OK so you are on a family road trip and you have packed up your Wii and (if you have one) DS. Your car is the only one on the street. Your family is talking about what they are going to do when they get to [blank] when all of a sudden you see a UFO flying saucer! Everyone panics and eventually the UFO lands in front of your car and strange looking beings come out. They take you and your family inside the space ship and allow you to take a seat on a "table." First of all they tell you that by the end of this you willremember nothing and that they do not wish to harm you in any way. They want to study us. They tell you the reason they don't try to communicate or even be seen by the public is because they want to study us, in our natural habitat with no distractions from the outside worlds. They ask you several hundred questions and answer several of yours and you are simply in amazment of their answers. They tell you all the secrets of the universe such as the famous ---------- -- ------- --------- ------ -- --- ------------------- and the mysterious ------- ------ -- --- ------ --------- -------- -- ------------- -------!!!!!!. But at the end they simply ask you if they can take your Wii (not a joke, NINTENDO Wii) and DS to their home planet to study.

WHAT DO YOU SAY? If you say "Yes!" they will take them and all of your games and you will never play a Nintendo product again. In exchange they will give you a star map that you showing where all the planets that contain life in our galaxy with alien writing on it. If you say "No!" they will not take the Nintendo products and leave them as they are. You wont get the star map. The choice is yours. Do you want to let an alien being a Nintendo product (mario will truly have been in space) to their home planet to play (study) and have the satifaction of knowing you let them take it to study and you get a star map containing the planets with life in our galaxy. Keep in mind at the end of this you will have a star map not knowing where it came from or what it is, nor can you tell anyone about it.

Kind of off-topic question here but, do you believe in aliens?

EDIT:

Took off "you can't possibly show the map to anyone."

Added "Do you believe in aliens?"

If you don't remember what the star map is, how will you remember not to tell anyone? I would probably say no, regardless.

Well a star map is priceless... so I pick that. I could always buy another Wii (if I could rack up the money) Plus when they run out of batteries, they would just come back and beg for more. And for every one battery I give them, in exchange they must bring me space crystal and moon rocks. I will sell all the crystals and rocks and make MILLIONS!

You wont remember to tell anyone, you just don't. Try not to think about that too much. You just can't tell anyone, it's not based on memory.

No you can't buy a Wii ever again. I'm thinking of changing the rules of this scenario slightly...

In a way your right, but you still can't show the map, and I assume people wouldn't believe you if you said you find another planet with intelligent life. Pictures might help the situation, but I'd still say no.

But why? I have MILLIONS by selling the crystals and moon rocks. I could buy whatever I want. I could buy Nintendo. I have a whole army of aliens at my disposle as long as I promise them batteries.

Hmmm good point. But maybe they just want to study the games and what kind of content was put into them and how they were made and so forth. I know they could take it from someone else, but let's just pretend here ;).

Well now it's a hard decision, because their are many different pros and cons of knowing about life on other planets. One pro I can think of is that if the "aliens" are willing to engage in trade with the U.S. it might have a significantly positive effect on the economy. One con would be that if we make enemies with them, well...who knows what could happen. There are a couple flaws in the pro I stated that I just now realized as I wrote this, because trade would be insanely expensive to do between planets. It's all too complicated for me to explain or really understand, right now I still can't decide between yes or no.

We wouldn't make enimies with them because they are a lot smarter than us and they know better than to make an enemy, besides all they want to do is study us, if they wanted to destroy us they would have already done it. And trade wouldn't be TOO hard because it takes about 8 months to travel between planets but you're kind of missing the point here and we're diving into a whole over conversation... oh well :)

It varies. "Aliens" could have developed before humans did for all we know in distant galaxies. History is different for them. They probably would have developed civilizations and technology quicker or slower than us, because it would be ridiculous if they had been following our ways of society throughout history. In this situation maybe they want to compare technology to their own, maybe they're technologically disadvanced compared to us and study it so that they CAN create their own, though I don't see what making Wii's would really do for a developing civilizaiton. "We have successfully made a Wii!" "Cool...now can we establish a government and trade?" Can't really answer this either...nobody can.

Sorry, I got really into this idea. I think under these circumstances I would have to say...yes, I'm not gonna explain why again, cause then there would be another wall of text. :)

hmmm... I could always play a console made by another company... though having the "star map" would be useless so I say no. EDIT: I don't believe in aliens... or at least the concept of aliens. There may be bacteria out there or whatever, but nothing intelligent.

The head of pin at arm's length blocked out of the sky contains about 100 galaxies. Each galaxy contains 100s of billions of stars each. Don't you think, at least some where there is a planet with life that has evoloved? BTW I would give the Wii away and get the star map... Even if I didn't remember I'd love to just see it...

I know you changed it, BrunoBRS was saying it's pointless to have a map when you don't know what it is and nobody would believe him if he showed it to someone. I was just saying if I had a map that I didn't recognize I would show someone.

Imagine how fascinating we are to them. I would imagine life is somwhat rare in the universe and they come and visit us all the time to study us and our social behaviours. They are probably a lot smarter than us and they know better than to interact with us. They'd rather study, study, study. They probably wont try to communicate with us until they've become bored with us which should be in a few hundred years... Or maybe they want to make long term studies, and they wont communicate unless we come to them.... that's when they talk. Anyways It would be funny seeing an alien play Wii with the motion controls XD. Imagine them getting hooked on Brawl and trying to link with Earth to face our planet. Imagine the lag issues, OK press jump.....wait about a year ... OK HE JUMPED, YAY!!

YOU CAN TELL PEOPLE ABOUT THE MAP. A star map could be worth a lot, or it could be worthless, depending on if they believe you... But no being able to play Wii... ever.....*moans*

No not really I like seeing people's reactions and what they'd do in this situation. Not to mention the thought of aliens playing studying video games is funny. I want to see how much people like their Nintendo games... Some people think the star map is useless, others think its really valuable.

What good would knowing about them be.... what good would knowning about them be... Imagine... the first pictures of alien civilization sent from spaceship probes, a first look at other life in the universe, I would give everything I have to see a picture of a civilization from another planet man....

I don't see how any one can be stupid anough to think that aliens flat out DON'T EXIST, like someone said, the Universe is fricken MASSIVE, there are probably billions of stars with planets, and the fact that this planet has life, means it isn't imposiible, so in those billions, there has to be other cabable planets.

Back to the actual question, I wouldn't, I think the chances of the map actually gaining any value from the story are so unlikely. It would only stand a chance if you were an astranaut, so you could talk with the Space people directly, but other than that the chances are way to bad to actually gain anything from it.

Yes, I keep the map, show it to people, they wouldn't believe me. ALIENS, they don't exist. I'll be persistent and eventually a scientist, astronomer,or ufo believer, will take a second glance at the map and take that chance. The planets will be found, then like a domino effect, It ends religion, I become the greatest scientist, of all time, forever, and I'll be rich. The con is that I will never play a nintendo product, ever again, no more mario, SSB, ZELDA, and future games I would never see. Is it really a con, no because, once out of the ship, and magically unable to play nintendo games ever, you can't play them, you lost your memory, so you won't miss anything. Even if it was living through life, with the star map knowing that I made that decision, that caused me to never play nintendo ever again, it would hurt but I would still take the star map.

You know, this could work out as a very creative and articulate way to get a free Wii and DS. All you need are a couple of accomplices, some alien costumes, a long list of personal questions, a few spies, a functioning disk-shaped aircraft...

I can make this work.

Yeah, pretty much exactly what I was thinking. BTW, you were joking when you said you would torture the bird for no reason right?
