I just played Barioth (don't confuse with Barroth, but 'Bars' are still cheap) for the first time, and let me just say, I can count on my hands the number of times my weapon hit him the entire battle. I played an online quest and that thing is just too quick, I'm swinging at air and that bad boy is already on the other side of the area and then he has the nerve to dash across the screen managing to take off half your energy! I hope Barioth is an online exclusive monster, cuz I don't see myself getting past him in single player. Oh my team lost, and I was responsible for the two of the three knock outs...lol. So I'm 0-1 against Barioth.

Yeah I definately found him to be a challenge at first. He's very agile but you get use to it after a while (just like baroth, remember when he was hard?)although I really love to bring some traps for this dude. A good defense is really good too when I use to have my baggie gear it would only take 1-2 hits for me to die but now with ratholos or lagi with a health bonus from the kitchen and its not too bad at all. My favourite thing to do is to stay close and slice up his rear since his pouncing attack seems to be the most deadly.. and its kinda hard for him to pounce on you when your practically up his *** :P We should try getting together and do some hunts on him, I really wana collect his armor, saw some dude wearing it and it looks BA. Like the evasion skill too.. use to love rockin' the querpeco for it.

Bruno you noob, you need a helmet :P But yeah lol I didn't wear a helmet early on either but that only works early on. Later in the game your going to want and need that extra layer of defense, also since the helmets add some of the points need to activate skills such as increased health, evasion, protection etc. You wont be able to maximize the armor skills without it. Don't worry though, most head pieces are stylish and you can still see your characters face. The only one that doesn't is the Renopolos armor. the helmet looks like a giant stuffed bear head, which completely covers seemingly your entire upper body lol. And to get the poison meat to work, what you have to do is beat the monster to an area its going to, drop the meat and then hide. it wont eat it if it can clearly see you. Fighting trumps eating for them, unless their broken.

Tri I hate to break it to you, but Barioth is indeed a single player quest and it is a tough bastard. What I did was, I went heavy on the traps, including the tinged meat, flash bombs, anything to stop it from moving while you get some shots in. I tried my best to not be directly in front of it but more under it because its tackle is a jump so sometimes it will jump right over you doing no damage. I wore Ludroth armor because one, it looks very fitting since it looks like a snow suit(style over substance Bruno, nice contradiction right lol) but it actually had practical use with the protection skill, which lowers damage taken. So when it nicked me with tail or a wing or its foot. protection would minimize the damage and that along with stopping it, kept me in the fight. You will never win chasing it around, even if your using a fast weapon like S&S.

And Bruno I would hold off on seriously going online until you have a good grasp of the monsters your going to face and have a good set of armor and weapons. There are more people but the enemies take more damage and give more, so a few hits and you die and you cost your entire team the quest.

Well I finally got to HR 31 last night! :D Still looking for Ceadus's dragongem on single player though :(.

And I was lucky with Barioth. I think the Hammer might have a higher chance to make the monsters flinch, because monsters seem to flinch alot when I smack them with the powerful attack. Also it has the paralysis attribute, which will paralyze it sometimes for a bunch of free hits.

It also helps to eat up before a fight. I cook the 2 meats together so I can have 50+ to my HP.

LOL Tri, welcome to the club. But right now, I'm hunting Barioth to extinction while wearing him at the same time. Revenge is sweet. Yeah, traps are good. Also, stay behind him always, or on the side.

Try to break the wings early on since he'll be a bit slower when they're broken. Not on running, but when he jumps, and lands, he sort of loses balance. Or loses grip on the ice. It'll increase the idle time at that point. Can't really explain it well, but you'll know when you see it. And cut the tail, getting hit by the full tail is annoying, it inflicts Ice Blight. Or just bring Mega Dash Juice (Well-done Steak + Dash Extract) to remedy that.

Also, time your rolls, I survived him offline with just using a Qurupeco set. Although Evasion+1 helped on my case, even without Evasion, a timed roll can save you. The pounce, you can escape that, easier when you're beside his front feet when he gets ready to pounce. Time it right, on the right direction, you'll be going through his armpit. Far away, it's almost impossible when he's going to land directly on top of you, but that doesn't happen all the time, you can still roll right before a body part touches you. Tail whip hard to dodge without Evasion, but it is possible. The fly+body slam. I don't know. Haven't dodged that without Evasion+2. Ice breath, when your right in the middle of it, I think no.

Try wearing armor with Evasion. Also, upgrade your armors. You won't even need that much Armor Spheres+ on High Rank armors anyway.

Meat and Dairy is better, IMO. +40 health and Defense up (M). Or Dairy+Dairy for Defense (L), and just use Max Potion if you want max health.

Wait till you get to HR31 and do Great Jaggi and Qurupeco again in high rank online. You'll be running for you life, a lot.greenarcher02

Just got the game yesterday, really enjoying, played for 6 hours already and im still scratching the surface

Wyvern Blade Fire is the shoot, but I still haven't completed my Rathian armor, I'm using decorations to get the effects. Where the hell can I get a Rathian Plate? I have beat the Rathian a dozen times already and I still cant get one. I could be using those slots for another ability not the ones I can get naturally with the last piece. Sepewrath

According to the wki, for normal quests you have a 3% chance to get one by carving the tail (howI got mine), a 2% chance as a quest reward, 1% as a shiny drop,and 3% again if u break her head as a special quest reward. For hard quests, 10% on a tail carve, 4%as a reward, and 2% as a shiny drop.

Np that site has helped me a lot since I found it trying to get the Rathian ruby in MHFU

Wow so a grand total of about a 10% chance of picking it up? That sucks. I guess I will have to keep putting a beating on it, its pretty easy for me now. Speaking of easy, the Uragaan was a breeze, both the kill and the capture. It was refreshing fighting something on relatively even ground, no flying, no water, no going under ground lol. It was a nice clean, feet on the ground fight and I demolished it. Sepewrath

Tell me about it, the game never gives you what you need next but always seems to give the same item to you when you dont need it anymore. Its been like that with every MH game ive played.

LOL, I think you should look at the ID first before doing that. It's in my sig. Well, to compensate you for that, on MHTri's first week, Tri and I met someone named Bruno. Tri asked me "Is that our Bruno?", and Bruno was like "err, what???". I asked him if he's BrunoBRS from GameSpot, and apparently he was not. Well, we didn't know you didn't have the game then, so.... :| That was a bit embrassing.

About capturing, someone must have been throwing Tranq Bombs, it's impossible to capture without Tranq Bombs (or Tranq ammo).

well today so far we have beat Barroth +, Royal Luderoth +, and Rathian +. Its nice to have people on your team that know what they are doing :P.

Long Sword is the bee's knees for me, I love it. I haven't even tried arena mode yet though. Sepewrath

I'm up to the final quest but I want to finish my Rathian armor because its just annoying to not have it finished and I want to get another Long Sword. I like the looks of the Ranger Armor, but the best armor for a Long Sword user looks like the Jhen Mohran set and it looks great on female characters.

Yeah I often create female characters in RPG games, Fallout, ME, etc. Also the female models in Tri look better than the males; case in point:

I'm rank 33 so I can't get on the rookie server. So unless we are both on the Open or Recruiting server then we won't be about to add each other.

Really....thats pretty dumb. If a person is online they should really just let you find him/her no matter what server he/she is on. They really made it a pain to find friends in this game.

Lol na, I just dont like that friends have to be online to receive messages, and cant be in a quest, and have to be in certain servers. They just could have made it more user friendly imo.
