I was gone all day with work and class, so I didn't have to deal with any of it today. I haven't checked the forum for any stragglers yet....
But the forum being flooded with multiple threads on the same topic is exactly why we need that confounded, inconvenient SSBB sticky. For some reason, everybody thinks that they're posting breaking news about the game. One or two threads per big news item is fine. But with SSBB, we get a dozen threads at least about big announcements, and that's with the sticky. Imagine how it would be without it (some of you should remember the pre-SSBB sticky days).
I blame it on Smash Dojo. There are a lot of things about that site that I don't like. First, feeding us so much information about the game leaves little room for speculation and surprise. Even the "little things" like trophies and items are fun to see for the first time in the game. We don't need to know about them before we play the game. Second, it's sets the game up for being overhyped. Constant thinking about how great a game will be is the best way to set yourself up for disappointment. Third, and admittedly least important in the grand scheme, it corrupts internet forums with a daily influx of new topics about the same thing, as we saw before the restrictive sticky.
I have nothing against the game itself; but the developer's method of advertising it is way over-the-top and will probably do more harm than good in the end.
