I mean, the 360 is what most people think when they think shooters, but still, it's on the wii (highest selling console), had commercials and plenty of advertising, looked great and played great. So why onle 200K?

Sales wise. I think it did poorly because either people looked to the 360/PS3 versions as superior or maybe lack of interest, considering it was a WW2 shooter. Maybe Wii owners want an exclusive FPS? Though I'm really not sure.

I'd say because it is multiplatform and the wii version was the weakest (no voice chat, missing modes) , it's a WW2 shooter (even MoH Heroes 2 didn't do that great), and because most people who are going to buy one FPS for the wii with good controls and good online gameplay, are probably waiting on the conduit.

For Wii-only owners, the last Call of Duty game was nothing special. For everyone else, the last Call of Duty game was amazing. That might be a factor. People with multiple systems would unquestionably choose a non-Wii version unless they love the Wii remote, while Wii-only owners would be rightfully skeptical of it based on CoD3. The sales might pick up once word gets around that it's actually pretty good on the Wii.

I generally don't like WWII shooters, but I rented World at War and am having fun with it. The campaign and online offerings are far superior to Medal of Honor Heroes 2's, though the control still isn't as good (I loved the nunchuck leaning and remote twisting for sniper zoom in MoH).

It's probably due to everyone buying the family games, and I am 80% sure The Conduits not going to be better than CoD:WoW. It's like a noobie developer vsing a pro.

Most poeple who want to play COD and gonna buy the more graficaly inhanced versons on the other systems. I'm not saying the wii is bad or anything but I would rather play it on a different system. I've played it on the PS3 and I don't plan in picking it up for the Wii.

Most Wii owners don't want shooters and they did not buy the Wii for shooters, they want party games and sales prove this. MP3 is one of the best games this gen and the controls really show off the Wii's potential yet in sales it flopped bad, because the majority of Wii owners want more simple games, and most of those that like both (myself included here to some extent) are likely to own 2 consoles at least this generation.

Not to mention that both Red Steel and Resident Evil 4 both sold 1 million+.

I would've guessed that the Wii game would sell less a long time ago. There simply wasn't any buzz for it. On the other hand, Red Steel which was a mediocre game, had a lot of buzz. Prior to the launch of the Wii, if you asked anybody what games they were getting, you would often hear Zelda and Red Steel.

How does my comment fail? I wont name systems here but a high quality shooter would sell 4-5 times that ammount on a system with a more traditional gaming fanbase, and if you really think the COD games on the Wii are comparable to the prime series I have nothing left to say to you anyway.

I think there's confusion in the marketplace about multi-system releases. You always have to dig too deep to find out if it's worth buying, what you're getting, and what you're missing out on.

Absolutely true and I'm more interested in that game on Wii than 360/PS3. That's just me thinking that way, do have 360 & Wii as well. I think that people want Nintendo Wii to have great games like 360/PS3. As for C.O.D. W.A.W. Wii version poor sales, I'm surprise by that news entirely.

If the Wii numbers of the game were 200k, I don't think that was bad of number of sales. What number where you hoping for?

noobie developers have been showing pros how its done on wii since..well..the start really. over at ign, a small indy teams game that was prototyped on the PC just won wii GOTY..de blob (have it myself too..dam fine game). then theres games like lost winds and world of goo...basically making the big boys look like incompetent trash that have no business being in the industry. i wouldnt write off the conduit simply because its being made be a relatively inexperienced team. as for the topic...the market it is aimed at is not going to be interested in a wii version. by default, that market is going to consider it a superior game on other platforms.

I was really expecting better sales than what it had. Not 360/ PS3 levels but certainly more respectable than it received. The game was great. I guess Gamespot's super LATE review paid off by being too little too late....ha ha.

Well for starters the Wii version is missing out on a couple features: vehicles and Nazi Zombie mode that the 360/PS3/PC versions have. ( I think they all have them anyways could be wrong) 2nd, it's a WW2 title, and to many, that's just tiring. 3rd, Call of Duty 3 was vastly inferior to the other versions, a PS2 port and with no multiplayer of any kind, plus CoD4 never came, and so it didn't really get a good start when this new one was announced.

And yet I'd be willing to wager that a port of Resident Evil 4 and a game like Red Steel wouldn't have sold a million units on the 360 or PS3. It's all about the situation. Resident Evil established itself last gen on the GameCube since RE4 was originally a GameCube title and also the fact that there were two excellent exclusive Resident Evil games on the Cube last gen (RE: Zero and REmake). That is why Umbrella Chronicles and RE4 both were million sellers on the Wii. Call of Duty 4 was a huge hit and it never came to the Wii. It dominated the headlines for 360 and PS3 gamers and was the most played onilne game for both systems (Halo 3 & CoD4 were neck and neck). It makes sense that it's sequel sold more on those platforms then on the Wii where I'm willing to be most casual-core consumers (i.e. males ages 12-30 that play games a lot but don't quite follow the industry) didn't even know that CoD: WaW was on the Wii.

I honestly think a lot of Wii owners see WW2 shooters and think "blah"/*yawn*. That's how it is for me, at least. Wii owners who enjoy FPS games like that most likely own a 360 as well, which they purchase their multiplats for.

What research shows this? Is this based on a study conducted by who? Or maybe this is just your opinion of yourself and the few people that you know. The opinions of my friends and I, contradict your statement but I wouldn't say that most Wii owners want sport and fps games.

I say wait until after the holiday sales are done. Even then, the economy kind of blows, so its a bad year to judge any game on sales.

it's a multiplatform game. people are already expecting the game to be good on the other versions cause of cod4 high expectations, but on the wii, the last cod game wasn't all that spectacular. plus, im pretty sure the 360 version sold very well is because of voice chat and friends list. i would rather talk and play a game with friends that i know than a bunch of random people and not be able to chat. BUT for me though was the controls so i bought cod wow for the wii instead of the 360. :P haha.

oh yeah, the wii didn't sell 200,000 copies. it's 200,000 total amoung the wii/psp/nds/ and another version all combined.

The Wii may be the most popular console this generation, but I think a large portion of consumers are women, the elderly, and childeren. So, cut the Wii sales in half or even by two thirds for the number of consumers interested in COD, then factor in a large percentage of these consumers probably have a 360 or PS3 as well. Yes, these numbers are purely speculation, but I know a number of people that were early adopters of the Wii but got tired of the available games and bought a second system, and these people that bought the second system are in to games such as COD (you have to be a fairly hard core gamer to buy two systems). In addition, the Wii version of COD is still gimped so many of the multi platform consumers probably bought the 360 version which is doing extremely well. Although I would expect COD: WAW to do better than it's been, I'm not really shocked at the numbers concidering the points above. Personally, I'm not interested in this game on any system but the Wii or PC due to the controls, and I will be buying it for the Wii after Christmas, but many people still like this game on analog sticks (for reasons which I can't understand). It's possible that games like this become more popular on the Wii when a larger library of simlar games becomes available, but if it doesn't happen in 2009 then games like this probably will never do well on the Wii. I think The Conduit will be a measuring stick for future publishers in this genre -- if it does poorly, then future FPS games on the Wii will be second rate if they are produced at all.

Family Friendly is an understatement. Haha, infact they actaully cut almost all the gore out of the wii version of the game. Might as well have censored the language too, it would've gotten the big T if it wouldv'e been censored. The Xbox Version is by far the best version that is available. It will drag you in for hours and hours, i just hope that the wii version has good Online :)

It is inferior to its console cousins in every way. Those of us who are 2 system owners are probably going to get multiplatform games for the superior console unless the Wii has something so overwhemingly special about it. We save our Wii for the Ninty games and those wii specific game (Zack and Wiki was great, couldnt imagine playing that on the 360)

[QUOTE="rgame1"][QUOTE="SapSacPrime"]Most Wii owners don't want shooters and they did not buy the Wii for shooters, they want party games and sales prove this. MP3 is one of the best games this gen and the controls really show off the Wii's potential yet in sales it flopped bad, because the majority of Wii owners want more simple games, and most of those that like both (myself included here to some extent) are likely to own 2 consoles at least this generation.SapSacPrime
mp3 sold 1.3 million. Pretty good for a game with controls no better than world at war, no multiplayer, no anything. hence your comment pretty much fails.

How does my comment fail? I wont name systems here but a high quality shooter would sell 4-5 times that ammount on a system with a more traditional gaming fanbase, and if you really think the COD games on the Wii are comparable to the prime series I have nothing left to say to you anyway.

your comment clearly fails because you said most wii owners don't buy shooters when REd steel sold a million, MP3 sold a million and I beleive Medal of honor heros 2 sold 500k. Thats why.

I bought the PS3 version for 2 reasons:

  1. I didn't want to chance the Wii version using friend codes. So I just avoided the whole issue and went with another version. Does it use friend codes?
  2. Graphics. Wii looks like trash on an HDTV. Nintendo can't keep up with the times, so my money goes other places for the most part.
