery.

Johnson spent time Monday rehabilitating the ankle, which was surgically cleaned out last month. The ankle is still sore and he runs with a pronounced limp. He warmed up with the team on the field and then went into the trainer's room.

"I know he wanted to be out here," receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh said. "But what he's got going on right now with his ankle is tough. But it will be cool. He'll get better and we'll win some games."

Offensive coordinator Bob Bratkowski said Johnson is expected to be ready for the start of the regular season.

"We knew when he came in to do his physical that he was not quite where he needs to be," Bratkowski said. "He'll go through certain phases of rehabilitation and conditioning and when they feel he's at a point where he's strong enough and back to where he can go full-speed, he'll be on the field."

The Bengals held their opening practice without top draft pick Keith Rivers, a linebacker from Southern California who was projected as a starter. Rivers, the ninth overall pick, is the Bengals' last unsigned rookie.

The defense suffered a setback when Antwan Odom hurt his left foot and rode off the field on a cart. The defensive end was taken for tests to determine the severity of the injury. Odom was the team's top defensive acquisition in the offseason, signing a five-year deal.

"They'll do some scans and so forth on his foot and see what it is," coach Marvin Lewis said. "I have an idea what it is, but we'll wait until we get some things confirmed."

The opening practice also represented a major change for the franchise: Willie Anderson lined up at right tackle with the second-string offense.

The 33-year-old lineman is entering his 13th season, making him the most tenured Bengals player. He had his first significant injuries last season, when foot and knee problems limited him to seven games. Anderson made the Pro Bowl in each of the four previous seasons.

Concerned about his leg problems, the Bengals have installed Stacy Andrews as the starting right guard. Andrews filled in at right tackle for 11 games last season.

Anderson initially balked at the demotion but has accepted it because he doesn't want to cause a rift.

"I've kind of changed my stance on that," Anderson said. "My thing now is: I want Stacy to be the starting tackle. I'm not going to fight it. I don't want it to be a competitive situation because I'm 13 years in [the NFL] right now and I don't have the energy to try to compete. I know that there are some things physically that in training camp, I'm not going to be able to do full-speed all the time."

Anderson looked good in the opening practice, moving much better than he did at any point last season. The Bengals plan to limit his participation in practice to keep him healthy.

"With Willie's situation, it's not just an issue with one practice and how did he look," Bratkowski said. "It's how over a two-week period is he going to hold up? Time will be the only thing that will tell that."

Lewis said Anderson has a chance to regain his starting job if he stays healthy and plays at his customary level.

"A lot of places, you don't get that opportunity, but he's earned the opportunity," Lewis said. "Willie, when healthy, has been a great football player."

NFL will not discipline Lynch for role in hit-and-run

PITTSFORD, N.Y. -- NFL commissioner Roger Goodell personally informed Buffalo Bills running back Marshawn Lynch on Monday that he won't be disciplined by the league for a hit-and-run accident that left a woman injured.

"I think the facts are clear on the case at this point in time, and I don't plan any discipline," Goodell said Monday, during a visit to Bills training camp in suburban Rochester.

Marshawn LynchLynch

Goodell based his decision on the fact that Lynch eventually agreed to plead guilty to a traffic violation, which is not a violation of the NFL's personal conduct policy. Lynch initially faced more serious charges.

Goodell warned Lynch of the importance to act responsibly because he represents NFL players, the Bills and the league.

"He understands that responsibility," said Goodell, who made the visit in part to meet with Bills owner Ralph Wilson and Sen. Charles Schumer to discuss the franchise's long-term viability.

Lynch, who angered prosecutors over what they said was his lack of cooperation with their investigation into the hit-and-run, has not spoken to reporters since arriving at camp Thursday and declined comment following practice Monday.

Bills coach Dick Jauron expressed relief when learning of Goodell's decision.

"I'm aware of what he said and it certainly makes sense to me," Jauron said. "I certainly agree with him. We're relieved."

The Bills' starting running back and 2007 first-round draft pick lost his license after pleading guilty to a traffic violation last month.

As part of the plea agreement, Lynch admitted he was driving his 2008 Porsche Cayenne SUV when it sped off after striking a female pedestrian near Buffalo's downtown bar district on May 31.

The victim, a 27-year-old woman from suburban Toronto, was treated and released from hospital later that day after sustaining a bruised hip and cut to her thigh that required seven stitches.

As I understand it, "fastesttruck" was modded 10 levels for "farming posts and/or padding post count", ie: multiple instances of 3+ consecutive posts w/out quoting previous or editing into a single post.

It's cool, just minor news should go in the offseason thread. Minor injuries (such as Samuel) don't really create much talk, and everybody is sick of the Favre talk, so unless something concrete happens with him, he shouldn't get a new thread.

Okay. :) Sorry about the Favre topic. I didn't mean to create annoyance by posting it. :(

Saints, top pick Ellis, come to terms

The New Orleans Saints had a breakthrough Tuesday night in negotiations with first-round draft pick Sedrick Ellis that allowed them to reach agreement on a five-year deal (with $19.5 million guaranteed) that could max out at $49 million, a source close to the situation told ESPN.com. LINK

Stve Smith kicks Ken lucas's ass

SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Carolina Panthers receiver Steve Smith was sent home from training camp Friday after he punched teammate Ken Lucas during practice, causing the starting cornerback to be carted off the field holding an ice pack to his left eye.

Panthers coach John Fox said Smith and Lucas returned to Charlotte after the fight. The team didn't provide an update on the extent of Lucas' injuries and club officials declined to say if the volatile Smith, the team's top receiver, would be suspended.

"We're going to handle this matter internally," general manager Marty Hurney said.

Smith's agent, Derrick Fox, did not immediately return a phone call seeking comment.

The melee came after both players had taken off their helmets in a break for starters during a special teams drill. It was unclear what provoked the fight. While the two have routinely jawed at each other in practice since Lucas signed with Carolina in 2005, they've never come to blows in view of reporters.

"When that happens on the field usually guys have helmets on," quarterback Jake Delhomme said. "But this happened on the sidelines, so it probably wasn't a good idea."

When attention turned from the field to the fight, several players and Fox rushed to the scene. Fox tried to separate the two, but it took linebacker Jon Beason to pull Smith off Lucas.

Lucas walked to a tent, holding his head while accompanied by a trainer. Smith was then escorted there by receiver Muhsin Muhammad to talk to Lucas.

"Steve was probably a little remorseful for what happened," Muhammad said. "He was trying to apologize, so I was walking with him just to be there."

After being treated for several minutes, Lucas walked to a nearby cart and was taken to the locker room.

Smith spent several minutes talking to kicker John Kasay on an adjacent field before he was escorted to the locker room by Hurney as practice continued.

"Anytime something like that happens you're obviously disappointed," Fox said. "It's part of football and you deal with it."

The coach had an extended talk with the team after the workout. Delhomme said Fox warned the players not to retaliate against Smith.

"I don't anticipate this having any lingering effect on this team," Delhomme said. "We were talked to and things were squashed. That's it. That's the way it is. It happened. There will be no retaliation by anybody on anything. When you look at the schedule we don't play the Panthers this year. So we need to be smart when we're out there."

A three-time Pro Bowl pick, Smith has had trouble controlling his temper. He was suspended for a game in 2002 after punching teammate Anthony Bright during a film session. Smith received counseling for anger management, and a lawsuit filed by Bright was eventually settled out of court.

Despite a history of poorly timed penalties following angry outbursts, Smith signed a contract extension last year through the 2012 season that makes him one of the NFL's highest-paid receivers.

A possible suspension to Carolina's top playmaker cast a shadow over the team Friday afternoon.

"Obviously everybody is going to be waiting to see what the repercussions are from this event," Muhammad said. "I'm just praying that we rally together as a team, because obviously there's going to be some adversity here. The focus is not where it needs to be right now.

"I'm hoping we can all come together as a team, as a family, and are able to put this behind us."

Smith should attend some of Jack Nicholson's anger management classes, and beat up Monks instead of his own teammates.

lol @ raiders

Chris Mortensen of ESPN reports that Raiders receiver Javon Walker told the team on Thursday that he plans to retire. He also was prepared to return his $11 million signing bonus.

Per Mort, owner Al Davis persuaded Walker to stay with the team.

Walker reportedly has been frustrated with his performance during training camp. We previously heard that Davis regards Walker as the key to the team's fortunes in 2008.

His career has been bizarre, to say the least. After a few so-so seasons upon entering the league as a first-round pick of the Packers, he had a breakout year in 2004. And then he wanted to be paid like an elite wideout, threatened a holdout, caved under pressure from quarterback Brett Favre, tore an ACL in Week One of the 2005 season, was traded to the Broncos in April 2006, had a solid initial season in Denver, witnessed on the night after the finale the shooting death of Darrent Williams from sufficiently close range to have possibly been hit by the bullets, missed significant chunks of 2007 with ongoing knee problems, somehow landed a huge deal with the Raiders in the offseason, and then was abducted and beaten up after a weekend of champagne-spraying in Vegas.

Brett Favre is an ass!! He meddles in a teammate's desire to get paid (an unforgivable sin), and look at him now -- willing to take $20M to stay home. LMAO!

Old news. He's pretty f***ed up, but I hope for his own sake he gets his sh** together.
