If there was one thing you could change about the Wii what would it be? I would probably change the classic controller. It is hard to get used to it even though it is the same as super nintendo.

i would change the grphics and the design of the wii, i mean who wants to see the wii console, it looks like a dvd player, just like the 360 that looks like a paper shreder. but i have a wii and its great so im not complaining.

I dont know about graffics... hell yes, the wii graffics would be awesome in 1080p, but  graphics still dont matter to me. Maybe more media content, like a bigger ahard drive, even like a 10 GB would be fine. And dvd playback. That would make wii more of a popular product than it already is.IMO....

The only thing I would change is the price.  I feel it should be at least $50 cheaper.

My list of equivalent specs that the Wii should've met:

CPU: Athlon 64 2800+
GPU: ATi X700 or X800
    ~250 Million polygons/sec
    ~4000 MegaPixels/sec
    ~4000 MegaTexels/sec
    ~720p HD capabilities
~8 MB eDRAM die a la Xbox 360 Xenos GPU
    ~128-bit direct memory bus a la 360
RAM: 256 MB
    ~Unified GDDR3
    ~1000 MHz effective speed
~Plenty of space for lots of data
Internal storage: 1 GB Flash ROM

More power and maybe more channel spaces.

If there will be demos, more memory space.

They want to do demos?  That would be cool, but demos could easily be 250 MB or bigger.......

I'm going to go with internal memory...or atleast the ability to use SD cards to store game data...I'm already getting close to max capacity because of the VC. The SD Card would make things a hell of a lot easier if it served a purpose

The controller... the Wiimote is, IMO, gimmicky and is more of a liability to the console than an asset. I think it's going to end up with too many lousy party games and remakes and not enough great, story-driven games. I really didn't like what they did with the Zelda controls... the bow and slingshot aiming was cool, but overall I'm still weighing getting the GC version and ditching the Wii version.

Other than that, it's not powerful enough... I feel like I'm still playing a Gamecube. In fact, the Wii games don't look as good as Gamecube games. I like Super Paper Mario well enough, but you've got to admit that Paper Mario 2 was a lot more attractive visually. And the Virtual Console's pricing structure is completely out-of-touch with the market. Yes, I suppose people are paying it but just because you CAN do something, that doesn't mean you SHOULD. And they'd get higher sales if their games were priced more reasonably. $10 is far too much for an N64 ROM.  But none of this would be an issue if we could get some new games on here. The third party support has been there, but it has been pitiful... and Nintendo's games are just the same ideas repeated over and over again.

I suppose I'd change a lot about the Wii, really. I don't like the controller, it would've benefitted from more power, VC is overpriced and the game selection is very poor. I feel as though this could've been much more, and that Nintendo is alienating their loyal fanbase to generate a larger, if different, one. And I don't think that's a wise business move, particularly since getting non-gamers to play games is tricky, but getting them to become gamers is next to impossible... and I don't think Nintendo can do it with this machine.

Flame away, but that's just my opinion... I'm supposed to be entitled to it, though I know the Wii boards operate a little differently.

You can have your oppinion, but if you don't like the controls, and you don't like the graphics, and you don't like the shop pricing, why did you buy it? The controller is the reason TO buy it... If I was to change it, make it more powerful, but not too powerful, because then it would have cost too much. Oh, and make Wii Sports online enabled. That would be good.

Nice post, and I agree with pretty much everything you say.  I work at a Gamestop, and everyday we get so many people looking for Wiis either in store or calling on the phone, and I think they are way into the idea of getting one because they don't realize exactly what it is, but just because everyone else is rushing to get it as well as being a "Nintendo" system.

Does the Wii as a whole have potential?  You bet it does.   Is the actual hardware inside worth $250?  No.  Is the current line up of rushed out crap worth the time to play?  Mostly not, except for a noteable few.  One can continue to have faith in Nintendo finally pulling through with great stuff (I'm expecting Metroid 3, Mario Galaxy, and Smash Bros to be awesome), but for me I've been so dissapointed with everything, and I use my Wii purely for playing Gamecube games at the moment, which not to mention some look better than anything on the Wii software line up, which is a complete joke.

Graphics upgrades would be nice, but keep in mind that these are still early games.  It's been discussed to death, so I won't say much, but the console has only been out for six months or so.  Graphics will improve.  As for what I would improve, DVD/CD playback, and support for external harddrives through the USB ports (though that may still come in the future).

i personally think yours is abit too extreme. my version would be:

1-1.5 GHz CPU

300-350 MHz GPU

128 MB RAM !1000 MHz

1 GB internal flash.

You can't measure a CPU's or GPU's capability by clock speed, not even approximate it either unless you're comparing to a certain processor.  The 128 MB of RAM would be too little for my specs, although I think it would've been really good for the current system, so plenty of memory would be available for large enviroments and dynamic loadings as well.

Personally I don't care too much about graphics. More about gameplay. That's why I love the motion sensitivity. My only problem is some of the buttons on the Wiimote are too far apart. Stupid thing but that's what I would change.

Well, firstly, I'd give it some more power. Not 360/PS3 power, because then we'd end up with something that weighs 10 pounds as well, but more nontheless. I'd remove the friend code online system, and I'd remove the speaker in the Wiimote. Maybe add one more button to the Wiimote, as well. And finally: I want a good FPS! The Wii is perfect for that type of game, but untill now they've all been pretty mediocre. I suppose that's more like 4 improvements, but that's my list.

i don't think you should put the FPS as a change, because good FPS titles are on the way.

A better online system - no friend codes! Remove the region restriction so I can play Super Paper Mario in the UK! I'm not too bothered about the graphics, as has been mentioned in this thread, it has been discussed/argued to death, but a bit more media storage would be nice. They announced that Guitar Hero III will include downloadable content for the wii. 512mb of storage will be filled up quite fast.

Make it 2-3 times more powerful than it is now, with 720p support. That's the only major gripe.

I really don't care about the graphics. I just want some good games, not ports or rehashes. I guess that's all I got.

Oh well, SMG, SSBB and No More Heroes will be incredible.

i completely agreee with this lyk, come on, before the wii gaming was all wires nd chunky controllers. Nintendo done well just to make this work, in a while there bound to come out with a better version lyk the wii 2 or summit which will have better memory, power nd everythin.

Im just glad we got a new console differnt than any other!!!

I wish the console was made of slightly sturdier, less cheap feeling materials. When I first got it it was all shiny and new, but it doesn't have the same finish that say, the DS Lite does to keep it from getting dull and stratched looking pretty fast. And that's just from schlepping it to my girlfriends house a couple of times. Aside from that, I don't really know what to say. Some more channels would be nice, but that's obviously going to happen, so it's not a change. I can't believe everyone already wants all the great games and channels and VC games and stuff to be out already. In 3 years when everyone's bored with their other consoles, we'll just be getting around to some awesome new stuff that they're doing with the Wii or a new franchise or something. I see this console lasting me a long, long time.

Coming fron the online of the 360, and going to Wii friend codes is not going to be a good transition.

I think online is the only thing I'd change.  I think online should've been ready at launch with WiiSports being online.  And, despite it being a rip-off of MS, I think there should be some sort of achievements system (especially for VC games).  Also, I think when you register Wii games/system you should receive either download points or if it's a sequel to a game you should simply get a free download of a prior game in the series.  For example, if you buy Super Mario Galaxy (when it's released, obviously), you should get a free download of one of the Super Mario games.

either better graphics or maybe syncronizing-it can be annoying sometimes
