I know most of you are gonna say "Metroid is the best fps ever" or "metroid is pretty violent." i just dont like metroid, i think it is too bland and boring to be honest. sure, some cool battles against the pirates, but i dont like it otherwise.

Well im talking about Spartan total war violent. All i see are kid games, and portsfor the wii right now, the only good violent game i have for the wii is call of duty 3 and thats a stretch. I also have zelda, but it is meant not to be violent, and i know that.I just want a good fps. a real fps. with wii controls....

Metroid isnt violent nor is it a fps.

Anyway, a violent FPS on the Wii wouldnt hurt. However, Im Indifferent to the idea. If theirs one on the Wii, cool. If their isnt, i dont really care.

Enough with the violent.

I mean don't people play anything other then violent games? Plus isn't there like 5 other platforms right now to choose from if you're looking for it?

The idea that the Wii needs violence isn't right. The Wii is the best selling console ever to this point in it's life. The Wii doesn't need anything.

If it comes along in the future so be it.

Well, there's Red Steel... :/

But really, I don't see why it needs one. As long as it gets some good FPS it's fine, it's not like everything has to be incredibly violent to be good.

I agree, actually. If it's violence you're looking for, I'd have to recommend a different console. I'm not against violence, but I definitely don't see it as something the Wii needs.

But for the old systems, I would call it 3rd person shooter.

Technically it's not even a shooter but I won't get into that but honestly it shouldn't matter what your opinion of how it plays, it's categorized. You can't go into a Library and say this fiction book seems like nonfiction and it becomes fact. Also you point in lots of games and they aren't all First person.

Haha! I so second that ^

And for what it's worth, saying how much you seem to "need" violence in your games pretty much makes you sound terribly ignorant.

Play Metroid and deal with it.

...or uh...what's that one game.....Resident Evil 4!! That's the one.

I know what you mean. I wouldn't mind a few nice FPS's either. I know it sounds dumb, but Red Steel 2 might actually be a good game if they do things right, and be the answer to all FPS lover's prayers.

you apparently forgot to type in the rest of the title! Let me clarify that the end should read "like I need a hole in my head".

"up the gorexorsxsx" isn't going to make a game fun to play, it isn't going to offer great controls and gameplay, it isn't going to offer an experience that the majority of Wii users are looking for. If I want to see gore, I'll rent a movie. If I want to play a game that I enjoy, I'll look for controls, gameplay, plot, and character development. Don't get the two confused.

I never played faceball 2000. There were too many other games that ruled (kirby's dream course, super mario world, yoshi's island, the dr. mario/tetris combo, Secret of Mana, etc.

I'm guessing the TC is young and gore is still cool. I remember playing the SNES Mortal Kombat and thinking it would be cooler if it was the Sega version. It's a bad example though, because those were different versions of the same game. I somehow felt cheated that the game wasn't the same on both platforms. Either way, everyone knows that scorpion doesn't like being walked away from...

So blowing your enemies to gory frozon chunks isn't mature enough for you? Perhaps Samus should return to her famous Bikini. I honestly doubt there will be any objectors to that on either side of the argument.

I think its a mistake to say the Wii doesn't need anything except what's scheduled for release. Just because the Wii is selling well doesn't mean it can get away without having a well balanced library of games. The Wii needs more 3rd party support, and yes- more mature games. Not too mention there is a lack of good racing games, FPSs, and combat oriented games (tom clancy type stuff). The Wii is doing okay right now, but there is nothing wrong with pointing out what the Wii needs, because the Wii is not perfect.

Also, it's a generalization to think there is not agood numberof gamers who like violence in games. When people talk about RE4, you hear about the spectacular deaths. One of the most satisfying things you can do in gaming today is chainsaw your friend in Gears of War. Violence doesn't make the game, but it certainly adds to the fun of certain kinds of games- and the Wii is lacking in that department.

RE:UC will probably alleviate the shortage though. :-)

I don't know but I get the feeling that there are some rate M games coming down the pipeline. I know that when he says FPS he want Nintndos Halo and I think to a greater or lesser degree deep down we all want that especially with the wii mote. But we are getting Manhunt, No More Heros, Sadness, and Disaster Day of Crisis. And nothing has lead me to believe that any of these games are going to be low production. Granted I haven't even seen a SS from two of the games but I'm hopeful. I think killing someone with a broke glass bottle will be rather satisfying in Sadness.

As a Halo fan I don't exactly see why it's got a M rating considering T rated games such as Call of Duty 2 have more blood and many T rated games have more profanity. And I'm pretty sure Nintendo making games with full-frontal Nudity such as Giest doesn't bode well for the kiddy argument, regardless of whether or not Giest sucked.

Why does there have to be excess of violence beyond SHOOTING people? Nah, that's not good enough. It needs to have someone's head explode, too

Don't immediately dismiss the idea or tell him to buy another system.... I know the wii was not made for any one specific type of game but aren't the controls sort of perfect for fps games? Sure he could go play a violent shooter on any other system but isn't it more fun to use the wiimote to aim? Nintendo themselves are even coming out with the accessory to hold the controllers like a gun... That couldn't be aimed towards fps players could it?

Despite what some think of fps games, there will be more out for the wii.... It is only a matter of time.

Hey, hey, don't lump us all in with Dr. Acula up there. I'm not saying I'm not up for playing the occasional FPS, but not all college students are slaves to blood and guts gaming. I don't care if a game is rated E or M, a good game is a good game. And just as I wouldn't pass up a good game simply because it was violent, I wouldn't pass up a good game simply because it lacked violence.

I am tired of people who are so shallow that they assume that any game that isn't rated "M" and full of blood and gore, isn't good. If youhaven't noticed, the Wii is selling well with many people who don't get their kicks from gory FPS. Girls, like myself are happy to play with Mario and Sonic. I'm not against M rated games, but I think there's more to a game being fun than being full of sex and violence.

For those of you into M rated fare, "No More Heroes" and "Manhunt 2" will have plenty of violence to quell your sadistic needs.

What about if Mario starred in an M rated game where he weilded a gun and shot up tons of aliens? It worked so well for Shadow the Hedgehog. (Note the sarcasm, you'll find it in a lot of my posts.)

You can't go into a Library and say this fiction book seems like nonfiction and it becomes fact. Also you point in lots of games and they aren't all First person.

Sorry, but how the hell isn't it a shooter?! An average playthrough will result in the death of over 900 enemies, almost all with guns, but pro players may use a knife. There is a great selection of guns to buy in the game, and you can have around 6 with you at a time. And you can't go 10 minutes without killing 20 enemies. AND the game and its controls are all focused around using guns. RE4 is a shooter/ horror/action/survival game... but almost entirely shooter. But a good shooter, and I agree with the other points you brought up.

like RE5 and GTA

blueteeth
Too bad we're not going to see either of them unless Rockstar decides to make a port or spinoff. Capcom isn't almost done with their own "RE game" for the Wii (Umbrella Chronicles)

I've always noticed people who buy games explicitly because they have a large amount of gore generally tend to be immature. If you can't enjoy a game like Metroid Prime 3 because it doesn't have enough gore probably means you are a little kid(at-least mentally). Most mature people would buy a game for it's game-play not for it's taboo value. If you don't believe me, then why is Super Smash Bros the most played games in any college. Why would a game where the developers went out of their way to not use the word kill in the game be one the most popular games for older players? What the Wii needs isn't more "mature" games, but more mature players.
