[QUOTE="YellowOneKinobi"][QUOTE="BrunoBRS"] but still... :P actually ganon's skin seems grey, carbonized. and no mohawk.Sik_kid_pk

I've also always pictured him to be well educated and well spoken. Not one that would speak like a thug, for lack of a better word.

Mr.T speaks like a thug?

no, he speaks like a psycho thug on steroids. and yeah, the eloquent, educated villain (possibly with a british accent :P) is much more interesting than the "GANON SMASH".

That's completely false. Mario had voice acting in both 64 and Sunshine, which wasn't good at all in the latter. Starfox had voice acting since N64, F-Zero had voices, new Punch Out, Battalion Wars, Fire Emblem and ... pretty much everything that needed it. DK and Kirby obviously don't need it, that was pretty much one reason why Sonic went downhill, (even though also Epic Yarn had VA where it fit) and Zelda is really the only exception. And it certainly won't kill anybody to read a couple of lines once in a hour...

At this point I really can't imagine the series with voice acting and to me, it's fine as it is. VA could go wrong and any game that ends up like Assassines Creed is inferior by default, when it ONLY has voice acting and I can't read at my own faster pace and have endure uninteresting dialogue that I can't skip.

lazyathew

If you read my whole post... the MAIN characters won't get voice acting. Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine didn't have Mario speaking at all (aside from some yippees and yahoos), Starfox 64 had all your comrades screaming stuff at you, but Fox didn't say anything, F-Zero 64 only had the race announcer saying things, and Punch Out, Battalion Wars, Fire Emblem and Sonic are all not first party titles.

Fox did speak actually, in Star Fox 64, Adventures, Command and Assault. Not sure anout the SNES game, but he definitly spoke in all those.

I guess I just never paid attention to that. I've played it plenty of times but never noticed.

I'm surprised they didn't include voice acting in SS. I'm positive that they will eventually, good voice acting is such wonderful way to expand a story's emotional impact.

Voice acting doesn't fit the Zelda theme, and I prefer to come up with my voices and tones in my head to cast the characters rather than have them be spoon fed to me, particularly for the Zelda series. It doesn't need itwiifan001
Maybe Zelda should be a text based game, that way we wouldn't have to be "spoon fed" colourful graphics and catchy music either

Really Loco, really? -_- Catchy music and colorful graphics fit Zelda. Voice acting wouldn't.

Yes really. Makes no sense to say X fits it but Y doesn't. Silent characters makes the world seem more sterile and N64ish.

I don't think it need a voice over, Link and Zelda are silent for a reason. But you never know what Nintendo might do

If Zelda were a text-based series, then everybody could have their own interpretation of the world. You might find the colorful graphics to fit for the series, but others don't, so a text-based game would allow for everyone to have their own "correct" interpretation in their head, colorful or not, right?

They did, and many people continued to say that even after she spoke.

But still, Link doesn't need to speak just because the game has voice acting.

Why do people assume that VA means that Link would talk? Silent protagonists work very well in games with VA, just look at games like Half Life, Bioshock, and Portal. Those games' stories/characters were made by their incredible voice actors.

Well it's a good thing we've many different art styles over Zelda throughout the years, as well as catchy music This whole "entirely text based series" is not a legit argument to what I'm saying. Real voice acting wouldn't fit the Zelda universe. Puzzles do, the music does, bosses, items, etc. all contribute to the Zelda universe. VOICE ACTING DOESN'T, and it would be a bad time if it did.

So, question to the anti-voice-acting folks... what if they added voice acting, but gave an option at the beginning for people who only want to read text that would turn off voice-acting? Then everybody's happy, right? Would that be ok? Just curious..

Because a spinoff from ages ago is totally an accurate indicator of what voice acting they would have post-2011 right?

Typing an illogical point in CAPS doesn't make it better I'm afraid :(

From Satoru Iwata in an issue of Nintendo Power: "It would break the image of Link to have him speak." He went on to explain that none of the other characters should speak if Link is silent because it would be an "off mixture."

My above point is logical. IT'S ALWAYS LOGICAL WITH THE WIIFAN001. Anyways, I highly doubt you're not purchasing Skyward Sword due to lack of voice acting.

But isn't it great though? Nintendo gets what they want, and I get what I want. Everyone important to me gets what they want. :)

And I doubt you're not buying Skyward Sword because of the lack of voice acting...I don't think anyone is for that reason.

Half Life, Bioshock, and Portal are all "off mixtures" and their voice acting is credited as some of the best in the business. Iwata is just being too conservative in this respect.

I agree with the consensus here. It would take away from the charm of the game if they had tons of voice actors.

If it ain't broken, why fix it.

While I do not want to see voiceovers, I voted yes because I think Nintendo will eventually cave-in to the pressure of modern convention.

If Nintendo do put VA in the Zelda games I doubt they will give Link a voice as he dosen't "speak" in any Zelda game, he just stands there listening to everyone else. The only things I would worry about are the voice actors for Zelda and Ganon, if they got them wrong it could ruin the whole series.

Voice acting for a Zelda game wouldn't hurt, as long as everyone but Link can talk. A game without voice acting is starting to become a thing of the past, I am not going to lie, I was kind of annoyed at twilight princess with the lack of voice acting. Handheld games is one thing but what today generations of games that should be implemented in their games, just find some good voice actors. That was the same with final fantasy, Squarenix dedicated their time with the actors so it wouldn't sound awkard when hearing them talk, in my opinion Final Fantasy Advent Children was a perfect example.

I agree that if everyone but Link talks it would be fine. I would hope though that they wouldn't hire famous people to do the voices. I don't want to recognize anyone's voice, thus kill some of the suspension of reality.

News flash, we already have that "off mixture". We already have everyone except Link speaking. We are talking about the medium (audio vs text) not who should speak. If you can't even understand that then... yikes :?

But isn't it great though? Nintendo gets what they want, and I get what I want. Everyone important to me gets what they want. :)

And I doubt you're not buying Skyward Sword because of the lack of voice acting...I don't think anyone is for that reason.

News flash, we already have that "off mixture". We already have everyone except Link speaking. We are talking about the medium (audio vs text) not who should speak. If you can't even understand that then... yikes :?

I do understand. Your yikes is not needed at this time.

[QUOTE="locopatho"][QUOTE="wiifan001"]

If it were excellent VA I'm all for it. I'm up for some change in the Zelda series(not just the VA). But thinking of what Link from Wind Waker might have sounded like and having to hear his voice the whole game...eww.lol

If it does have voice-acting, they should be speaking Hylian. If they speak English, it would cause all of the Hylian text and lore throughout the games' history to be fairly redundant. Why would the characters be speaking English anyhow? They don't write it, read it, sing it and so on...

While I do not want to see voiceovers, I voted yes because I think Nintendo will eventually cave-in to the pressure of modern convention.

Bubble_Man
They have no such history of doing that (caving to modern convention). Slow online features, weaker and weaker processing, alternative controls, no HD, no HDDs, friend codes etc. etc. I'm convinced that the more games feature voice acting, the less likely Zelda ever will.

All the text is already in English?
