thats a pretty innacurate over exaggeration

around 17 of those games are multiplatform, exclusive, or orignal IP.

5 are ports? are damn good ones at that.

Out of your list I am interested in Okami, which from what I heard is the same as the PS2 version with new controls.

When was Crysis going to be on the Wii?

Can you provide a link for Crysis on Wii? I believe that's just speculation, considering the whole concept of the game is it's graphics.

since when? ..and most of the games you listed there are obscure titles that people do not take notice to as much as SSBB or MK. Sure they may be fantastic games, but most people aren't like people here on the boards and don't really look into what's coming out. :? SSBB and MK are games that already have there names out there so they will be the most hyped naturally.... which is the whole reason for your topic; trying to spread the word :D

Baroque = looks good, but nothing special, plus its coming out on ps2, which is a slight insult to wii owners

Blast Works = dont know what this is

Dk and SF will probabaly make an appearance sometime = DK is owned by rare, snd rare is owned by MS, so no DK platformer is going to come out, SF with wii controls will ruin it alltogether, so no...

Ironre5

I thought Baroque would insult PS2 gamers since its coming to the Wii.

Also Blast Works looks like an extremely awesome game. Look for some vids.

Donkey Kong was created by Nintendo. Nintendo owns him.

Phantom5800

What are you smoking? DK is the original Nintendo mascot, why in hell would RARE own it? Ever heard of Donkey Kong in Super Smash? Or the three DK Bongo games on the GC that were made after Nintendo sold Rare?

Anyway, I agree Smash is big and it will be a blast to play, but like you said, there are still other games to look forward too this year (but the lack of Mushroom Men on your list saddens me).

nintendo may be able to make donkey kong spinoffs like bongo blast etc etc....but they cant make a DK platformer, you know why, cos rare has the rights to the DK platformer series, and Rare is bought by microsoft...do some research first, before saying that im smoking something.....also nintendo doesnt own MGS series, but they still have Snake in Brawl, and theygot that by partnering with konami to allow their mascot in brawl, and thats what theyve done with DK.ever since nintendo split with rare, they reatined some rights to DK. but since microsoft owns rare now, i f theres a new DK platformer itll be out on the 360...trust me, i know what im talking abou

That is entirely untrue. Nintendo created Donkey Kong in 1980. It was Miyamoto's first game, one of the first ever platforming games, and Nintendo's first huge success in the video arcade gaming market. This was all LONG before Rare ever existed.

Nintendo contracted Rare to use the Donkey Kong mascot in a platforming game, namely Donkey Kong Country, but Nintendo retained and still retains all ownership in the Donkey Kong name and gaming series.

Yeah, tons of good titles are coming out. I dont know why people only refer to the two. Personally, i want about 4 more games so far announced. Im sure more will come. i really want some good RPG action. The games im getting besides SSBB and MK Wii are:
Okami (maybe)
ToS2
FF CC:CB
King Story

mostly i really want to cut back on the amount of games i buy. Already i have 19 Wii games, i went a bit overboard.

let me clear this up for you guys....the NES donkey kong titles were developed by miyamoto, whereas the SNES and N64 titles were developed by rare, during the development of the snes and n64 titles, rare acquired IP rights to the titles along with nintendo, thus both rare and intendo own the franchise....but rare being bought by microsoft, gives micrsoft a stake in the franchise..

Ironre5

Let me clear this up for you. Donkey Kong, the series and all characters, are owned ENTIRELY by Nintendo. The development partnership between Nintendo and Rare for the sake of Donkey Kong platformers was a second-party relationship. It did not infer any ownership of the Donkey Kong product line to Rare whatsoever. This isn't up for debate, it's just the plain legal reality of the situation.

When Microsoft purchased Rare, they gained ownership of character sets and game series which were developed by Rare, such as Conker and Perfect Dark. They did not gain ownership of Nintendo series, such as Donkey Kong.

Now if you have some evidence to the contrary, go ahead and present it right now. If not, then this line of the conversation needs to end. The subject of other platforms on this board is at best considered to be off-topic, and at worst a textbook case of trolling. I don't want to close this thread, as I think overall it might serve well for further discussion on the SSBB franchise, but this particular line of conversation isn't completely kosher for this forum.

Ironre5

Banjo Kazooie was a game series that Rare developed. It was never an official Nintendo series or an official Nintendo mascot. As a result, with Rare's sale went the rights to the Banjo Kazooie series. That is not anywhere near the same kind of thing as the Donkey Kong series is to Nintendo.

the donkey kongs on the nes, snes and n64 are owned by both rare and nintendo....so if anything is to be done to those games, for exapmle, like a remake, or porting to another console etc...nothing can happen unless both nintendo and rare agree upon it...but now micrsoft has bought rare, but in the agreement, nintendo retained some rights to the franchise...you have to remember that all DK games were made before MS bought rare, this is including even the bongo games....microsoft bought rare towards the end of the last gen console lifetime...and no new DK game was made since, so microsoft will decide now if they want a DK platformer on their console or not....and since microsoft owns rare, and rare owns the DK IP, nintendo cant get any other developer to make a DK game...so in essence, a FULL DK GAME can only be on the 360 or any succesors to the 360.....COMPRENDE?

Ironre5

Wow, you know nothing about this. Time to get schooled.

the donkey kongs on the nes are owned by both rare and nintendo...

Ironre5

Donkey Kong games on the NES were made by Nintendo. Rare didn't take over for the series until Donkey Kong Country on the SNES.

nothing can happen unless both nintendo and rare agree upon it...

Ironre5

Wrong.

but now micrsoft has bought rare...nintendo cant get any other developer to make a DK game.

Ironre5

So wrong.

microsoft bought rare towards the end of the last gen console lifetime...

Ironre5

That's weird, because I could've sworn that MS bought Rare in 2002, not at the end of the last gen at all...weird indeed.

you have to remember that all DK games were made before MS bought rare, this is including even the bongo games....

Ironre5

All Donkey Kong games came out before 2002?

Even this one? How about this one? And this one, too? Wait, this one also seems to have come out before 2002.

And thesetwo came out within the past year...in fact, that 2nd one came out for the Wii.

And Rare had nothing to do with any of them...weird, huh?

microsoft will decide now if they want a DK platformer on their console or not....and since microsoft owns rare, and rare owns the DK IP, nintendo cant get any other developer to make a DK game...so in essence, a FULL DK GAME can only be on the 360 or any succesors to the 360

Ironre5

Wrong, wrong, and...wrong.

....COMPRENDE?

Ironre5

No, no comprende. Sorry.

let me clear this up for you guys....the NES donkey kong titles were developed by miyamoto, whereas the SNES and N64 titles were developed by rare, during the development of the snes and n64 titles, rare acquired IP rights to the titles along with nintendo, thus both rare and intendo own the franchise....but rare being bought by microsoft, gives micrsoft a stake in the franchise..

I don't understand... Nintendo owned Rare... why did they have to give Rare the rights for when Rare was working for Nintendo? And how is it possible for a Nintendo mascot to be on the 360?

this is really confusing now...but you have a point, i shall do furhter research, but just to let you know, banjo kazooie 3 on the 360, and banjo was kinda a nintendo mascot......

No he was wasnt. Rare had made him. Nintendo made Donkey Kong. Do you understand now?

i knew i was right all along, these guys on this thread confused me....

No, Banjo Kazoie was made by Rare. He wasnt a nintendo mascot. Donkey Kong was made by Nintendo. He is a Nintendo mascot.
