This is preatty old news...

We'll see what happends...

I wouldn't really trust that site anyway since they even don't seem to know the difference between 1 Gigabyte (1024MB) and 1 Gigabit (128MB).

you can't have multiple cartridge games without using a memory card. that's why ff7 didn't come out on n64. square didn't want people yo have to spend like $80 for multiple cartridges and requiring a memory card that was barely used for any other games.

I dont have a problem with it but it was a problem going dual cart on N64 to the point they had to fit it all on one cart so I doubt they go dual cart now.

Regardless of whether or no this is true, suppose that it is. Is there any way to transmit data between the cartridges other than by using codes of some sort? The DS isn't entirely like the N64, is there any way the game could put some sort of data onto the DS itself? Alternatively, is there any way they could make the DS not error if one was to switch game carts while it is on? To me, the latter seems the best solution as the necessary clear data could stay in the RAM and then put into the second cartridge; I just don't know if the DS hardware would allow that kind of thing or not and whether anyone else here would know.

Flash memory technology has grown leaps and bounds for modern games to bother even requiring multiple flash cartridges. In any case, the largest available mainstream market flash memory unit on the market today is sized up to 8GB (Gigabyte, not gigabit), which is built into the iPod Nano 2nd Gen (8GB model). I see no need for developers to use two cartridges for a single game unless Nintendo hasn't purchased the technology yet.

It's not even possible to have two carts. The memory wouldn't be able to transfer between the carts because the DS has no hard drive and no memory cards. The entire concept of the cartridge is that the games are not only played on the cart but also saved on the cart. The only way I can think of transfers game data is using two DSs which would take a long time and would frustrate those who don't have access to two DSs. The picture is fake, fake, FAKE.

For those of you who are still in doubt that the picture is a fake or are desperately holding on to the idea that 2 cartridges would be cool, lets think about one thing...how the hell are you supposed to change the cartridges to continue the game??? Think for a minute about every last Nintendo cartridge-based system. What happened if you pulled out or put in a cartridge with the power on. You ran the risk of ruining not only the saved data, but the game itself. The only reason it works on a cd based system is because it has a virtual memory that it stores information in and stops reading from the disc so yo can change it. Sure the DS has an internal memory, but that gets wiped as soon as you turn off the power, which you would have to do to change out the cartridge. Therefore, any character data or collected items data would be lost as soon as you turn off the system to put a new cartridge in. I've been thinking about this though, and here's my solution...

With Castlevania: Dawn Of Sorrow, you can start a new game with the Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow cartridge in the GBA slot, and it will unlock a bonus item. The same is true with Mega Man ZX and Megaman Zero 1-4. Why not put that GBA slot to more use and make it a slot for a memory card style cartridge so you can save your mid-game data, turn off the system, and swap cartridges.

I was thinking excatly the same thing!!! a sort of memory card in the GBA slot that allow you to save the game and insert the other cartridge... and knowing nintendo (accesories and games that can't play with thosse accesories, for example castlevania for N64 and cristal chronicles for GC) it could be possible

This isn't going to happen people.  For one, the DS would either have to have an internal hard drive or a memory card for this to work (otherwise how in the hell would you be able to transfer your save file to the next card).  Also if you are thinking they would make it to where you would pull the card from the DS and switch while the system is still on to keep your file then you are mistaken because the DS has a built in failsafe that when a card is removed from the DS while the system is still running it automatically shuts off.  If the game is too big for the currently used cards the only thing that Square-Enix is going to do is mass-purchase larger SD cards to put the game on.  It would be cheaper that way than buying twice as many of the smaller cards as your method would have them anyway.

If the codes are going to be as long as it took for a complete transfer in GS, then I would be spending more time trying to get my saved data across than fighting the next metal slime I've been itching to get.

I be damned...I sure as hell did!

I think it's time everyone quit the wild speculation and just be excited that the game will be coming out on the DS to begin with. Save some of the mystery for when the game actually arrives. I know there are going to be tons of fans that are going to be disappointed when the game is not two cartridges, but that's their own fault for getting their own hopes up in anticipation of some outstanding new technology and they'll start posting  things like "what happened to the two cartridge version?" and "they should have made it longer and on two cartridges" and "what a rip-off"....all because they didn't pay attention.

Won't take much to top Zelda if it they continue to claim all-touch screen-control. I don't know about everyone else, but I'm getting sick of using the stylus to walk around environments in adventure games. Just because it's got a touch screen, it doesn't mean you have to use it for everything. Metroid Hunters was a good hybrid with the thumb pad movement and stylus targeting. But using the stylus to move around in Mario 64DS or Chocobo Tales got irrritating, so I switched. I'm not liking how the control scheme sounds for Zelda. But we'll save that for a different forum. Let's keep the gimmics out of the gameplay and just have a great title all around.

I'm with you man, the touch screen for movement is really irritating me. Let's just hope the game offers arrow key movement aswell as the touch screen. Yeah, I think they should keep the touch screen for, well mini-games, FPS shooters, and, umm anything thats not moving/controling your character in RPG/Adventure games. Anyway, on better notes, Dragon Quest looks, simply put - Amazing.

you can use the thumb pad in chocobo and FFIII instead the stylus (I din't play mario 64 and honestly it is not in my list)... I don't have any problem while you can choice how use your ds... like in ultimate spiderman that you can choice to control venom with or without the stylus, isn't the case of spiderman 3 that you to hit, web, avoid etc, you only use the stylus... frankly it make me upset!!!
