Zelda isn't really a franchise that would target only the adult audience, this is a reason why Zelda won't go to a more mature status. Making a petition about this shows how little they know about the franchise.

Who cares about blood, gore and swearing, come on it's Zelda... Although I would very much like a darker and DEEP story.

Zelda will never be an adult game. Face it.... Nintendo knows that at the very least... T is the highest rating they would ever give it. It's a household name, and it sells.

Not to mention.... it's a puzzler. When have puzzlers ever been about being adult?

Remain Teen, but with a much darker/strong story and cell shaded visuals. That would be bliss.Rod90

I have no issue with that.

The people that want it more mature are the ones that stop playing it the soonest. Their suggestions can be considered last.so_hai

Could you explain this thought in detail?

Zelda's always been hope and courage in the face of power and imminent defeat.

I would like to add - I don't think mature like God of War is necessary, perhaps something more like Shadow of the Colossus which has a very mature atmosphere.Meinhard1

I don't think God of War is very mature even. It still had this LOL GIRLS HAVE BREASTS kind of atmosphere that made me feel like a teenager while playing it.

Guys, quit being so negative towards this request. It could really make the game more deep if done right. Like maybe developing a relationship with Zelda across the course of the game. Or trying to be with her more even though shes nobility and you struggle to protect her from an unaware Ganondorf who would use her power for evil blah blah blah.Kori-san

That'd be dreadful tbh.

Making Zelda more mature?

Why?

Do you want them to add sexy scenes between Link and Zelda, tons of gore, cursing, and a darker atmosphere?

They would lose all of their main fanbase - kids.

Mature-rated isn't the same as mature. I could live with a more mature version of Zelda, but it'd lose some of it's appeal in doing so. I definitely don't think it should be mature-rated, as graphic violence and nudity would do nothing to improve the game.

One thing I'd really want to see is for them to stop using freakish character designs for the NPCs. Ever since Link to the Past or Links Awakening (whichever came out last), where the NPCs looked much more human, I've always wished the characters could resemble that style a bit more.

Nintendo wouldn't dare, the Wii is a huge fanboy concle, without fanboys the Wii wouldn't have sold anything. If Nintendo wants to be a non-fanboy cancle there needs to be a murger.

^ Yeah, 99.9% of people like the new style...but I hate it! So creepy and ugly. :D

I missed out the N64 ones for the most part so the first Zelda I played thoroughly since LTTP was Wind Waker, and the style change properly freaked me out. :-P

I agree and think that would work. I am not sure why people are getting so bent out of shape about it. Give us a game that Wii can feel. Give us enemies that we want to kill, If they use Ganon AGAIN....make him do something evil enough to want to beat him.

To a degree I like what God of War does, but eventually they need to tone it down. Not the attractive women part, but the gore and violence. If that is the seller then God of War is for morons, but for me personally that is NOT the seller. For me it the visuals and gameplay. God of War HAS become Sony's Legend of Zelda. Gamers know this. It is because of this that people would like to see a darker tone to LoZ series. No one compares Zelda with Street Figher or Call of Duty or Madden, but LoZ/GoW comparisons are fair. Hey there is a lot they can fit into aT rating.

God of War is a freakin' brawler. Zelda classically has not. You can call it an "improvement" to turn Zelda into a brawler if you want. I wouldn't. LoZ has had enough dark plot tones to last a very long time - the trouble is most gamers can't tell because they're too distracted by the color scheme.

Of course not

Look at Prince of Persia: Warrior Within. While the gameplay was good, did the style appeal to fans of Sands of Time?

Well that's what most M rated games have in them.

I don't think Zelda needs an M but it has been nearly 30 years since the first Zelda came out and yes we are adults now and maybe need something more refined. Don't get me wrong I actually loved Wind Waker it was one of my favorites. It is just that Link has always had the same motivation, evil has appeared and only he can stop it. However as adults we know that this is hardly ever the case for some one doing something so dangerous. A Link to the Past is so far the only game to feature Link's father and he dies immediately. That's pretty grim. What is even more grim is that it is never brought up again...ever. That's terrible! Your father just died! That should be a defining moment in anyone's life. Death, murder, righteousness, grief, selfishness, self preservation; these are adult traits. Link is the hero of pure heart, but what if he wasn't? What if he was flawed like adults? What if the death of his father pushes him in ways that may seem extreme? Not saying this will get an M rating or should just as adults we (should) like deeper characters. That being said if they never change Link I will still play. I love the franchise (less the DS games, I hated them so far).

There are cheap online petitions for about everything. It's funny how some people are concerned about Zelda being so "mature" when the series was not conceived as such in the first place.
