For those of you living in North America that are just waking up, Nintendo held a Nintendo Direct Japanese conference at 3AM and announced a whole bunch of details that might give us information about the upcoming US/EU events.--Japanese Conference Summary:16:02 Wii U supports full HD 1080p, uses a 'GPGPU.' Main mem: 1 GB. System: 1 GB. Total: 2GB.16:03 Games use only 1 GB of main memory. System memory is for OS. Game discs 25 GB, up to 22.5 MB/s (megabytes per second).16:03 The Wii U consumes up to 75 watts of electricity. Typical power usage is 45 watts. Wii accessories can be used, as can Wii games.16:04 You can import your Virtual Console and Wii Ware games from the Wii.16:07 You can play games, watch video on the Wii U GamePad. It features smooth, low latency.16:10 You can do multiplayer using a GamePad and several Wii remotes. Dual-screen play possible.16:11 On controller screen: menus, maps, communication interface. Play without the TV possible. Miiverse is the system-level social network interface. You aren't the only one playing.16:12 Miiverse is the system-level social network interface. I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that this is just TriG with cross platform play (3DS version) and the Wii U version is the same thing with additional online and I would assume enhanced HD graphics (ala the PS3 version of the game).

And hopefully Add On Content. Games like this can actually benefit from additional content such as monsters, weapons, stages and armor

I'm glad that I'll be able to transfer my Virtual Console and WiiWare games on to the Wii U, but I'm still upset that because there's no account or profile associated with those downloads, and they're attached to the console, I won't be able to trade or sell my Wii beforehand to help offset the cost of the 32gb SKU. Because I'm on a tight budget, this may result in my having to pre-order the basic 8gb model instead.

In most cases, things like GS may offer a better deal for preorder, but they will still offer a trade in deal post launch.
