[QUOTE="JordanElek"]This is one of those bans where I feel like yeah, he said things that probably made people think (a lot) less of him, and some of his comments may have been trolling ("you're not really in love"), but he really didn't do anything ban worthy in my eyes. But of course, we never get the full picture... it might have been a build up of past things.... who knows.
Thinking the holocaust was deserved is pretty backwards, but it's not like he was hostile about it or resorting to personal attacks or anything else against the rules. Seeing everyone's disgust was more helpful to him than getting banned, assuming the holocaust thing was the final straw....

He never said the holocaust was deserved. He said it was undeserved.
And you're right. You can't change anyone's opinion by banning them, and frankly, he was banned right in the middle of a discussion which helps no-one.Now we have no way of reaching out to this kid who's caught up in a cult and is walking around with anti-Semitic opinions fed to him by his church and his parents.
Is it supposed to be a Hanukkah present to jews to know that now another little christian boy is going to grow up to be an anti-semite because no-one will allow him to put forward the notions he's been fed and have them exposed to criticism from people outside his church? GS has probably cut off one of his most significant and earnest places of interaction with people who aren't from his church and now there's no-one to get him to think critically about the views he's been brainwashed with. Great.
The Unification Church probably cannot be considered "Christian" the same way Protestants and Catholics are "Christian." This is not any bashing on the Unification Church, but there are certain beliefs required to be considered Christian that the Unification Church does not believe in.BTW like every person here at GS, your not going to change his opinion esp. since he grew up and is immersed in essentially a modern day cult. No one was going to convince him. He was not showing any signs of listening to the numerous of obvious reasons why no people deserve what happened in the Holocaust.
Here is something I like about that church as I have criticised them thoroughly and I am sorely dissappointed in their rabbid anti-semitism: They believe all Christian religions should try and find more common ground.
