[QUOTE="snowman6251"]how about that the overworld isn't really that important and isn't the focus of the game.Rocky32189

Why even have an overworld to begin with then, if it's going to be done so poorly? Well... other than to artificially lengthen a short game by making the player do tons of useless A to B travel. Besides that.

I doubt the three minutes it took you to travel from your home to your target was meant to substantially lengthen the game. The open world had all the elements of an open world, multiple places to visit, side quest etc. however the streets were empty, and the world was never used in conjunction with missions or side missions and that is really the only thing the open world gameplay was missing, unfortunately that is a big part of successful open world gameplay. I wrote in another post about a page back what needs to be changed to make it a sucessful overworld.

Yes the open world was weak and that was one of the negatives of the game, but imagine the potential if they improve that open world. If they do make it more alive and have more to do in this open world (MORE motorcycle gameplay) then it will have a huge effect on the game.

[QUOTE="Tri-Enforcer"]When I say that his games are unpolished, buggy, and rushed--that's truth. That's a common criticism, which leaves a bad taste in peoples mouths after playing his games. Yet they come back for more, because they're hoping his next iteration will correct the previous issues and then he lets them down again! Yeah, he make funny over the top games, but no one laughing when the lack of polish ruins the experience.clicketyclick
As Haziq said, the lack of polish doesn't ruin the experience for everyone, or leave a bad taste in their mouths. You're misinterpreting why people come back for more. What I can tell you is that I'd prefer to have a highly original, ambitious, unique, bizarre yet unpolished and buggy experience than the most slick, derivative one. I want NMH2 because I've never experienced anything like NMH. Ya, that open world was pretty empty and lacking life, but those were some of the most memorable boss fights I have ever experienced. If you want to understand the attraction, watch the most negative review you will ever find of the game: the Zero Punctuation review.

That review was just as annoying as the game itself! LOL

It wasn't just the bugs and jaggies (especially in HD) that ruined the experience. It was the repetition and lack of things to do in the quasi sand box world. It was better off not being there and just having the game section off into levels--not all the pointless in between stuff. The motorcycle riding was attrocious as well. I would of rather that Suda had skipped the empty sand box and reserved more time and space for extra levels and bosses--ya know--the game's forte!

Yes games are allowed to have flaws but *shocker* they can still be good.

I rather they focus on the games strengths instead of trying to unsuccessfully clone GTA's overworld again. They should scrap it and focus on the characters, boss battles, and environments. They should also try to improve the gameplay so its not so repetitive. Putting an overworld in No More Heroes is akin to putting multiplayer in Metroid: there's just no point.

That...was...awesome. The first one was great so I guess this one will be too. Man, I'm impressed by those environment graphics in comparison to the first one.

Yes they should not have if they cannot do it right, but the potential if they do it right is very high. So if they can do it better, by all means who is to say they shouldn't.

Some people can't get over certain flaws. There are "good" games that I reconize as "good" but certaindesign flawscan really ruin the experience for some, enough to not want to play it.

of course....I'm at work, and I can't watch the damn video!!!!!

those screens, they do look different from the last game. It looks smoother, and almost like the cell-shading has either been mixed together with realism, or I dunno. It just looks different to me. I don't mind it, but I'm surprised.

I'm still in shock this game exists....I never thought the first would get a sequel

But what's the point of having a GTA style overworld in a linear game like No More Heroes? It just doesn't fit. Also, it will always be compared to GTA, and will most likely fall short. Any time they spend on the overworld is time they are not spending on the gameplay, characters, and boss battles.

Thats just it, your thinking to simply, your mindset is focused on the lowest elemenst of GTA like "oh lets add more people so you can run over cops and hookers and thats that" no the open world can add to all those things you mentioned, lets say you faced an enemy who was say a Nascar(obviously called something else in the game) drive/ ranked Assassin. Now you could go to like a race track and do an arena battle with him like the first game or you could use the open world and a boss in conjucntion. Lets say the battle started at the race track in the middle of the race, Travis walks into the stadium he tries to run you over and bust out of the stadium and into Santa Destroy. Travis hops on his bike and give's chase so your tasked with following and fighting him while your tearing through Santa Destroy and he's driving around some James Bond like car with guns and the oil trick and all that other jazz. And you have to avoid these things get near his car, wreck it abit and then end it by liking jumping on the car and cutting off the steering wheel or something and making it crash. Just to finish the fight in typical arena style surrounded by the burning wreckage of the car and area that was totaled. Have the boss like turn the engine into a like a gun or something silly like that and finish the fight NMH style. There you would have a blend of open world gameplay, action, different environments and the arena combat No More Heroes is known for. I thnk the open world could be extremely beneficial to the game, because you could also do something similar with side missions/jobs. Unlike multiplayer in Metroid it can actually add something to the single player experience.

No because all they have to do is make it more interactive. Its not that hard to have a simple overworld that works. It was too sparse in the first one. Fill it up with more mini gamers, have more side mission assassinations, have street races, and more. Your telling me why we shouldn't have an open world based off of the flawed one in the first one instead one that could be good.

If they decide not to do it in return for better "gameplay, characters, and boss battles" then more power to them, but do not dampen the potential of what could be.

Those who totally misunderstand this game will compare it to GTA. If the open world elements combine the NMH combat and such it should not be compared.
