Oh I C , well I never played B&KN&B, but it seems to me from videos that it can hardly be considered a platformer. But I guess it's all opinion, so whatever.Â

You really have alot going for yourself Jason, but I shouldn't say that...
I would LOVE for Rare to work for Nintendo again. The only possiblity of that happening would be having Donkey Kong games 1st-party and the other games being published by Microsoft (since they're already doing that with DS).
Well maybe...just maybe it might come despite Rare being with microsoft. For example Viva Pinata is a Rare game on the DS as well as the 360. That shows that their is still some sort of relationship between the 3 companies. Next to Nintendo Rare is my favorite company.painguy1

That other company doesn't have a handheld so they don't mind taking even more money from Nintendo to make their own games for their own system.
Of course that didn't stop the new Banjo game from bringing up Diddy Kong but even for the older games they say they're for the XBOX so no.
YOu'll never see it

I would disagree given how bad there continuation of N64 titles have been, this new Banjo is the best of the lot, but its nothing like old ones. And when it comes to the best platformer Mario Galaxy has it beat by a massive margin. That ship sailed a long time ago

How is Rare in a better place? Compared to some of the games they have made recently, I would say with Nintendo they were making higher quality titles. That's why Nintendo got rid of them. Rare lost most of the talent that made them great during the NES-N64 eras. Only recently have they recovered and started making some good games.[QUOTE="painguy1"]Well maybe...just maybe it might come despite Rare being with microsoft. its possible. stop being so negative. As long as they have relations its possible just on a very small scale.

No I'm not being negative I'm being honest
Give me one good reason why that other company would let THEIR OWN STUDIO make games for their competitor that they're trying to catch?

Well on a somewhat unrealistic level Nintendo has things to barter with like design plans etc. But money can convince almost anyone or any corporation.

Because that studio does not have the backing to compete in the handheld market, therefore picking a pony for portable games would seem like a good idea.
In this case, the pony is Nintendo.

Once again they made Viva Piniata for the DS. It doesnt matter whether or not they have a handheld, either way microsoft is contributing to an increase in Nintendos wealth/profit (why would a rival company do that);). Also rememmber Starfox Adventures for the GC? I believe that game was made by Rare after Nintendo sold them to microsoft so yeah. :)[QUOTE="firefox59"][QUOTE="Jaysonguy"]Â

And I really doubt that a Rare game can come to the Wii (unless its through the virtual console) The reason why Microsoft let Rare make Diddy Kong Racing DS and Viva Pinata is because Microsoft does not have a handheld console on the market. Microsoft knows that the DS games can sell a lot, so thats why the released those games for the DS. Microsoft knows that the Wii is a threat, and thats why they probably wont release games for it. The DS serves no threat to them.

Yeah I'm pretty sure SF Adventures was not made after Micrsoft acquired Rare.

What? No! I'm sorry, but Rare still belongs to Ninty, and we were supposed to get DK racing on the Gamecube, but NO!!!! MS had to come in and show off their cash. Not trying to turn this into SW or anything, but Rare should never have left Nintendo for MS. That's why I refuse to play their XBOX games.[QUOTE="Jaysonguy"]What? No! All I knowis that MS bought Rare during the Making of Donkey Kong Racing. I haven't heard anything of this being Ninty's fault that Rare isn't here. http://www.gamespot.com/gamecube/action/donkeykongracing/index.html?tag=result;title;0[QUOTE="Jaysonguy"][QUOTE="nintendoboy16"] What? Rare said "Hey it really sucks being an independent company, we'd love for you guys at Nintendo to buy us so we'd have more power and security in the gaming field"
Nintendo said "Nah, we already do most of what you do better"
Rare then said "Ok well then can you sell back to us our shares in the company so another company can buy us?
Nintendo said "Ok, sounds good for us. We keep our stuff we created, you guys keep everything you created"
Microsoft then purchased Rare and that brings us to now

When dealings of this nature are done it's done by Nintendo, not just one branch of the company like NA or Japan.

That dosen't explain much, but I'm just going to end this with this: Rare is still making games for Ninty, but on the DS and they have to ask THQ for publishments because MS has to do console publishments. And what I want to see mostly is Perfect Dark on the DS.[QUOTE="Jaysonguy"][QUOTE="nintendoboy16"]Which Nintendo said that? NOA or Nintendo Japan? When Nintendo first invested in Rare they only purchased about 15% of the company, and probably only paid about $20,000 to do it. After that, whenever the Stampers wanted more money, they would sell another little chunk of the company to Nintendo at their (ever increasing) regular market value. Nintendo eventually ended up owning 49% of the company. When Rare's stock value hit about $500 million ($250 of which belonging to the Stampers), the Stampers thought Rare's stock had gone about as high as it could go, so they decided to take their winnings and cash out before the price went down. They didn't want to sell 2% of the company to Nintendo for some more chump change, lose control if the company (not even to Nintendo), and then watch their $250 million slip away for some reason they had no control over. So they offered to sell the company outright to Nintendo. Nintendo was not interested in paying approximately $250 million to keep Rare, and asked Rare to find other buyers. For reference, at about the same time, Yamauchi set up a fund called Fund Q using $200 million of his own money and loaned it to small developers to get them to publish Cube games. Even the loan of this kind of money was enough to even secure Square support on the GameCube. Also, control of Retro was bought out for a mere 1 million dollars, but it's unknown how much money Nintendo spent setting up the studio (Nintendo was footing the bills before and after the buyout). The Stampers received offers from at least Microsoft and Activision (yeah, the **** who recently canned Goldeneye XBLA because Iwata didn't like it), and went with Microsoft's offer to buy 100% of the company, including the IP's, for $375 million. The Stampers bought Nintendo's 49% and sorted out/bought all their IP's back from Nintendo for $100 million (on credit), and then sold the whole bundle to Microsoft, making $275 million for themselves. In a completely unrelated story, one month after selling their stake in the UK developer, Nintendo was fined approximately $100 million by the European Union for NES-era price fixing. The Stampers took paying jobs for Microsoft and ran Rare for four years before leaving to "pursue other opportunities", but AFAIK no new startup company has been announced.
