The "substance" I am refering to is that there apears to be many ways to kill your opponents, so you don't watch the same execution over and over again in the same level. Substance also refers to many and varied levels, although I am still unsure of how many levels there are.snover2009
I dunno man, I tend to kill all my opponents in the same way with the same weapon in RE4 and the deaths pretty much always look the same. The levels aren't all that varied. I really don't buy the whole argument that levels need to have different environments in order to be good, if that's what you were referring to. Varied gameplay, not varied levels.

Nah, the fact that we play it shows that they aren't just for children. clicketyclick
I didn't say they're just for children. What I meant was that Mature games are just as childish as non-violent games. Playing one type of game over the other doesn't mean that you suddenly qualify as "adult".
Hmm... well I can't speak for him but what I think of when I say I prefer substance and mature titles and refer to games like RE4, NMH, and MW as examples is that these games have mature themes, humour that's darker or more uh, adult-like, and contains references and all kinds of layers and artistic styIings. I think WoG has this too, but I don't think Mario does. And GoW2 doesn't either. The characters in those games might as well be comatose blindfolded cats for how well they emote and show depth of character.clicketyclick
Ok, but games don't have to be rated "M" to appeal to a mature audience. A game like de Blob can appeal to anyone, adults included. But what he's saying is that he "desire[s] more mature games like this." Note the emphasis on "games like this", ie, games with violence and blood (because, let's be honest here, that's Madworld's big selling point to a lot of people). If he meant "mature games" in the sense that you're talking about, World of Goo would have appealed to him. And even after your suggestions to download a FREE demo, he still isn't interested. He has also mentioned NMH, Call of Duty, and RE4, all of which share one quality: an M rating. I don't think it's a stretch to say that he's talking about the mature themes in games when he says "substance".

EDIT: Oh, and I guess his latest statement kind of clears things up:

"The "substance" I am refering to is that there apears to be many ways to kill your opponents, so you don't watch the same execution over and over again in the same l evel. Substance also refers to many and varied levels, although I am still unsure of how many levels there are."

World of Goo probably has more levels, and more variety in said levels, than Madworld as well.

I will be buying this game as soon as I turn 17, which is 2 days after the release date.:D

I've been looking forward to this game for a long time, it just looks so amazing.

MadWorld really grabbed me once I saw the videos but after that initial reaction died down I started taking a closer look at the game and thinking about it. I'm going to be taking a wait and see approach to it. I remember when IGN were hyping Zack & Wiki and with that I took a wait and see approach. I rented it and I'm glad I didn't fall for the hype they were trying to present. Decent enough game but not really my cup of tea. I'm pretty sure if I had gone out and picked it up in order to show support for more unique titles on the Wii instead of party games it would be collecting dust on my entertainment stand. While exciting as the video was on first viewing I've come to feel it's just way to violent. I've always felt I didn't need an excessive amount blood and gore in order for a game to be mature or serious. In fact less is better. It just seems as if Wii games don't have any of it or go overboard the way MadWorld does. The more and more I think about the game the less it seems I'll be picking it up. I wish I could get into No More Heroes though. It seems good but really I don't find the humor in it funny and really I don't care for how it looks.

So if the game is trash it must sell like the trash shovel ware to make a difference. For some reason it does not make sence.

Can't I just buy the Conduit instead?
