The Official Monster Hunter Tri Online Thread -- NEW THREAD IN OP

I am so pissed right now. There was this 1 guy named Calisaur, did a capture Gobul quest in Flooded Forest a while ago with him (let's just assume) and 2 more guys (assuming too). As you all know, a R.Ludroth appears (don't know if always), so I went for it so that we'll have freehunt bonus, and RL items too.

The RL was close to limping (by instinct) when they said we can cap gobul now, and I was the one who has the supply Shock Traps and I also brought tranq bomb. All 3 of them left it in area 3, to go after RL, all of them claiming they all don't have cap materials, so I want after it, and set the trap. Unluckily, the Gobul limped away to area 8. And Calisaur blamed me for messing it up. That's coming from a guy who wasn't prepared, and left it in area 3.

Good thing 1 guy brought a trap since I cant set up 2 traps at the same time. Bad thing is, he set it on land (in area 8), and to make things worst, RL was also limping and he went on land in area 8 . We managed to kill RL, and I again, went after Gobul since my other trap has expired, so I set another one. Unlucky for me again it limped away to area 6. Calisaur blamed me again for messing it up. Again, coming from a guy who hasn't done anything yet to make the situation better. Good thing it went back to area 8 and was finally trapped. And we cleared the quest.

20 seconds to return, and Calisaur was still blaming me. I admit I called him (or them) a noob (and I was already so pissed at the time I said it since he kept saying I ****** up.. I can just assume what that is), but that's because they ALL LEFT it in area 3 when it was limping, and no one admitted they have brought traps, and this one guy set it on land when Gobul was in the water. You can't lure Gobul out unless you fish him out, much more when he's about to sleep. They could've finished it earlier and just ignored the freehunt bonus from RL, that's what I was about to do. He was all high and mighty telling me I messed up and even blamed me going after RL when he didn't even use traps, and they went after it anyway, when they were supposed to trap it.

Sorry I just had to vent it out.... You can ignore me now.

I've been lucky enough not to incounter too many people like that online. Although on a Capture Barroth quest, we got him down to limping and I told them to set the trap in the next area. Instead they keep attacking him and he dies -_-.

Well I beat Lagiacrus just now :D. And I beat him in the funniest way too :P. Cha-Cha delivered the finishing blow :lol:. Lagiacrus was retreating to area 11 so I swam ahead of him to beat him there. When he got to the next area, Cha-Cha must have hit him because he all of a sudden died. I lol'd so hard :lol:.

Anyways. on to the 5 star quests! :D

Well I think I was lucky in the Lagiacrus fight since he was on land for about 65% of the fight :P. I can take him fine on land, but as soon as the battle goes in the water I'm sunk.

Will try to take on Barioth again using a modified set with his parts on it.

I'll try to mix and match the Barioth set with one or two from Qurupeco or... the other one that has Attack (Barroth? Rathalos?), and see if I can get Attack Up (S) and Evasion+2.... and Marathon Runner if I can.

Yes! I finally beat Lagiacrus, but I was shocked to see that quest was only to repel him away! So I guess I gotta tangle with him again later on. I also beat a single player quest where I had defeat a Great Jaggi but also Barroth. I had to kill both to complete the mission. Barroth is so easy offline, that's my second time beating him offline! Well tonight is going much better than the night before.

Studying how to exploit evasion+2 all over again sure is hard. I want Evasion Up already.

Finally got to the 3 Star quests online :D. Can't wait to get to some of the exclusive online hunts.

Ugh I can't beat any of these monsters... I'm trying to beat that Diablos one, but all of these *5 monsters are freakishly annoying. lol I'm trying to get a Soul Breaker Switch-Axe is it any good? Oh and how do I get better armor, all of mine are @ 30 MAX, which doesn't sound good :/ my defense is 140.dtno132

I wander if 30 is the highest? If so, maybe you need an armor that sustainable against whatever elemental ability Diablos has. If you don't like your armor, I'll take it! I'm only at defense 87....lol.

Wow. I only had 119 defense when I defeated Diablos. And yeah, Soulbreaker (P) has good raw damage. But you'll be stuck on Tough Break since Bathycite Ore is only available in High Rank.

Try getting Barioth armor. Evasion+2 can be a life saver.

As for Diablos. I use Volt Axe (Y) on him. He's weak to everything except fire, and weakest to ice. But you won't get the ice slash axe till High Rank since it requires Carbalite Ore, so I just use the one with high raw damage, and 15% affinity of Volt Axe (Y) is a plus.

He is a pain but to avoid getting killed, you always run when he's attacking and if he stops, go between his feet, and alwas use sword mode. Axe mode will bounce a lot. If he's going to charge, side step/roll away. Hip check, if you see it, time your roll (just before it hits you), and Evasion+2 will do the rest. If he digs, sheathe, and run, and get ready to do the superman jump. If you didn't reach him when he stops attacking, and then starts digging before you can even come close, as long as he's not in Rage mode, use a sonic bomb. Also, bring Pitfall traps. Always paintball him. Nothing is more annoying than trying to find where he is. You always have to rely on the superman jump when escaping him, and when you have to heal, to be sure, change areas, or make sure he's not underground or not facing you.

You're basically going to have to be cheap. Like, unsheathe to sword mode>slash>sidestep>roll>roll>sheathe>run>jump>repeat.

That's basically what I do for 30mins or so. I get hit sometimes, but at least I don't die.

And when he's in rage mode, I usually don't go near him since he's always charging. He only stops for a while to roar (the mild one, not the super loud one).

There are better ways to kill him. Like being aggro or something. But that's for people who've mastered all his moves and know when to "exploit" the MOI (and added MOI in Evasion+2) in rolling.

Got up to HR 21 tonight. Also got a full set of Rathian armor.

I also had an encounter with Barioth, which then led to me getting 3 hit KO'd the second I ran into him. That guy has some nasty attacks T_T .

I'm finally going to get it today or tomorrow after a busy week in my family. I was going to get it last Saturday, but stuff came up that made me wait. Can't wait:D

The Barioth is very annoying because of his speed,i was able to beat him by avoiding his attacks and only attacking when i could get around to his back. Luckily for me he behaves in almost the same way as th Nargacuga in MHFU fo the PSP so ive had a lot of practice on fights like this.

its 5 star offline and 3 star online.Barioth uses ice but it mostly uses physical attacks. So far ive only fought it 4 times and its only used two ice attacks on me. One looks like the rathalos jump back fireball but instead of fire the barioth shoots a ice ball that turns into a mini tornado on impact. The other one sort of resembles los and ians normal fireball but once again its replaced by and snowball. The second attack is the one that hurt me the most so i would really try to avoid that one at all costs

Ok so wait how do I get the Barioth armor, I still haven't got that monster D: and what does Affinity do exactly, I have affinity 20- on my current weapon lol I'll try doing like you said, I doubt I'll be able to beat it any time soon though, I suck at this game. :Pdtno132

I seeked helped online, since I was having a hard time with Barioth in offline. Hmm, shouldn't it be unlocked at the same time as Diablos in offline? 5* A Bard's Tale.

You could fight it offline, but you'll be using a lot of traps. And you'll also be running around to get behind him (much like Diablos). Ideal spot is on his side or at the tail. He's much faster than Diablos and he's moves can get annoying. That's why I hate him more than Diablos. But both made me use 6 traps when I first defeated them offline. Just fight them repeatedly and you'll eventually see cues on their attacks and you'll be able to time your roll and your attacks.

Anyway, if you can't defeat them offline, seek help gathering mats for armors online.

Affinity is the probability of doing critical attacks (or dull attacks with negative affinity). With -20% affinity, 1 out 5 attacks would be a "dull" attack (the opposite of critical attacks, weaker)

Played some more online today. Took on Rathalos,Barioth, Diablos, and Uragaan. I got Rathian and Rathios down. Don't have much trouble with them anymore. I can do Barioth ok enough, I just need a shield to block his attacks with so I mostly use a lance against him. Diablos is hard for me. I've only faced him 2 times and am still getting the hang of his patterns. Uragaan is an absolute nightmare for me. I was the sole reason our team lost against him T_T .

Now I just need to make some money so I can level up my gear. I believe I can make a full set of Lagiacrus armor and, I am pretty close to getting enough for full Barioth armor. Diablos may be easy too since he only has 3 armor pieces.

Can anyone help me fight the Jhen Mohran. Ive tried a couple times with groups but everyone ive played with either isnt very good at fighting it or havent fought it before.

I'm not that far yet :(. What HR do you have to be to hunt him? I'm up to 27 now.

yeah this game is pretty much bad ass, just got it last night and its addicting as hell.
