Around the world, many have been playing The legend of Zelda since the first release on the NES. Today it is a well respected series and has a huge amount of fans. Since the anouncment of the new Zelda Wii people have been going insane on the internet. Now the questions is, why do you love the legend of zelda. why are you hooked to the series. what makes you anticipate this game with excitement. why do you play every game in the series made.

I thought about this last night and i wanted to see all of the zelda fans opinions on GS.

My personal thoughts are, it has a great and charming story, great gameplay, entertaining puzzles and awesome boss fights, lots of items to collect, huge world exploration, and lots of interaction with the people in the game.

The earlier ones are pretty fun adventure games that use some nifty puzzles, a very special balance is done that's hard to pull off

I've never really loved the series though. When the series went off the rails on the console it was no big deal to cross it off my "must play" list but on the handheld they're stronger then ever there so that's where I get my fix.

Overall the series is best in it's NES and SNES days and even though they've lost some of their luster recently they're still enjoyable to play

I could rant and type about Zelda for over an hour about its greatness. I don't know where to begin because I have much to say, oh so much to say. I've completed every Zelda game to date. My life even outside the realm of gaming has changed for the better because of Zelda.

I don't love Zelda by any means. I liked TP enough to get into the series. I have a friend that has liked Zelda since the Super NES days but I couldn't see why until now. It's a good series but nowhere near my top favorites.

good puzzles, yes. good story? no, no, no, no. zelda is synonymous with puzzles but story-telling? really? i feel sorry for your mother...coochie_kuta

what, are you saying that Zelda has no story whatsoever?, I know Zelda has no timeline but each game has its own small story line, how link becomes the hero and the stuff he does in his quest to defeat ganon is called a story , is it not?, and the story for each game in the series are always amazing.he doesnt go on randomly solving random puzzles until he eventually randomly finds the princess. , it isnt wrong that you post your idea on my thread, everyone has their own opinions about this game, but there`s just no need to mention my mother at all, people these days....

alright your opinion, and sorry about the mother thing, I didnt know it was your sig, it came in the quote when i was replying to you and i thought you had typed it, wierd.and i get pissed at people that make fun or mention anything about mothers for no reason. anyway if you dont think there is a good story to the series, then your choice, a lot of my friends agree that they like the story in the series.

very enjoyable and well thought out adventure games. they are a very rare breed these days and zelda remains the pinnacle of the genre. in saying that...im getting a bit tired of the formula at the mo and i hope ninty shake it up just enough in zelda wii to make it fresh again. im liking the mandetory WM+ requirement and am very interested to see what ninty come up with. however if zelda wii is just another OOT clone in the end then ill probably save myself s few quid and just go and play TP or WW or something.

Because the game is usually a good mix of explorations, puzzles, sidequests, and collection wraped up in agreat story. The Legend Of Zelda created it's own niche in the gaming catagory. I havn't been a consistant fan though. I loved LoZ, really loved LttP, and was obsessed with OoT and MM. When The Windwaker came out however with it's boat and toony graphics I felt Zelda had turned its back on me, thus, I turned my back on the Zelda for that generation. Now that I am older and more open-minded I have just recently attempted playing WW.. although I've been sidetracked by MH3... but I gotta say that so far the beggining is... well I guess I shouldn't judge yet. I feel the series has took a turn for the worse though with they're latest entry TP. It seems its mostly the non-zelda fans who seem to be enoying it, for me there were too many negatives that I couldn't stop dwelling on and brainstorming ways it could have been better.

Probably because its one of the only good action adventure games available (and there arent that many like it either). There is so much detail put into each game, and at times i truly do feel that i am exploring the world of hyrule and getting to know the land, basically it has very engaging gameplay. WIth the new Wii one coming out im sure it will be even more engaging especially because of the M+.

I don't ...first few games started out good...but my gripes with it is there is never a progress ...each time its a new story with no relevance to previous games YET still uses the same characters and baddie??? (with Mario type of game to me is acceptable) for the game of this type it inexcusable.

Sure the game is good, but I love to see a progress or an ending of some sort ..rather than repeating the same crap the next 10 years down the track.

Good design, good control, gameplay is fun.

But I love Zelda more for it's charm. Playing it always gives me a good feeling. Something special about this series.

There's a great sense of accomplishment when completing a Zelda game. Maybe its the difficulty(sometimes), its length, or the little epilogues at the end of the game, but most games don't give you the same feeling from beating it. It's the reason I bought TP at launch and why I'm buying Zelda Wii at launch.

I have no idea why I love the series.

It gives off this magical feel... this unique charm, vast world and somewhat annoying sidekicks. :P

Memorable soundtrack (Saria's Song and Song of Storms FTW!), great characters, its puzzles and dungeons...

And has this medieval feel... :P
Who needs guns? Bow and Arrows are the shiiz right now.

I love the game because of the sense of wonder and adventure I get each time i play its newest release and walk into the open world. My wife thinks I am nuts but i love to just walk around Hyrule field in Oot and TP. And the story is not bad, just simple. There are very very few games that have a 'good' story when compared to other mediums, like books and movies.

I LOVE walking/running/rolling/horse ride around Hyrule in TP! :o
Walking on a quiet field, then entering a village. Then beating some baddies on Epona and spamming your arrows. Then walking some more, kill some reptile men monsters things, jump off the Zora waterfall, snowboard/race down to that fancy dungeon (forgot the name), ride boars in the desert, canoe down the river, swim in Lake Hylia, jump off with chickens or just beat Ganondorf again and watch the credits. :)

I think one of the key ingredients to Zelda is the item-based progression. Get a new item, which is effectively gaining a new ability, and more of the game opens up for you. I also love the exploration and music of it all. Plus it's just plain fun and always well polished.

Expert level design, memorable locations and enemies, spectacular soundtracks and for a person that has never spoke, Link is a great character. Its easier to say what's not to love, its my all time favorite series.

Rather than repeating what everyone else said, I'll agree with many of the statements and say it's a good series. But with that said, I wouldn't say I "love" the series and I wouldn't call one of my absolute favorite series. For every Zelda game on a certain system, chances are, there are a bunch of games I'd take over it, let alone on other systems.
