Well seems like Conduit 2 may actually be a great game as it is one of the only recent games I heard of to support both online play and split screen multiplayer. Especially since most shooters today focus simply on online play and don't bother with split screen.

So here is a list of stuff I want to see in Conduit 2:

- Larger assortment of weapons

- Make the SCAR "not suck"

- Have more varied locals, enemies, gameplay

-Do more with the ASE than simply holding a button to open a door or hack a computer

-Make the online Lobby system that is easy to use, such as the Left 4 Dead online lobby

-Make it cinematic, I want at least a couple of memorable moments to make me want to play the game again. Like the nuke in COD 4.

What do you want to see in Conduit 2. What do you think it needs to stand out not only on Wii but on all platforms?

In all honesty, HVS made the first game sound better than it was, so my assumption so far is that they're doing the same with the sequel, at least until we see more than a couple screens and read some hands-ons.

For Conduit 2 to stand out on the Wii, it doesn't need to be much. Any coherent package will stand out on the Wii at this point. Even the first game stood out, and it was blah.

For it to stand out as an FPS as a whole, though, it needs the same thing as every other FPS - a significant gameplay aspect that differentiates itself from everything else. The ASE was supposed to be that one thing in the first one, but that turned out to be just an item on a checklist ("gameplay aspect that no one else has.... check!") rather than a fundamental, game-changing part of the gameplay.

So I think your "do more with the ASE" point is the ONLY thing that matters in the end for Conduit 2 to really set itself apart. Improving the existing aspects of the first game won't be enough to raise it above the mediocre level in terms of the genre as a whole, so that means that doing more with the ASE isn't just putting more hidden messages on the walls, but rather adding some significant, gameplay-impacting features to it. Or they could ditch the ASE idea and come up with something else, but it NEEDS something.

From what I've read, they're addressing a lot of the problems I've had with the first game (lack of splitscreen, too much corridor crawling, no secondary fire, etc.). I'll have to see it to believe it, but I actually really like the first game in contrary to most, and they already have the engine and controls nailed, so they'll have more time to work on the game itself.

I still think they need to do more than inprove the use of the ASE, or otherwise replacing it with something else.

Some modern shooters have co-op modes, which I think would be a grand addition to the Conduit 2's online features.

I think the mian problem with the conduit IMO, is that it's design has simply not aged well. It's a lot like Unreal tournament for the wii, but games like unreal tournament have not aged well. The whole run around shooting each other like super soakers, takes 10 bullets to kill someone, red vs blue, style of game is just old.

Well to be honest they had nowhere to go but up. They would have to make a real effort to go out of their way to suck on purpose to make a game more dreadfully bland and mediocre than the first one.

I'm still baffled by how people can have hopes for a HVS game. Their only decent game, IMO, is Gyrostarr.

High Voltage Software makes mediocre games and the Conduit has one of the most generic premises for a first person shooter ever. I don't look forward to it.

Eh, I put over 300 hours into the Conduit. And it was a bad game. It was my first ever FPS, and I only had a Wii. So, I liked it. That is, until I played another FPS and realized that it wasn't all that great. I don't have high hopes for the sequel.

I say go smaller but more realized. Trying too many things mediocorely will hurt them. I think a solid (not amazing but just good) campaign and a refined mp with no stupid spawn glitch and less generic "red vs blue" gameplay would be a start.

From what I think so far they are improving on the problems in the first one. They doubled the amount of weapons and I think there are 27, there are large boss battles, now with better story telling and they are going to make the game much less hackable.

its easy for the conduit to improve and all the problems are fixable. The Conduit 2 has seen some huge improvements so I'm exited for it. The Conduit was a good game, but there were no local modes and not many reason for me to back to single player, and the online was soon hack infested, it was fun at first, but hackers ruined it.

Conduit 1 seemed repetitive to me and I really disliked the lack of local multiplayer (splitscreen) and also lacks of cinematics was something that It missed. The controls and online were pretty good, they just need to add a couple of things (cooperative among others) and they're ready to launch a new wii game

i never had the original so idk... for multiplayer:

the ability to choose a gun of your liking and use it in every match.

hopefully the hit detection accuracy is good like reflex. WaW is a bit um different.

ability to choose your character.

smooth online play (no server time outs) with no lag like reflex.

co-op online,

Looks like half and half.

Half the people here think that there is a chance of greatness with an equal chance of suckage, while the other half thinks that it will suck no matter what.

HVS can fix the problems from the first game, they just need to listen to the critics who did a good job pointing out what they did good and what they did bad.

Controls are perfect IMO, and the visuals fine, it was the fact that It felt like I was playing an old game that bothered me.

I am hoping for the best, but I am ready to accept the worst.

Oh come one, thats the best style of FPS. Just tweek with the level design, not to many corridors, and it will be just fine.

However back on topic. Like the poster above, Conduit 2 has the potential, just not the dev.

For a developer that opened up so many possibilities for FPS controls on the Wii, they seem to be clueless in every other aspect of their game.

It's cool that they made a Wii game look like a 360 game graphically, but what was the point if the game was going to play like a run of the mill FPS from 10 years ago?

I say they completely throw out the first game's storyline and revamp the hell out of everything. So you want to do the aliens vs humans for the 100 millionth time in history? Why don't you add time travel, robots, mind controlled animals(from the aliens technology), zombies and resurrected evil masterminds from human history to the mix? Why does every battlefield have to be a building corridor or run downed streets? Sun dry sandy plains, hailing tundras, flooded terrain, underwater, pitch black eerie levels, and outer space are all common level designs in the video game industry, but when pulled off correctly it can really make a game stick out beautifully.

Ask for how the multiplayer plays: They really need to make grenades less spammy.. Or have them spawn very slowly. They need to include a sniper in the next game and make it a 1shot kill to the head and 90% 1shot kill to the torso. The limbs would require two shots to kill. I loved how they went with a HP bar for the first game i absolutely loathe regenerating health, and hope they stick to the HP bar again for the second game. If they can make more sprayers and make the game a rambofest i would approve greatly. Camping doesn't belong in a FPS, and the only way it can truly be absent is if the game is played close range spray n pray stlye.

Of course a lot of this is just a pipe dream because HVS would probably laugh at the idea of going over the top in video games. Oh how the industry has changed..

Sounds good, except your last point. I hate sitting through cut scenes, especially when I've already seen it before. Games that rely on cinematics have poor replay value, and to be honest, I didn't care for the single player in MWR at all.

Just give me online that's not a hack fest and a good story presentation in single player. Give me that and I'm hooked. Visuals are already good for a Wii game don't really expect much better (60 frames would be nice though, considering they are not working on the engine and making the game at the same time this time around).

The graphical tech was definitely there, but not the graphical art. We'll need to see more of Conduit 2 to see if the art direction has improved. However I wasn't too concerned with the art direction, but rather gameplay and story. The controls were solid to begin with, and motion plus will add another level to it. Boss battles, the use of turrets, and melee weapons should help to improve gameplay.

HVS admitted that they spent to much time trying to 'hide' the story presentation, to cater to gamers who don't care much for story or cinematics. Howvever, it is very true. There are waaaaay more gamers out there who just want to play the game than follow a story--that's why game with online multiplayer are in high demand--especially FPS. I mean I see my friends or younger relatives press the skip button before letting a scene finish. I'm not saying that every gamer is like that (I certainly like a good story presentation), but there are alot out there who don't care for story and HVS thought they were doing us a favor by making the story secondary...if not optional. However, HVS, said they will improve the presentation of the story in Conduit 2 and realized their mistake on that front. Nonetheless, I really can't fault them for that, since I see first hand how alot of gamers react to story.

In my opinion the art direction is a problem that can easily be solved with someone creative. Which HVS obviously lacks judging by the boxart.

I don't mind a story in a game as long as it doesn't interfere with gameplay. As long as the cut scenes aren't excessive in length or number, and are skipable on at least the second playthrough, I'm fine with them. The cut scenes are one reason I didn't make it very far in Batallion Wars 2 (they were so long, corny, and unskipable).

I'm already concerned with the rail shooter levels in Conduit 2, but I'll wait and see before I condemn them for adding that.

Right.. The graphics were nothing to hail about... I was just saying thats probably the only thing along with controls the first one had going for it.

There's rail shooter levels?? :? Where did you hear that?

Please tell me you're joking.

Co-op, it's not unheard of. Halo did it fine.

There is at least one rail level where you're in a space ship shooting at other space ships (confirmed by HVS, but I'm not going to bother finding where I read it).

No thanks. I'd rather have solid gameplay that encourages me to play the levels over and over agains instead of having to sit through some boring game story over and over again whenever I want to co-op.

What does that have to do with co-op? That's some flawed logic there. You can have both, but I doubt Conduit 2 will have any of that.
