This topic isn't long enough for me to tell you what i want to see.
But, quite simply put if i had to pick 2 things.
1. A really good story
2. Orchestrated Sountrack and Voice acting.
That bump in production values would be nice.
no voice acting. i bet october 17. everything that is good that nintendo does happens on my birthdaygarrett_duffmanreally? then i hope you get a nice Bday present from nintendo :P but anyone could pretend they've met "someone from the inside" to throw a rumor. or they met, but the person who told them that could have no relation to the zelda team... "i'm the guy who reads fan mails for nintendo of america and reply them. i tell you: the new zelda will have a trailer in october!"
Apparently Nintendo is hard at work on a trailer to be presented in October.NormanOfTorn
I'd rather them being hard at work on the game
If this is true I will be very disappointed in Nintendo
No one should care about trailers, all they are is a way to distract the masses from the game

It's Zelda, the formula is known by even the most casual of players, there's nothing that they're going to show in a trailer that will make anyone say "oh I never knew that about Zelda" Guy in a green pointy hat goes and saves a princess.
It's a franchise that's decades old, there's no need to waste people's time, all effort should be placed on getting the game launched.
I would be especially disappointed after what happened with the last version of Zelda for a console. Not even bringing up it's quality the way it was delivered to owners wasn't good business. The game was finished and then was held back close to a year just so a ported version could arrive at the same time as Nintendo's next gen hardware.
The game is all that matters right now

Yes, because Miyamoto is personally editing this trailer... Miyamote isn't the only one working on Zelda. If the team is hard working at a trailer, then it's bad.[QUOTE="NormanOfTorn"]Apparently Nintendo is hard at work on a trailer to be presented in October.Jaysonguy

So you are going to purchase the game when it is finally released without even watchin a single minute of gameplay footage.
The "Zelda formula" that was used in all previous 3D Zelda games will not be present, at least the formula that is "exactly" like the others:
- You start as an ordinary villager
- Something goes bad so you need to go on a quest
- You will find out the main plot of the game after you complete 3 dungeons
- etc, etc, etc
This formula is kinda worn out by now, I think the reason they are taking a long time to make it is because they are trying to do something different and at the same time keep the Zelda Quality there.
The reason for no trailer at E3 is because the presentation in the game was not to the point where it was presentable. The trailer will consist mostly of gameplay footage that most people would like to see at some point before the game is released.
I am not asking for overhyping the game with a dozen or so trailers. I simply want to see ONE, JUST ONE trailer of the next Zelda, hopefully some time this year.
Since this is a ZEDLA game the trailer should make me feel the way I felt when I saw the first Twilight Princess teaser. I know that's a lofty goal, but that's just what Zelda games are supposed to do.alphamale1989
And we all know how great those Zedla games are... :P
Anyway...that would be pretty cool if they do put out a trailer next month.
Doubt it. A metroid game unvieled at E3 and a Zelda game unvieled in a little conference? na. E3 2010 is when its going to happen.
So you are going to purchase the game when it is finally released without even watchin a single minute of gameplay footage.

Yup
Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Kirby, Smash Bros, etc...
They're all franchises that you know what you're getting the second you hear the title
There's no need for a trailer.
Wait until the game is out and show some footage, to make a trailer is a waste of time.

All they have to do is record gameplay footage, edit it, add music, titles, and credits as needed.
Once the game is near completion and it looks good enough, it will talk the effort of only one person over the span of a few hours to make a quality Zelda trailer, because you know Nintendo doesn't make CG trailers.
So wasting a few hours in the 3+ years the game is in development is negligible.
I've listed countless things I want in the actual game, but as for the trailer:
1. Voice-over by a known character like Zelda in the WW commercial.
2. Best graphics on Wii, if not CGI ala WOTLK trailer.
3. Not entirely cinematic, gameplay interlaced.
4. A good sense of epicness. That means fully orchestrated music in the backround. And it should be like the TP revealing trailer where we didn't know what it was at first.
5. Absolutely NO sections showing people playing the game.
6. Confirmation of innovative WM+ controls.
7. Plenty of mystery. There should be things in there that we'll be arguing about the identity of for months.
8. A "Holiday 2010 release date".
I hope they keep information about the game very secretive, I felt that they gave away too much about Twilight Princess and built up too much hype that the game definitely didn't live up to. A trailer or two would be nice, but I'd rather they focus on the game itself rather than making pretty trailers.

Oh come on, no way a trailer is going to set the game back a lot. Plus I want to see some visuals off the game on how they are using the Wii's power.Eh, I see. Well, if they really do release a trailer for the game, I'll sure be excited. Then again, this is a rumor, and I will treat it as such; you won't be getting any major hype from me 'till it's confirmed by Ninty.:P
It won't be gameplay footage if they indeed show a trailer. I wouldn't be too excited, it's just to keep the hype train steaming along

Cept it has a 92% review average and is among Nintendos most unique and best. If you played it and didnt like it, fine but if you just watched a trailer and wrote it off, then thats sad. And for that, i agree with JasonGuy
Well, if it's a rumor I won't hype too much, though I wouldn't be too terribly surprised if they did show it.

To hire someone to take a 30 second to 3 minute video of someone testing the game (ya know the thing they do to make sure its fun, playable) wouldn't be nearly as determental to the game's development as you're letting on, all they have to do is record video of it being played, perhaps video of some cutscenes and then while the developers are still developing the game send the footage to someone else to cut it the way they want to show the coolest things they want in the trailer
it wouldn't hinder its development at all
its not like SHiggy steps away from the dev kit and goes out and buy an iFlip, video recorder or something, then returns to the studio to record himself playing it before he then realises he can't record and play at the same time, thus delaying the game 2 years until Shiggy asks Reggie to hold the camera
How about no company ever shows trailers for their games, never in advance, and just tell people when it will release and release it with no gameplay videos to help them judge whether they'd like to go out and buy it at launch?

SMS didn't look like that to him so he didn't have to spend $50 on it, hopefully he spent that on something useful (or another game)

god, Metroid, SMG2, pikmin 3, NMH2, DQ10, Arc Rise, Fragile, Tales of Graces, Zelda, MH3 all in one year, are you serious? My bank account might as well get the money taken out now!

I doubt that. Zelda games are usually a revealed a decent amount of time before they are released. We'll be lucky if it's released next year at all.People seriously think that making a trailer is going to hold up game development? You know nothing about anything.TheLordMagnus
Not people, JaysonGuy.
I too, do not see how in any way, shape or form making a trailer would hinder development at all
It really depends if Nintendo makes the trailer (if one is planned)
Sometimes, companies hire other companies to make trailers for upcoming games, and sometimes the actual developer takes the time to create one.
If Nintendo is the actual company making the trailer (which I'm assuming they always do), that would take time to make, and that's time away from actual work. Just because it might be a quick little trailer, doesn't mean it doesn't take time to create. It could at least a month depending on how many people are put to the task of making it.
Companies also hire different companies to even do cgi cut scenes for games. It just depends on what's going on.

Going by that logic we don't need reviews either, since we already know what we're getting. Hell, what's the point of buying any of those games, they're all the same like they've always been. We know how it's going to end. Seriously, pull your head out and stop being so ignorant.[QUOTE="danger_ranger95"]it looks so official!Uh Oh.... I found a poster for the upcoming game!
LoG-Sacrament
It sure does! Almost too official even... Hm...
Anyway, I'm rather skeptical about the likelihood of this actually happening. I mean, how many times have we heard something like this, only to find out its a lie? I'm not saying it's not true, just that there's a good chance that it is.
I think they willshow it!Miyamoto wanted to show Zelda i believe at e3. They probably just needed a little more time. They will most likely have a fall conference and show it there. Also, I would expect aPikmin 3 Trailer, Official release date for NSMBW, a Q release for Galaxy (most likely Q1), more info on various titles (like OM) and if we are extremely lucky, Retros new Project!I have high hopes for this new Zelda. I hope to see voice acting, epic and somewhatchanged Gameplay, NO EPONA! I love Epona, but it would just feel too much like Deja Vu. Why not introduce a Dragon so you can fly and go on Land!

Really? Do you honestly think it takes that much resources to put a trailer together? It's called business. That is when Nintendo uses trailers to advertise their game, to build some hype around it.
Sure to the hardcore fanbase that hangs out on forums discussing videogames, we don't need a trailer. It's Zelda. We know, we wait, we get excited. But, a trailer has to be made, that's just common business sense.
Secondly, stop kidding yourself. TP was amazing. Period.
