Nintendo wii has WAY more M rated games this time around, i mean compared to the GC, Wii has tons of M games, and more are still coming out, you dont even have to be patient and wait, lots are already here just take a look at best buy buddy.

I really think people should stop using the, "wii doesn't have to have blood and gore games to be mature" excuse, i mean of course this statement is true, but its not even the case, there are plenty of M and T games already, and the wii is only a year and a bit old. The wii has the games, you just have to actually get out there and use your eyes. Here's your proof!

Manhunt2, RE4, Splinter Cell, No More Heroes, CSI: Hard Evidence, Mortal Combat:Armageddon, The Godfather, Scareface, FarCry(no matter how bad it is, you said mature so if thats what you want then this game qualifies, no so sure now are you, eh?), Brothers in Arms:road to hill 30, Disaster :day of crisis, Alone in the dark, RE:UC, and MOH:H, etc.

Not all of these are out yet, but trust me this is about 10 more Mature rated games than the GC had in its whole lifetime. So quit your complaining, they are trying, and this is only stuff anounced for this year, so with about 5 more years of wii life left you will have plenty of Mature titles to choose from, Plus! i didn't even add Teen games, these are all Mature, if you aren't satisfied, then go and play your Xbox or PS3.

parksits
MOH:H2 is rated Tenn :| lol but yeah oh welllooks like TC'sgonna miss out

I wouldnt call them "kid games" because i love Mario Galaxy and Lelda. But i am fed up with these "point and click" kinda games. I understand at 1st they wanted to show off what the Wii was could do, but a year later they are still coming out with lame point and click games. And party games...uggghhhh lol. Too many!! But i would like to see more adventure games, or more shooters, but with No More Heroes around the corner, hopefully that game will fill my needs for a little while! :)

[QUOTE="Hutch_182"]I want more mature games like Resident Evil 4 and Manhunt 2....is there any hope for me and us other older more mature Wii ownerselemental_drago

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I don't see the words "blood", "gore", "violence", or "sex, drugs, and rock and roll" there. Maybe they're asking for games that simply feel as though they were designed with a more mature crowd in my mind.

The thing is that as an example of a "mature" game, he gives manhunt 2 (Resident evil 4 rules!!!). Manhunt 2 isn't a mature game, the story is ridiculous and is only a pretext to let you slash people. This implies that for him a mature game is a gore game. That a game to be mature has to be bloody. Well I'm a gamer from the old generation, I grew up with the NES and SNES and maybe this is why I have another point of view than Hutch 182, but to me what makes a game mature is its story, for instance FF VI is more mature than manhunt, yet fou don't see any blood.

[QUOTE="Taggsai"]No. Buy a 360. fraz1776

We shouldn't have to buy other consoles to get more mature games, Nintendo promised that the Wii would be for everyone and that it would have more mature games, so far there are only a few. Nintendo should take matters into their own hands and show people they mean business and make a mature game themselves, they must be tired getting typecast as "kiddy game" makers.

Damn Right

amen to that man.

lemme give you a quick rundown on how i feel about that...I've been playing on nintendo consoles ever since i was a little ass kid. i've always loved nintendo not only because they put out innovative, high quality consoles; but also because they've always had a great array of games. ranging from kid games to the more mature games that i've loved to play sincei was about 14. i've bought the last three nintendo systems with my money (N64, GC, Wii) that i earned myself. but it seems like, the better the system nintendo put out, the cockier they seeemed to become. and now its the worst. they think that just because they have a revolutionary new system that they'll dominate the console war. and yes, it's true, they currently are dominating. but if they keep releasing these cheaply made, bad interfaced disposable mini-game collections, they will fall behind and possibly go the way of sega if it goes on long enough. (pray that doesn't happen ever, ever.) Xbox and PS3 as much as i hate to say it, have really great systems power-wise. the wii..not so much. thats just common knowledge. but it seems like becase of that fact, nobody is even trying to put out wii games with half-decent graphics. (save for resident evil 4 and a handful of other ported re-hashes.) the PS3 and 360 also have great 3rd party support. nintendo seems to like to do things itself and instead of porting multi-console games to the wii, make another mario hoops or sonic riders sequel (because withall of the positive feedback we gave them for those great games, how could they not make a billion sequels?) this is what i think. all of us nintendo loyalists do somewhat of a service to nintendo. without us, nobody would buy their damn systems. but now that we already own they're systems, they seem to think its more important to make games for the rest of our family instead of making games for us hardcore gamers. witch kinda shows how nintendo treats their veteran gamers. in my opinion, they OWE us games. i don't want to see anymore games for my two year old nephew. wheres the games for me nintendo? where are my bloody shoot-em ups? and no more FPS games. first person shooters are a dime a dozen and i'm sick of 'em. so thats my word. i'm gonna forward a buncha copies to nintendo and see if they even give a rats ass. with the way they treat feedback, i seriously doubt they will.

and if you sat through all my pompus ass complaints, you rock

Plus not to be mean but you only care about yourself. That is what your post says after all. Nintendo dosen't have to make more mature games. They're just trying to get a positive feedback from parent's. Microsft kept getting emails from parents asking them to make less mature games. And make some more for the kids. Nintendo knows that'll happen to them so they seriously cut down on the mature gaming plus look at yourself, you're actually wanting more simulated murder, realistic sex, and more drug use. I really am worried about you. Because I'm wise enough to know that those games only support the negative, not the positive. My Tae-Kwon-Do master says that darkness leads to destruction, and pain. While Light brings happiness and virtue. I know what they do to your brain. Trust me. That is the exact reason why I never play them and swore to never do so. Heck even my entire family says the same thing about it. Even my preacher! Sorry I got religious here but this is the exact reason why I'm against it.

AND I'M PROUD OF IT! :D

What is your definition of "hardcore" because that term is being so mixed up for a while now and it is hard to know what a "hardcore gamer" is anymore.

Well, one could make the argument that those were simply the first two games that struck him/her, off the top of their head, as aimed at a mature crowd (once again, versus Mario, which seems aimed at a wider demographic). I would've let it go, personally, but some people read that, put words into their mouth (post), and than continued on to use that as a jumping grounds to fling unnecessary insults. It just bothers me to see that.

That said, I agree that story makes the game mature (more so than blood and cursing. Look at Kane and Lynch. Played a bit, and the abundant use of f-bombs was childish, imho. However, I too got my start in the days of the original Zelda and the likes of Wing Commander). I'd like to add that subject matter adds to it too. Madden, for example, strikes me as more mature than Strikers, although fun can be found in both. I'd like to see more of a mix of the fantasy and the realistic in that respect. I don't think I'm alone in that respect, either. That's all I was trying to say, at least.

I agree with the comments that it's the 3rd parties to blame for the lack of Mature games on the Wii. But really who cares??? I've been gaming since the original NES and you expect nintendo to produce and endorse the more family orientated games or at least family friendly games.

Want to play GTA or Manhunt..... buy a PS3. The Wii is great for what it is, an interactive video game experience. The PS3 or 360 fills the other end of the spectrum for the more hardcore gamers who want next gen graphics and the more traditional gaming experience.

Furthermore, the "kid" games are great.

Zelda, SSB's, Mario, Zack and Wiki, etc...... i'd like to see Microsoft come up with any great franchises that appeal to both kids and adults like any of these series and much much more........

I never understood people why people think that mature = violence and gore. Manhunt 2 isn't a mature game, it's a bad game with a dull storyline. The gore elements (sorry "mature") are only there for commercial reasons, it's not a game only a dull gore fest so that kids think they're mature cause they play a game where you chop heads off, and the worst it's they think it's cool.

vivi2000

most of us dont think mature=blood and gore.

most of us want mature storylines and not the storys a grade school kid would think is "MATURE" with one of the lead villains farting to make an exit (SUPER PAPER MARIO), or a pop up storybook bedtime story (SUPER MARIO GALAXY) or a story that tries to hard to be dark and haunting that it detracts from the story and just makes it completely boring and feels strained (ZELDA)

the three games i mentioned have great gameplay, but i felt awkward playing them with storys geared toward little kids.

I hope what i have been hearing is true about square warming up to nintendo. At least then some real mature storytelling would come to light.

i dont see why everyone is telling you ' no i dont htink this is true, no no no, you dont need gore to have fun' . Its just this guys opinion sheesh. I agree with you mate, and yea, the wii has been released for a lil bit over a year, so has the ps3. And look at the games that the ps3 has. Wow, so many sweet games!! Even though most are also out for the xbox360. Resident evil 4 was also ported to the wii. Basically godfather and scarface as well. FF:CC is a joke if you have played the other FF games. Like comeon, FFCC compare that with FFX. The 3rd party and first party devs need to step it up man. Like wtf is de blob, wow. I dont see how people can have fun with that.

If you don't like Nintendo's 'kiddy' games don't buy them. If you bought a Wii expecting it to have a ton of games full of graphic violence, sex, drugs, profanity, you made a mistake.

I don't know for you but I have a wii and a ps3 and my playstation is just getting dust. Assassin's creed was fun for about two weeks just the time to end it and walk around the cities ( which look awesome but becomes quick boring). The only game I play more regumarly with my girlfriend and friends is singstar. Yeah, until now my ps 3 has been an 600€ karaoke box. When I play with the playstation I do it alone, with the wii everybody wants to play with it, even my mom when she comes visiting likes to play a little bit with it and she is over 50. For the moment I had more fun with the wii than with the ps3. However I agree that games like resident evil5, Silent Hill 5 or FF are good reasons for getting a ps3 , cause they will never get ported on the wii. But really how many great games are there on the ps3 right now,(cause these 3 are coming out much later)? The wii has at the moment better games even if they don't look as nice ass Assassin's creed for instance.

I totally agree with the person that created this thread. I mean, why does the Wii have 2 get all games that have kids as their main audience?! I can be considered a kid, since im only 13 years old, but the only games thatinterest me are the "mature" ones (action-adventures,shooters...). Heck, i didn't even like Mario Galaxy...i enjoyed RE4 soooo much more! Wii has the potential 2 be the best shooting platform, with it's amazingly inovative control scheme...

Just because Nintendo didn't slap on an M or AO onto a game doesnt mean that it is kiddy.

MP3
Heroes
RE4

And if you actually look around, theres more.

Third party companies are the ones that release the most "mature games". If you want Nintendo to release them, then are you suggesting them to make a new franchise?

Kid games? I think that statements like that are ridiculous and immature.

"I want teh action and teh violence!!!!!111!"

MayorJohnny

Kid games?!? r u serious? Nintendo makes GAMES for EVERYONE. Mario Galaxy is a kid game? sure. Mario Galaxy is an adult game? Hell yeah! I never want Nintendo 2 stop wat they r doing all the vibrant colors all the funny characters. Mario Galaxy is one of the greatest games ever, but childish, no. And BTW, I swear i have seen this post a million times over!!! If i see another one i will freak out! If u want mature get a 360!

[QUOTE="Hutch_182"]I think i'll keep my Wii but get a 360 also but i want to keep my wii for SSBB and Mario Kart...but i want more Resident Evil games and more Final Fantasy games...I think the Wii needs to step it up a notch so us older players will stay satasfiedTaggsai

Why keep it? Honestly I've been thinking about selling my Wii and getting a 360 lately. Maybe I've just been playing too much 360 at my friends house, but it's grown on me now more than it ever did before.

I'm about there now, but I don't want to sell my Wii because I worked hard for that.

well of course SMG is a mature game :P , you know with all the mature star collecting, and the scary volcanoes, and that scary monster thst looks like a teddy bear, and those other scary monsters that look like some kind of fluffy tropical fruite, and mushrooms... they scared the crap out of me.

no seriously, there should be age restriction on threads that discuss mature gaming.

You know yall didn't have to buy a wii. If it doesen't have alot of mature games. So you guys wasted your own money and the entire thing was your fault for not looking at what games it had before buying it.

I've had the wii ever since it came out. I don't own another system. I've stuck with Nintendo for a loooooooong time. I've had the SNES, N64 and the gamecube. All nintendo. I think that some of the games are great so far. I just want for some of the other franchises to appear on the wii as well. I want the Silent Hill series, the Final Fantasy series, Virtua Figther series and more. Some of the third party developers are bringing more casual type games to the wii than the ps3 or 360. I don't want to buy another system to play these types of games. For example, capcom gave the wii, zack and wiki, where they gave the ps3 and 360, lost planet. Don't get me wrong, I like zack and wiki and its a great game, but i want to play a game like lost planet too.:D

I'm not going to make the maturity argument like the dozens of others who made a good point, but i will recommend one game that the TC will consider very "Mature" The Godfather: blackhand edition. not only does it have shooting and blood etc. but also carbombs, mob wars, and finishing moves for different weapons such as lighting people on fire and kicking people to the ground then shooting them in the face with a shotgun. It should tide over any bloodthirsty pre-teen until at least no more heroes or another mature title is announced.

amen to that man.

lemme give you a quick rundown on how i feel about that...I've been playing on nintendo consoles ever since i was a little ass kid. i've always loved nintendo not only because they put out innovative, high quality consoles; but also because they've always had a great array of games. ranging from kid games to the more mature games that i've loved to play sincei was about 14. i've bought the last three nintendo systems with my money (N64, GC, Wii) that i earned myself. but it seems like, the better the system nintendo put out, the cockier they seeemed to become. and now its the worst. they think that just because they have a revolutionary new system that they'll dominate the console war. and yes, it's true, they currently are dominating. but if they keep releasing these cheaply made, bad interfaced disposable mini-game collections, they will fall behind and possibly go the way of sega if it goes on long enough. (pray that doesn't happen ever, ever.) Xbox and PS3 as much as i hate to say it, have really great systems power-wise. the wii..not so much. thats just common knowledge. but it seems like becase of that fact, nobody is even trying to put out wii games with half-decent graphics. (save for resident evil 4 and a handful of other ported re-hashes.) the PS3 and 360 also have great 3rd party support. nintendo seems to like to do things itself and instead of porting multi-console games to the wii, make another mario hoops or sonic riders sequel (because withall of the positive feedback we gave them for those great games, how could they not make a billion sequels?) this is what i think. all of us nintendo loyalists do somewhat of a service to nintendo. without us, nobody would buy their damn systems. but now that we already own they're systems, they seem to think its more important to make games for the rest of our family instead of making games for us hardcore gamers. witch kinda shows how nintendo treats their veteran gamers. in my opinion, they OWE us games. i don't want to see anymore games for my two year old nephew. wheres the games for me nintendo? where are my bloody shoot-em ups? and no more FPS games. first person shooters are a dime a dozen and i'm sick of 'em. so thats my word. i'm gonna forward a buncha copies to nintendo and see if they even give a rats ass. with the way they treat feedback, i seriously doubt they will.

and if you sat through all my pompus ass complaints, you rock

peace

wikkedclown17

I'm just gonna argue a bit against your complaint towards nintendo making games for your family members. personnaly, i think thats messed up that your against it and a bit selfish. why shouldnt everyone else in your family play videogames? why shouldnt they too have a favoite videogame? what was your first video game? the one that made you say "damn! videogames iz funz!"? i'm sure it wasnt something super gory/violent/depraved (which are characteristics that make some people think that a game is mature). let them have a chance too. i say the more people that like video games, the better. that way, video games arent stereotyped as mindless bloodbaths (which is what TC obviously wants them to be)

Don't get me wrong, I too believe that the Wii is a bit too kiddy friendly for its own good, but it's not that, I enjoyed SMG.

I believe that our true common enimy is not that there are too many kiddy games but that there are too many lousy ports and half-a$$ed minigames such as "ninja-bread" man, "Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games", "Carnival Games" and the ultimate piece of $hit "Chicken Shoot", just to name a few.

Like some other guy posted, the 3rd party comanies are too afraid to invest into Nintendo's new controll scheme and kinda weak graphics engine.

Nintendo must take more 3rd party companies under their wings, like Microsoft did with Bungie, and not rely on the reawakening of the lifeless zombie that is Mario, Link or Sonic, I am personally fed up with that red, white and blue wearing italian.

I love how half the idiots who posted on this forum are all dissing Microsoft games like Nintendo has made something epic for the wii. Just shut up and ask yourself where is Nintendo's billion dollar franchise. Oh wait they don't have one. Deep down inside all the wii fanboys want HALO, but will never get it.You guys need to go back to your corners and count your stars. There are like two legit games that got a 9 or above on gamespot for the wii and the it's the Wii's first year excuse doesn't count anymore. Nintendo's primary target is kids. Get over it. You want mature games then get a 360. If you want RPGs then get a ps3 and wait for them to come out or get a 360.

Billion dollar franchise? That's about how much money Microsoft lost on their 360 warranty extension. Microsoft's games division has never made a profit. They're all excited because they thought they would lose $400million last year, and they only lost $300million.

yes putting out games for the rest of the family is great and all but why can't they put out more games for us games that like to shoot a person and blood come out not pixies spreading fairdust....it's like nintendo thinks that just because they have a list of mature games means that people arent going to buy their system...its ridiculous.

I don't think people always mean blood and violence when they talk about the difference between kid and adult games. There are two things that I think of. First, most Wii games seem to lack any intellectual maturity, let alone whether or not there is any blood. Second, even though Wii games may seem to have a childish veneer, they often have some deeply challenging gameplay that most kids could not handle. I just want to see more options, thats all.

When I want intellectual maturity I read a book, I don't play a videogame.
