[QUOTE="LastRambo341"][QUOTE="lazyathew"] Yes they do.... They were the creators of Sonic the hedgehog, used to be Nintendos biggest rival, till they lost and stopped making systems. Now they are a third party puplisher.
* If they advertise that game and adds some quality into it, then people will buy it * Lol, you think I don't know Sega. SEGA PUBLISHES Sonic games, SONIC TEAM DEVELOPS Sonic gamesSonic team is part of Sega... No, SEGA OWNS themHeck, the game's been around $10 on Amazon for monthsMadmangamer364
This is where I stopped reading and immediately checked that. MadWorld always looked enjoyable, but its supposed brevity always made buying it seem like an unfair deal (as I play a high regard on longevity). However, I'd be willing to pay almost $8 (includes shipping) for 6 supposedly very great hours. So yes, I did order it. Thank you, though I doubt that was your intention.
As to what he said, he was mostly right. Those kinds of games really don't do well on the Wii. Of course, most non-Nintendo games don't do well on the Wii, but what can you do? The snowball that started rolling from Pokemon Red & Blue back in the 90's has never halted, despite how much Nintendo claims they're trying to shake the image.
MadWorld is a great game, but it was obvious from the start that a game with such an obscure presentation was only gonna appeal to a select crowd of people. Black-and-white presentation, over-the-top violence, arcade-like gameplay and a lot of dark humour: that's not 'big crowd' kind of stuff. Passing it off as 'a Wii audience thing' is simplified and disrespectful towards both the Wii audience in general and the people who did buy and enjoy it.
Personally, I feel like Madworld was missing its audience. The game is far too bloody and violent for minors, and yet, the humor was so junior high school that it was targeted at that age. A vomit joke? Really? I played the first level, and put it down. One of very few games I own that I wish I hadn't bought. Even for $10. It was also tiresome, and boring. When I got to the end of the first level, the idea of playing another level was depressing.MadWorld is a great game, but it was obvious from the start that a game with such an obscure presentation was only gonna appeal to a select crowd of people. Haha, more power to you for picking up the game. I have nothing against you doing so, and I hope you enjoy it. I just can't bring myself to do the same, that's all. :P
Now in regards to what sells on the Wii and what doesn't, of course there are certain games that are going to be better fits for the console than others. Obviously, Nintendo's own games are usually the selling points behind a Nintendo system these days, and games hoping to be successful have to be able to fit a certain mold in order to reach out. Still, while that mold itself may be different on the Wii than the other consoles, it still follows a very similar principle. Trying to effectively sell a game like Madworld on the Wii would be like trying to sell a Care Bears game on the Xbox 360; chances are that it's not going to work very well. Still, the biggest thing about it all is that you're not going to see a publisher pointing fingers and making excuses about why it didn't sell with the latter because publishers aren't trying such stunts with the other consoles period, much less expecting huge sales out of them.
Nintendo's always been perceived as the family-friendly company in the industry. That's what it hangs its hat on and does best, and the Wii has executed on the philosophy the best out of Nintendo's home console efforts to date. At this very moment, it's not like this image is one that Nintendo should be in a hurry to get rid of. Still, that doesn't mean that third parties can't be successful, as they have been in the past. They just should look for ideas that better fits the mold of the Wii, as opposed to making "Mature" games for the sake them being there.

Agreed. I finally gave it a chance, and I guess it gets a few points for style, but the game really isn't that hot. Unless you're a kid who thinks blood in a video game is the height of coolness, I can't see any appeal to this game. Sure, it worked for Mortal Kombat when it first showed up, but that was a LONG time ago.MadWorld is a great game, but it was obvious from the start that a game with such an obscure presentation was only gonna appeal to a select crowd of people. How about they make a good hardcore game on the Wii first then complain about it having poor sales. Madworld is style over substance to me. These companies that make a so called hardcore title need to actually make one that's good and not just half @ssed. On rail shooters don't count either.
[QUOTE="lazyathew"]COD3, MWR, WaW, RE4 and RE UC are rated M and they sold well CoD 3 was rated T for Teen. Just to let you know.Obviously they are going to blame the wii audiance. What they said is right, Wii owners are generally less interested in M games. Why do people always make a big deal about this? I saw something like this somewhere when Suda said the same thing about No More Heroes. They don't sell as well on Wii because most Wii owners aren't as interested, it's true, what's the big deal??

Vanillaware made Muramasa for the Wii, and that's a pretty hardcore brawler game, seeing as most of the value of it comes from repeat runs for various accomplishments - usually speed runs or somesuch. It sold better than their previous effort - Odin Sphere on the PS2, despite the Wii having smaller overall hardwares sales. Monster Hunter Tri by Capcom sold enormously well in its traditional bailiwick in Japan. And of course, Nintendo games of every stripe normally sell well. It isn't that the market isn't there. The problem is that Wii games get no funding - third parties don't want to support the Wii. Third parties have never wanted to support NIntendo systems. There's a longstanding animosity between third parties and Nintendo. How about they make a good hardcore game on the Wii first then complain about it having poor sales. Well it is a big deal to those of us that love the Wii and want to play mature games on it.

Why would anyone want to play games rated "M" by the ESRB, because of the rating? These ratings are usually based on what ESRB morality preaches is wrong for kids to view. I am not a kid. I have long since abandoned any notion that having "M" in the rating is anything magical or desirable. I play games and consume media in spite of an M rating, not because of it. Some stories and concepts only work using things children shouldn't see, but I don't consider such content essential. I can totally do without them in my videogaming, as long as the gaming is good. Please Log In to post.
