Completely different
Buying a game after a markdown still goes to the maker of a game
Buying a game used gives no money to the maker
Also when you buy a game that's marked down it still goes down as a sale for a certain title, when you buy a used game the publisher has no idea of the sale
GabuEx
No, identical.
When a game first hits shelves, the price given to it is what the publisher would really like it to sell for. When the price drops, this is the publisher saying that the game is no longer selling satisfactorily. The faster the price of a game drops, the quicker it has ceased to sell satisfactorily in the eyes of the publisher, the worse the venture has thus gone in the eyes of the publisher, and the less likely they are to consider it a success. Anyone who buys the game at that point is not providing the publisher with as much money as they had hoped and anticipated. Price drops are damage control, plain and simple.
Therefore, by refusing to give the publisher what they want for the game, and by holding out until the price drops regardless of how you feel about the game, you are actively contributing to the likelihood that the publisher will consider the venture a failure, and thus to the likelihood that they will not make a repeat venture. Whether you give the publisher no money for their game or whether you give them ten dollars less than they wanted, it is still the case that the publisher is not getting what they wanted, and that the publisher will be less happy as a result. Hurting the industry less than other people does not mean you are not hurting the industry.
No, not at all
Publishers have no idea how used games sell while reduced price games do have records
If a reduced game sells well then the publisher sees that the game is a viable franchise and could release another game
If a used game sells well then the publisher has no idea, sees no data, and has no reason to produce another game

What? First of all, I'm guessing the publisher's biggest gain from all of this is when a certain game sells out, and a retailer is required to order more copies of said game from the publisher. However, if a publisher has to wait months before a retailer even bothers looking into more copies and even has to lower the prices to be more appealing, I don't think that publisher is looking at the game as viable from any sense. Sale numbers are nice to look at, but I'm guessing a publisher is more concerned about the number of copies that it is actually able to ship a little more.
Even if a used game sells, it's still showing a retailer that there is interest in the game and might provoke them to ask the publisher to keep a certain game moving along. A game that is sitting on their shelves for months at a time is likely something that retailer doesn't want to see again, especially if it has to lower the price to move it out.

If a publisher dropped the price of a game to $1, the game would probably sell like hot cakes. That doesn't mean that the publisher would be happy with the sales. Publishers don't care about raw sales figures; they care about the profit that the sales figures translate into. A game that sells 100,000 copies but turns a profit was a far more successful game in the publisher's eyes than a game that sells 1,000,000 copies but fails to turn a profit. A franchise has to make money in order to be viable, not just sell. The more they have to drop the price of a game before people actually start buying it, the less profit they make on it, and the less happy they're going to be about the game's performance in the market. When the price drops, that's not the publisher just going "LOL j/k guys here's the real price".
Your underlying assumption that the same number of games sold equals the same level of happiness for the publisher is wrong.
No I'm sick of anime, the amount of anime I see on the internet I adblock with firefox.I don't want Wii to have whiny wapanese over wii speak trying to shout KAWAII at the top of there voices.Capcoms only good game for Wii was Megaman 9,RE4,Zack and Wiki(possibly).Toxicamo
=(
TvC doesn't use Wii Speak at all. So you can't hear the little wapanese kids. :D
If the online is good i'll definitely buy TvsC later this year, i love figthing games but if the online is bad, then i'm gonna pass, i'm the only one among my friends and family who plays traditional fighters.
I'll prob just want to rent TvC because games like this I usually get into core for about 2 or 3 days and then never touch them again. But I'm excited for mh3 and will be picking that up foh sho!
I'm a fan of fighting games so i'll pick up TvC and I like Monster hunters so i'll buy that too. Anyway, I only buy games I like so, yeah.
I dont care for fighting games but i'll definitely be getting Monster Hunter Tri.at the End of the Month or whenever, BUY TATSUNOKO VS CAPCOM!
This will show that Capcom there is a user base on the Wii that likes Fighting Games.
and in Apirl, BUY MONSTER HUNTER TRI(3)!
This will show Capcom that yes we like the game and want you to keep making games like this and many others.
Maybe then Capcom will give out some more good titles for the Wii. As we all know Capcom isn't liking what they are seeing on the Wii.

I'm thinking of buying T vs. C but I was wondering. Does anyone know the full unlockable characters list in it?
I'm definitely buying Tatsunoko vs Capcom because I like fighting games. Plus I already have Guity Gear on the PS2 so T Vs C should be great for the Wii. Plus it's online.
However I'm not sold on Monster Hunter 3 yet. I'm not too familiar with the series. However graphically it looks great.
I will not buy Tatsunoko vs Capcom because I don't like fighting games. And I will consider Monster Hunter Tri if it ends up a lot better than the past games in the series.
_BlueDuck_
The previous installments of Monster Hunter were great, especially in Japan. It was western reviewers who gave it a bad impression because of the lack of 'lock on'. Monster Hunter requires skill and patience. If you dont like the previous Monster Hunter you shouldnt bother with this one since they have the same formula but added new maps, gear and monsters.
I'll be getting Tatsunoko vs Capcom along with Mass Effect 2 when they come out. Monster Hunter? Have any of those games been really well reviewed? I don't get the hype. I guess, reviews aside, from what I've seen of what the game is like another question I have is, couldn't you be playing something better on the PC.Legolas_Katarn
Sorry for double post( I dont know how to double quote).
Monster Hunter is a huge series in Japan, it is as big as Final Fantasy and Famitsu gave it a 40/40. You can actually play this game on PC, but only if you are Korean or Japanese, other then that you cant find this game anywhere else besides the Wii, PSP, and PS2.
I definitely interested in Monster Hunter Tri, but I'm still trying to decide if I want to by Tatsunoko vs Capcom (It looks interesting but I'm still not sure.)
I used to like fighting games back in the day of SNES and Sega, but after them being the same for so many years I'm bored of them now.
Never played a Monster Hunter game but I've always thought it could be fun. Will be a definite rental once it comes out, and if I like it I'll pick it up. I'm mainly concerned that it will just be grinding. If I want to grind I'd play one of the freebie MMO's :P
I added Tatsunoko vs Capcom and Monster Hunter Tri to my watchlist. I am not that interested in the former, though, but if it turns out to be a good game and hits the right price, I'll give it a shot.

What's Anime for you? Do you know that Anime means animation in japanese? Megaman, Zack and Wiki both features Anime characters.
I'm looking forward to both of them. Most Wii owners seems to like party games and platformers more than great fighting, RPG's and Action aventure games, I am glad i bought a PS3 and didn't stayed only with a Wii. Now i can get or play Mario, Zelda and other Nintendo franchises wile a the same time i'm having a blast with games like Metal Gear Solid 4, Valkyria Chronicles,Ninja Gaiden, Uncharted 2, ResidentEvil sequels,Final Fantasy XIII,Street Fighter IV, Soul Calibur IV, Marvel vs Capcom 2, BlazBlue, Modern Warfare 2 and much more. Anyone should get whathever they want but it's because of most Wii owners that many companys aren't supporting the Wii like it should be.
I still remember Nintendo promising a lot of support and good game for the Wii before lunching it and here we are with the fatest selling Console that have the least support from developers and the biggest library of games that sucks. We even had to waited one year for Mario Galaxy and Smash Bros. Brawl, Mario Kart was a letdown and the only somewhat good thing las year was Punch Out and New Super Mario Bros. Wii that was actually great, the rest was all crap with some eceptions.

This month is going to be tough for me, I'm getting Mass Effect 2 and No More Heroes 2 so I won't be able to get TvC (at least in Jan). Monster Hunter Tri, however, is a game I'm really looking forward to. If I can convince a friend or two to buy it with me to play online, it's a definite buy for me.
its insane on how many people dislike fighting games even more so for classic 2d fighters they been around for over 25 years i can't wait for tvc i went for it over no more heroes 2 and i am a huge suda 51 fan, and i will get monster hunter 3elbert_b_23Yeah its amazing how the fighting genre has fallen from grace over the years. I blame Capcom and thier decade long break from SF :P. The new fad is FPS and Fighting games just don't offer what FPS do so people have no love for it. The funniest thing I hear is people who say they love FPS because of competition, but don't like fighters. There is no genre more competitive than fighters, the problem is its too competitive for alot of people, there are no levels and perks in fighters to replace skills.

Tatsuonoko vs Capcom a Street Figter IV and Tekken 6 are very good examples, wile we will have the oportunity to play Tasunoko vs Capcom this year, Japan already have game in arcades even for Wii. The game's been available over there for like a year or more, they same case with SFIV and Tekken6.

I'm not a gamer obsesed with graphics but i have even been subscribe to Nintendo Power since like 7 to 8 years and still have the issue that feature the E3 were Nintendo first announced the Wii and it said that Saturo Iwata state in public that it was gonna be the smallest console ever produce by Nintendo and when you turne it you will say WOW by the graphics. I'm not kidding i can give the the volume and page number if anyone of you want , for me Nintendo betrayed us all.

The take home message is its a genre that isn't even close to its former glory in terms of market value. Why do you think people made such a big deal about how late 2008-2009 was a ressurgence in the fighting genre? The fighting genre just isn't that popular anymore and I wouldn't simply say its because of the arcade because business was booming on the console market for a time, especially as arcade's began thier decline and then at some point the bottom fell out. I cant speak for Japan because thier whole market is on the decline outsude of the typical big ones like Monster Hunter, Mario, Pokemon, Final Fantasy etc.
I am beyond buying things just to show a company something. Capcom had their chance for that with Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles and they blew it. I'm buying Monster Hunter 3 because it actually looks interesting and finally like a serious effort from a publisher that's all. There is already a user based for fighting games. Super Smash Bros. Brawl showed that already. End of story. Sales of Soul Calibur 2 on the GameCube showed there was a audience for fighters and it's safe to say all Cube owners now have a Wii. The sales of Monster Hunter 3 in Japan show there is a market for this game already. The sales of launch games shows there was an interest in all genres. The fact that the user base is so high already means there is a diverse market out there. That's how it always works. No more proving need to be done anymore. If Capcom wants to continue to look the other way and ignore all the evidence already the way EA and others did then screw them.
I will not buy tatsunoko as i don't like fighting games that aren't super smash bros. and i probably won't buy Monster Hunter as there are better rpgs i would rather buy. I think i will keep my wii as a backup system and only buy 1st party games and possibly red steel 2.MUSH_IS_PWNsThat's pretty much what it's come to for me. There are a few 3rd party games I'm looking at (Monster Hunter 3, Red Steel 2, and more recently Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers which I'm enjoying) but for most part the Wii is getting used for first party games. 3rd party publishers/developers had their chance for the last few years. Unless the game really stands out to me it isn't even getting looked at.
