lol @ not playing fair...counting artest as a king, is like counting mcgrady as a king...or rubio as a part of the t-wolves...or gooden as a king...but whatever you guys say. I still don't see the point when his whole existence on the Kings was to get rid of him..it's like saying a dude who's traded to a team just to be bought out of his contract, or released at the end of the season really played for that team.
Not that it matters anyways, because I can just call Artest a douche as he plays on the Lakers. The point is moot, so there's no point in making it...clearly no one sees that though.
Divac? lol...same with C-Webb. Christie, sure...Nocioni is one, but he's really not a king either IMO.Â

yea except mcgrady never played for the kings, rubio was never a twolve and artest played with the kings for more than 2 season AND led yall to the playoffs the year he got traded there :|but yea, im sure the kings kept him for two and a half years just to trade him.....

according to your logic artest isn't really a laker yet, i mean, he played longer in sac than he has in la. and c webb has always been a douche. divac is a douche on the court, his constant flopping is annoying to watch.
Divac isn't a flopper, and I don't see the C-Webb hate.Petrie traded for Artest the first year as a band aid for a team that desprately needed to rebuild. Peja was a hassle on the court because he wasn't playing up to his full potential while Artest was one off the court because nobody wanted to deal with his attitude. At the time, Petrie dumped Peja for Artest in hopes that the team wouldn't have to go into a full rebuilding mode (much like what Joe Dumars tried to do with the Pistons most recently when he traded for Allen Iverson) and that the team could be built around Artest. Much documented is the fact that Artest wanted to be dealt to the Knicks, and though Petrie (like a moron) failed to acknowledge this, he dealt for Artest anyways hoping the chance to win would motivate Artest to play at a high level, and hopefully build the team around him.Â
None of this happened, and Petrie is a moron for it. What i don't think Petrie realized was the fact that Artest was an easy sell for the Pacers, and a hard buy for every team in the NBA--well, except the Kings of course. Sure, we made the playoffs as the 8 seed that year, but that team (aka any team built around Ron Artest and his attitude) would NEVER be a contender, and everyone in Sacramento knew it (the orginization knew it, the players knew it, the coaches knew it--I think the only one who didn't know this was Petrie.) Of course, Petrie got a pass for the trade because the team made the playoffs, but when we were knocked out in the first round it was apparent that Artest wasn't happy (noted by him mouthing off about Adelman not being renewed a contract, and Bonzi Wells leaving, threatening to retire, and requesting a trade) and nobody else was either.
The Maloofs wanted Artest gone, but Petrie held on to him citing the previous years success. When the team failed to win, Petrie was pushed to the brink--it was Artest, or his job. He tried to trade him all throughout Musselman's campaign as head coach, but failed, and finally succeeded in dumping Artest B-Mills, and Bibby (whom is another story on its own) during Theus' campaign as head coach putting this team into full rebuilding mode. Really, one person wanted Artest in Sac-Town and it was GM Geoff Petrie....the fans, the players, the coaches, the orginization...didn't want him.Â
I think the difference between Artest in Sac-Town, and Artest in LA is that he actually wanted to be there & the team wants him there. We never wanted him, and after a while we didn't want Bibby or Brad Miller either. This team's ceiling is so much higher without all of them at this point in their careers, no matter how much talent they have. Really, what Kings fans/coaches/orginization wanted to see when we were shopping Artest around was a team led by John Salmons/JT/Hawes/K-Mart/Garcia/Evans. Clearly it didn't work out that way, but you get the point.
