He's both right and wrong: he's right when he says being hit by a blue shell on the finish line on 150cc is frustrating. He's dead wrong when he says the wiimote makes you take dead turns. Don't listen to the guy, because it all works wonders. Believe a lucky pal version owner :P

This thread focuses on reviews, but reviews focus on gameplay, so it's not like we have to limit ourselves to only talking about the scores. Yuo can create a new thread if you have a good topic that doesn't really relate to reviews.

He doesn't like the core gameplay because of shells and stuff. Well that's the game you big black hole of talent!

In terms of 1 play vs CPU AI, you couldn't really "switch items off"- it wouldn't make much sense and would generally be too easy, so his moan is unwarranted IMO. However for online I really can't believe they missed out the option to tick / untick which items are included - although how you get anyone to agree is another matter (I guess someone opens a "no blue bombs room" and waits for 11 like minded players.

My take is that the 1st place bomb is fair enough (and shells are part and parcel), but I dislike the lightening strike and the POW block. And bullet Bill is ok for the 12th place driver, but 7th? Again I suppose its part of the tactics but its better to drop back and wait for a decent item.

Online is awesome, but I'm disapointed you can't race a cup (with a -250 penalty if you pull out halfway through).

Quick moan about the (classic) courses - are these really the best 16 of all time (ok theres going to be disagreements)

Overall though (and personally I'd give it 8.6) it reminds me of a PS1 game, Speed Freaks. Anyone play that>??

I think it'll score somewhere between 8.5 and 9.5 here on Gamespot. I doubt it'll score higher than Smash Bros Brawl or Mario Galaxy. It's going to be great regardless of what it gets though and I already have it pre-ordered, I can't wait :D...only 5 days left!J_Ford

Yes, I plan on using Rosalina. I made up my mind the moment I found out she was a secret character. I think it's awesome that she's in the game. Normally I use Toad but Rosalina is going to be my new main and Toad second. And I've made sigs for every character, you can use one if you want just go to my blog.

EDIT: Rosalina sux :$ it's not about the character but it's about the kart or the bike, because that's the special thing about it you can use a bike. a Mach Bike is one of the best i asure you :D it drifts very good BUT his acceleration is very bad :( i reccomend u use mach bikes :$

it came out here today. I rented it. It's really, really good. Sure, the graphics aren't the best. The character models in the menu's are horrible. Somehow, they downgraded Rosalina. The Wheel works great. It takes about 15 minutes to get used to it, but once you do, you feel no reason to play with any other controller. I haven't yet. The online is awesome and very addictive. You can invite people to get their friend codes through the wii message board. Sure, nothing new, but Mario Kart can send the letter out for you.

It's polished in some area's but not in others (graphics). I think GS will give it a 8.5 or a 9. That's what i'd give it.

Ok i didn't know that, thanx for the info anyway. maybe that's why everyone chooses funky kong with bike. really every, almost, every world record breaker for the parcourses have funky kong, i unlocked it today and its a cool char.

real sadly they give it such a low rate, i expect much much higher from the game. but the players rate on gamespot is 9.1 and i like that number :D i would give it a 9 too. but maybe that's too high for the game itself, maybe that's what the directors think.

More whining about chance having too much of a role. In this type of game, that's like complaining about the use of dice in Yahtzee.

I'm looking forward to a more difficult single-player experience. All the other MK games have been way too easy, with the possible exception of the DS version. As for multiplayer, the randomness of the weapons is most of the fun for me.
