There's a Wiimote next to "How to Play"!

And also it only features 1-4 players.

1-4 players doesn't mean it isn't online. Were you expecting 16 player online matches?

@Blessing - Smash is most definitley NOT a "Button Masher". Melee was one of the most, if not THE most technical fighters ever created. It only seems simple until you really get into it :P. Games like Soul Calibur to me, are MUCH more 'Mash friendly.

Wintry. Cmon. If it does I doubt it would use it in the main game. As in the main vs mode and 1p adventure. Probably in a special smash mode.

I'm quite happy with that...I want it to use the Wiimote, i can already imagine one or two ways of it working really well...

Imagine shaking the wiimote or nunchuck to perform links spin attack just as it is in Zelda:TP...That'll be so easy to perfom in the air and other places..i personally like the way the wii controller feels in the hands to GC..

wait this doesnt confirm anything. It doesnt show that u have to use the controller just a picture of the remote. I bet its like that for most other games as well. No where does it say you have to use the wiimote.

Presumeably, you can control kirby in a kirby game, mario in a mario game, link in a zelda game using the wiimote. If you can't, nintendo royally screwed up with the design. So, why not all together in the same game?

Besides, you can map basically all of ssb:m's functions to the wii controller's buttons and analog stick(except rotating the camera...useless anyways). If you ever played ssb:m, you would know that every move has about two ways of doing it. It uses about half of the gamecube controller. Even with this redundancy, some buttons have no function at all. The wiimote has more than half of the gamecube controller in the traditional button and analog stick arena. In addition, the wiimote could add in precise aiming for ranged attacks using the pointing function.

I'm saying the most important credentials aren't how much he knows about the specifics of Smash Bros. Brawl. It's a Wii game, it's a Wii controller. This is even less of a confirmation than that GCN Controller comment from Sakurai months back. If you think this is concrete, what about Sony and their repeated uses of Project Gotham Racing 3 in Gran Turismo ads? If that massive of a blunder--twice--is possible, I'm not ready to take something as minimal as the use of a Wiimote in a menu for a Wii game as confirmation of a control scheme.

are people here really debating whether or not theyll be using the wii remote?

of course they will!... theyre not gonna release a new system and then make people use old controllers on their new games. You dont think they considered whether they could make games like this work on the wiimote?

They would have simply added more buttons if they didnt think they could manage.

Button 1 will be melee.. button 2 with ill be special.. perhaps the b button will be block or something... and maybe use some waggle features for throws and such.

who knows how it will work... but rest assured.. it WILL work on the wiimote.

you guys have no imagination at all...saying that if SSBB uses the Wii mote you're not going to play....why the hell did you buy a Wii then if you didn't plan on using the Wii controller for it's games....the game is going to be designed for the Wii and it's going to be designed for the Wii controller...that's just how it is...now what I can see them doing is somehting like they did with DBZ: BT2 where you can use the GC controller, the Wii mote or the Classic controller

Wintry_Flutist

that´s the worst proof i have ever seen first of all they have to use a wiimote icon because it is a wii game, but it doesn´t mean it will use the wiimote.

What if it only features 1-4 players, there are lots of 1 player games that can be played online! ever heard of all the real time strategy gemes? they´re 1 player only but they can be played online. there are lots of game that say "1-4 players" but they are online.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! just SHHHHhHhHhhhhhhhhhhHHHHHHHHHHh and wait until more information is revealed

The hint "you don´t want to throw out your gc controllers just yet" was ... hinted before the wii was release, that´s why many people don´t want the wiimote because they were told that the gc controllers will have some functionality with brawl, and that may have been the reason why they bought a wii for SSBB.

Wii game = Wiimote    simple as that

using the wii remote doesnt mean full motion sensor, the motion sensor will probably only be used for the menu and character selection screens, and then you will flip if on its side, and use it as a controller.

....And? Is it important that it has a Wii-mote icon? Mortal Kombat: Armageddeon is a game that uses the Wiimote, GCN, and Classic Controller. Did it cross your mind at all that Brawl could do the very same? Frankly, I'd be dissapointed if they didn't use the Wiimote at all. There's no problem with Wiimote controls, but since its a fighting game like BT2 and MKA, I don't see why they wouldn't give you options. Also, the 1-4 player thing makes sense. If you're using that as something against online, consider its a fighting game. DOA4 only has 2 players onscreen at once online. I'd say 4 is plenty, seeing as its done this well for, what, 7 or 8 years?

Ouch, oh God, I think my brain just started bleeding.  I'm assuming you aren't exactly a fighting game fan?  Smash Bros. Melee is so far down the list as far as being a technical fighter that it doesn't even register on most fighting gamers radar at all.  SSB is a party/brawler game.  Yes, it can be played competitively, but so can Madden, and that doesn't qualify it as a fighter either.  If you were posting on Shoryuken (SRK) you would have been banned for the utter absurdity of this post.

I heard in an article somewhere that SSBB will use the classic controller because if it has motion sensor controls it will lose the smash bros feeling. i'm not saying it's true but that is what it said.

Who the hell says it can't use both? It's completely ridiculous to make a game for a certain console and force people to buy controllers from another one in order to play. What about all the people who never had GameCubes, or don't want to pay for an extra set of Cube or even Classic controllers.

Umm...guys...you can play the game with the wii-mote and still NOT use motion control...with the analog stick attachment you have all the buttons you need.  And since its possible, why would you use a gamecube or classic controller? Not only is the wii remote more ergonomic, its pointer saves a lot of head aches on menu screens, not to mention access to the home and power buttons.

X and Y? oh yeah those jump....but the analog stick does that.

C stick? thats an easy way to do smash attacks in multiplayer, oh wait... the analog stick and A button do that...

The only controls you need are A, B, a trigger button, and an analog stick. The wiimote has all of these things, not to mention the it also still has a D-pad for the taunt. Oh, and you can even do the quick grab because the nunchaku has a Z-button.

Yay, thats...everything.

That's obviously fake.

1. He has the motive to fake it to get publicity for his blog.

2. He is a no-body, how does he get an exclusive interview?

3. He doesn't state is source.

4. He states obvious/assumable information.

5. He got a "no comment" on ****c N64 character intros. Why would that be secret? It's not, he just can't guess the truth.
