Yeah, but Adult Link's sword is obviously bigger.

And to reply to Jason:

I choose Adult Link because he is what has made the series epic. Remember Ocarina of Time? Plus, frankly, he just looks like he could kick anybody's buttocks.

bob_newman

You know that OoT wasn't the first Zelda game, right? In the first Zelda game, Link was a boy, not a man.

How do you know that? You could say Mario wasnt a man, but he is.

He's right. Look at Young Link's trophy in SSBM. It should clear things up.

I don't recall there ever being concrete proof of Link's age in the original, but we do know he is young. We were supposed to be able to identify with him, his was a story of coming of age. One thing we do know, though, is that the adventure of link(zelda 2) begins as this same link turns 16. So, he was under the age of 16.

Link has never been particularly old. Even in TP and OoT he is still a teenager(just, very near 20).

At least, from what i've understood.

Yeah, and that's really my point. I don't look at a 15 year old and say "he's a hero". In fact, I think that a young child is more of an impressive hero than a 15 year old boy. I mean, I wouldn't have been able to pick up the Master Sword at that age, let alone stab Ganondorf through the top of his head with it.

Smash Bros proves that Pichu was a mistake because he isn't in SSBB.

Ok, first of all, I strongly disagree with you. No offense, but, saying that Toon Link's "superiority" in Brawl means that developers prefer him, doesn't make sense. Some characters in Brawl seem unbalanced and it doesn't mean that they are more important than the others. I find Pit and Meta Knight to eb extremely fast and make a lot of combos, which make them hard to beat. Obviously, those franchises aren't more important than the others featured in Brawl. Besides, saying Toon Link is better because he is faster is like saying that what only matters in Brawl is the character speed and that Bowser and DK have no chance against the others. Anyone can be good with anyone in this game, there are not supposed to be superior characters, though you, in yourr opinion may find some, because of your way of playing.

Well, to end my point, I will also like to add that cell shaded Zelda is definetly not the principal Zelda style. They decided to make TP with normal graphics to please the fans, for a reason. I really hated Wind Waker, as you can notice. I'm a huge Zelda fan, but I think that if all the next Zelda games will be cell shaded, I would leave the franchise.

Once again, I still fail to see what argument Jason is attempting to offer.

Linking the quality of Zelda games with the two Links from Brawl makes no sense. Calling one character superior over the other is also a bit foolish and ignorant. I find regular Link better to use than Toon Link. Does that mean I'm wrong? No. One character is only better over the other by the way they are used.

[QUOTE="rcignoni"]It's a matter of opinion of course. Some people are good with Link, others with his Toon counterpart. The really is no "best" character in Smash.Jaysonguy

They're ranked differently.

On a scale of 1-10 some rank higher on the scale because of their skills and some rank lower. Mature Link ranks lower then Toon Link in just about every single one you look at. From the Prima guide to the websites devoted to Smash competition.

I'd rather not look at the game technically. I'd rather have fun with a character I believe I'm good with, not rank them based on skills. That's for competitive tourney players, who play without items and are limited to final destination and Fox by their stubbornness.

I mean, he can rank higher, but depending on the player, Link could take on Toon Link, "statistics" aside.

I have to agree on the subject

If two great players one with toon link and one with link went head on, toon link would probably win, because of this counters

boomerang, bow and bombs are all quicker than links

but if a novice toon link goes against link they would probably loose because they probably wouldnt know hot to take advantage of the weapons and link would just pwn him because he sword is longer

Not really. Two different playstyles can mean different results. Toon Link has some superior abilities, yes, but that doesn't mean "mature" Link can't win either.

Oh and nice 777 posts :P .

Thx Lol?=D

But yea if the player try to dodge the triple counters(Bomb, Bow and Boomerange and actually get close to Toon Link he might have a chance) or Link can stay afar since his range weapons are farther

That i agree with; in fact i'd say no art style is the definitive zelda. One of the most awesome things about the zelda universe is that it undergoes so many art styles! Seriously, how many other franchises see such drastic changes in their main series?

As for the Links I'm sticking to my story. They could have taken some off of Toon Link and not had anyone bat an eyelash. Instead they pumped him past the Mature Link. I sense for something other then plain oversight.

Jaysonguy

Uh, maybe they just made him a little more powerful because he's an unlock character? So he's a bonus character to unlock, vesus just another costume?

[QUOTE="GamerForca"]I don't know about Toon Link being better... it's close... but overall people definitely don't prefer toon or young Link over adult Link in the Zelda games. Super-Mario-Fan

And these people, you know them all and know that for a fact? Did you make thi huge poll to know the answer?

Yeah, it's called sales. Nintendo has stated that WW nearly killed the franchise because of it's inadequate sales (even though they weren't really that bad). WW sales < TP sales. Fact. I loved WW and PH, but many people I know hated the "childish" look. A lot of hardcore fans loved it, most fans in general did not. Fact.

Are you sure about this? Twilight Princess was a huge sales flop in Japan.

The sales? Of course. TP sold about 6 mil, WW barely 2 mil.

odd that nobody's brought up toon links "old school" costume(brown hair, red undershirt)...

though i don't really see how portraying toon link correctly in brawl=mature link a mistake...

I like Toon Link more, but I don't really think that it goes as far to show that Nintendo prefers Toon Link over Mature Link.
