RUMOUR Time: Sonic to be Playable in Mario Galaxy 2? UPDATED with Another Tweet.

UK-based Ngamer magazine has claimed on their official twitter account that an "inside source at Nintendo" has revealed that Sonic will be playable in Super Mario Galaxy 2, scheduled for release later this year. Of course none of this is confirmed by any means, but this would definitely be an interesting development.

How would you feel about Sonic in a Super Mario title? Would Nintendo show Sega how to do 3D right, or will it just feel awkward?

UPDATE: They're also claiming that specific Sonic levels will be included, the example being "Green Hill Galaxy".

I think it would make SMG2 vastly outsell their Olympic adventures together.

If they put both Mario and Sonic on the box. I know Nintendo EAD could nail 3d Sonic. It has been my dream that a developer like them does a Sonic game.

SMG 2 is not a story driven game. It would work great if Sonichad different,but still had relevant gameplay from Mario.

I can just see the Sonic fans coming out saying in masses that "this will not work the gameplay it too different" but then you just have to look at any Mario game ever and realize that in SMG alone he rides a sting ray, a ball, and has loads of suits that are much different than his regular platforming. Mario is all about variation and this truth is even more true in SMG where stages are seperated and controlled.

That would be cool, you know, like a sonic playthrough mode like Luigi had in the fist one.

As long as he has NOTHING to do with the story and the initial playthrough, Im not against.

I wouldn't mind if it is what Jordan said and there was a sonic galaxy. But if sonic is used often and is a big part of the game, then i could see it being a problem

I want Sonic in an Adventure game with Mario, but not a proper Mario Game! This is Marios home franchise and I dont want Sonic any way near its turf. Sonic and Mario in agame=GOOD. Sonic IN a Mario game=BAD

If nintendo does put sonic in and its great, then nintendo must handle sonic and buy sonic team of japan.

Maybe Robotnik teamed up with Bowser Jr. to revive Bowser.

I just hope if this is true, and there are dedicated Sonic levels that they are big levels and not small planets spattered around. Can you imagie running around little orbs at high speeds? It would completely throw gameplay off

I do like me some mario, but galaxy was not my cup of tea. I preferred Sunshine over it, mainly because it was difficult.

The only reason why i bought RE4 is because i know that i like it and can play it over and over again.

I like games that last, which is why you will never hear my raving about no more heroes or madworld or the conduit or any of these mature titles for the wii. an eight-hour good game is not worth a buy for me. The godfather was an amazing game, I put 40 hours into that game, but there just wasnt enough replayability for me. It's not that I only pay attention to the big N's games, its just they usually give me the most bang for my buck, zelda especially. I just want a good game that will last, and personally i don't see a lot of that on the wii.

I've never liked Sonic games, hated them in fact, even the original trilogy. Not even a a huge fan of Mario, though I have played SMG and it was beautiful.

So, Sonic in SMG2, no thanks. Possible deal breaker, Nintendo. Be very careful how you implement this, if it's planned at all.
