i dont think redsteel deserved a 5.5. ive beaten the game and found it quite enjoyable, but not spectacular. i think it deserves a 7-7.4. what are ur thoughts?fluffers623
I gave it an 8.5 in my review. It basically is fun if you ignore the countless minor problems it has. You shouldn't put your expectations too high when you play, it is a really fun game, Ubisoft just needed more time. I hope the sequel will give them enough time to show us how red steel was supposed to be.
I may find time to write a review later but I basically feel it was more of a 7.2 game, give or take a few points. The problem is though after playing a few hours I reached the point were the game really starts to glitch, that and the fact the sword mechanics feel heavy made me actually not enjoy this game until I had actually almost finished it when I starting to look past its bad points.Â
RS is truly a game which was rushed out for launch too quickly and it takes some looking past its bugs and glitches to really enjoy it, but I don't think reviewers had enough play time prior to reviews being written to realise this. Still it must make review writers feel a bit unessicary when games they have been scoring awful are selling so well, almost as if nobody even reads them.
[QUOTE="-Sparkz-"]Yeah, Redsteel is pretty good. I think it deserves an 8.7 :)

What surprises me is how everyone is saying "It was full of bugs."
I haven't played the game, so I'm curious, what bugs are there? People might be reading this and wondering whether they should buy the game or not (I'm one of them).

Well...that didn't sound intelligent at all... :S... Sorry "Reggie"
And... Red Steel is a great game!!! But, I would 've liked more motion movements, not just the grenades and the sword fighting...
I really would recommend this game...and the Multiplayer is awsome!!! Its so fun to play with your friends.
Red Steel: 8.9 (A+!)Â

The bugs the geninue ones can easily be avoided. Turn down the wiimote speaker volume.
The va I honestly have to ask what the hell do you expect Japanese people living in Japan to sound when they speak English? Most of them sound far far far worse then you could ever imagine. Because guess what English not a spoken language there. They speak Japanese. Those that learn English never really practice it. Most of those that are fluent use a translator. Miyamoto and Iwata are incredibly fluent English speakers but they always translaters to translate their Japanese into English. Reason their English is heavily accented.
Most Japanese people living in Japan that can speak accurate English sound exactly like the people in Red Steel.
Certain sounds in the English don't exist in Japanese so they never learn to accent those sounds properly. One of the reasons Revolution was dropped is because Japanese people cannot say the word because the v and the sound don't exist in Japanese. Most of them pronounce it as a W sound.
The vast majority of Japanese people that would actually speak English without an accent live guess where in English speaking countries where they have had a decade or more to practice English.

Lots of lil things. Like enemy parts would some times stick through doors and other objects(a la Goldeneye) and there were a few places where you could walk through walls or objects yourself. Also sometimes enemies would spawn but not be able to move, they would just stand there stationary like an action figure, but they would still taunt you and such. If you want to see some glitches and bugs yourself, you should just search "Redsteel Glitch" or "Redsteel Bug" on youtube.
The best one I've encountered(but been unable to recreate) is on the final sword battle, instead of drawing my sword, I drew my hand with a gun in it. I couldn't fire, but I could kind of swing it around.
nly in one area could I walk through stuff and that was in the sky lift area and that took a while to do. It crashed the game.
Never encountered those others. One bugged enemy spawn I was able to recreate but if you killed them in a certain manner they didn't get up and run away from you in invicible mode.
I have seen those other bugs you described in many a high rated game. Sorry but they exist in lots of games but somehow the game fawners never mention them.

I think your just one of those guys who just wants to criticize every little thing about a game and doesint just sit down and enjoy the game. Me I loved the game. Yea it had some problems, but it still was a fun game.

Hey now, I'm not the one who claims that an 8.9 (out of ten presumably) is an A+... Maybe you shouldn't be attacking others about intelligence.

There were some parts of the game I liked (when I reviewed it I gave it a 5.9, so I liked it more than even Gamespot), but the fact that people claim that this game is great really makes me sad. You could have it so much better, and I think that you should.

oh, so someone likes a game more than you do and so suddenly their insane:roll:
Red Steel is the first game I have got for Wii (excluding sport & Play) and I am having fun with it. I find the controls fine, no where near as bad as some say, there are some nice touches like the spot lights and that almost every item can be damaged. Now I have not had a consol since the original PS so am used to PC games and may be I am unaware of what's out there but I think Red steel is worth the money.

Thank god Gamespot have more sense than to rate games with countless bugs that you need to have low expectations to enjoy as high as 8.5 .
The aiming is actually fine. The sword control is okay ifyou swing slowly, like it's a 2lb blade.
The graphic is actually good enough... as long as they take out bloom. do you know how annoying it is when the spot light shine on you and then a couple yakuza kill you in crossfire?!

you do realize that when gamespot rates games they have to look for what most people would say, so they could have loved it but they wouldn't be allowed to ignore the bugs and such, i have the privilege to do that since my review is my personal opinion and i don't rate it knowing that the whole gaming community on this site has to find my review important enough to make a purchasing decision.

Part of the Gamespot grade factors into account how much fun the reviewer had. I believe it's the "tilt" portion.

But there is still a difference to Gamespot reviews because they know their reviews will get feedback and they don't want to damage the site's reputation, in that sense they won't always have a completey honest review.

it's not about flat-out lying, What i mean is they might foucs on good parts of the game more so that they don't get flamed for a lower score or vice versa, and Stuff like that.
