Play Bioshock, it doesn't look as good as people say, "the art direction is bad."
I played enough next gen games to know what I am talking about.
I am DEAD serious by the way.

The Conduit and Bioshock are soooo different andI am not just talking about how one is a traditional FPS and the other is a FPS RPG. Thegames graphical styles are so different. Bioshock uses small environments and darkness to its advanatge so it can make extremely hi rez textures. The Conduit has broader scale and is much more fast paced with lighting. Furthermore they are on very different hardware one being on more powerful hardware.

That's good and all but I'd rather play both games with one of these:
Any day....
I guess I won't be playing BioShock.
Another terrible fanboy game comparison. Bioshock to The Conduit, really?
Saying Conduit looks better than Bioshock sounds more fanboy to me. Never said it was... No,but the pictures were for the user 'snover'.[QUOTE="snover2009"]

You're joking, right? The top screen looks like kids play. "Where in the world is carmen sandiago" comes to mind. Seriously, Myst, a game that came out in what, 1996? looks better than that bioshock screen.psychobrew
When it's all said and done, a Wii game could potentially look like a 360/PS3 game played in standard definition.
Just ask these developers of theupcoming newSilent Hill Wii game: http://gonintendo.com/?p=78663 .
The Conduit will be one of those games.

You don't need hi definition to tell that games like MGS4 and Gears of War 2 are light years beyond anything the Wii can achieve at it's absolute peak. When it's all said and done, a Wii game could potentially look like a 360/PS3 game played in standard definition.

You're preaching to the choir my friend. I hear ya if many others don't. All I have to say is, if you don't pick up The Conduit...then you're missing out. All I know is that I'm interested and will certainly pick it up on day 1. Hopefully more will pick it up so I can have alot of people to play with online!

There are some hardware limitations with the system and we've said from the start that we want the game to look as close as possible to the 360 and PS3.

I think you need to look at some early "next gen" games. Obviously the games won't compare at an HD level (this won't ever happen), but you take games like Conflict: Denied Ops, Turok, Turning Point: Fall of Liberty, and the Conduit doesn't look that far behind. And if you add better art direction to the game (something along the lines of an Metroid Prime title or Bioshock) and you have a game that would look significantly better than those 3 titles I mentioned despite a smaller polycount. Needless to say, the tech is certainly there to run games at a near "next gen" level but the art direction and texture limitations are what is holding it back. And given that HD is still yet to break into the mainstream gamers house, the differences will become less and less as the years go on.Why are we comparing it to early next gen games? Why not current? Comparing Conduit to old games won't help your point too much.

Some of us still like our older games.Good read, cheers for the link!G4tv has a preview of the The Conduit.
The graphics are meeting the hype, and according to High Voltage Software, they are just the tip of the iceburg.
I can't wait for The Conduit II and whatever else High Voltage is working on.

Which just shows D.C. is not generally what people want to looks at for long bouts of time in a game. Later in the game the art breaks out into something of its own. Im inclined to agree with you somewhat. the art is pretty generic, which is strange cause that has never been the Wii's problem. most games on the wii that ive seen have had excellent art direction ( or wrather they've had to have good art direction to make up for its technical limitaions), Mario galaxy, metroid prime 3 and Zelda Twighlight Princess are a few examples.
But you have to appriciate The Conduit's graphics from a technology standpoint. which i have to say is impressive, But i agree with you, the art could use some help. maybe conduit 2 will have a better design team.

True, the conduit does not look like a 360 game, but its a good looking wii game and pushes the hardware to the limit, and thats commendable.

The only thing that these screens show that the 360 is better at is handling more polygons at once (the edges of everything).Conduit, will have rough edges, that's un-avoidable, just like any other Wii game in the past/future.Everything is damn close looking, and your comparing a mid-late 360 game to a higher-end Wii game (graphically speaking).
@ everyone talking about ART DIRECTION....... obviously, you all have no idea what art direction means, so quit talking about it. Unless you are an artist yourself, please....please.... just keep quiet. Like a few people have said before me, what is HV supposed to do??? change how D.C. looks? If you've never been there, I suggest you do and edit your posts. There's no "pleasureable visualizations" for the eyes besides monuments (which are also boring to most people), and offices anywhere in the world are always dull looking.
The characters on the otherhand, they are very well designed. Whether you refer towards their official artwork, or their actual 3d models, they are all well designed and smooth looking. High Voltage has done very well from a technical standpoint, whether you think the "art directin" is appealing or not.
